So I thought when I'd been reading about it on Wikipedia one day that I'd seen there had been nine Land Before Time films, so I was going to make an amazing joke about choosing those plus The Godfather or something.

A quick pre-joke fact check tells me it's up to FOURTEEN Land Before Time films. Fucking hell.

This is very much an individual list. I appreciate that there's some bolters on there. Some of it is based on quality, whereas some of it is just the unquantifiable impression the film left on me.

1. 12 Angry Men
2. Good Will Hunting
3. Blade Runner
4. The Truman Show
5. Dr Strangelove
6. The Shawshank Redemption
7. Casablanca
8. The Usual Suspects
9. Inception
10. Jurassic Park

I only recently saw 'O Brother...' and I think it's probably at or near the top of my list.

The top 5 are nailed on, whereas on a different day I might have picked a different last 5.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Goodfellas
Life of Brian
Fight Club
Trainspotting
Blade Runner
Downfall
The Shawshank Redemption
The Lives of Others
Apocalypse Now

Tarantino might have made it on to the list at one time, but I've really gone off him. And I could easily have one or two more Kubrick in there.

1. The Sandlot

Yes lad. My favourite horror franchise.

Lewis

1. Lawrence of Arabia
2. Dr. Strangelove
3. The Long Good Friday
4. Das Boot
5. The Godfather[s]

I would say that is reasonably solid, but beyond that it would depend on mood. Blade Runner, Goodfellas, High Noon, There Will Be Blood, Zulu, more David Lean, The Downfall, half of what Powell and Pressburger made... I'm going to be awkward about it.

I know I'm one of a few, and a certifiable mentalist, but I will never get the hype about Blade Runner. Watched it through twice and I see it as trash level. Not knocking those who love it as I know its regarded as a masterpiece.

I must have seen that film about a dozen times before I actually knew what it was called. We had it taped (God knows how and why) and just referred to it as 'Worms'.

That shot is pretty great, yes. Almost Children of Men levels good.
