View Full Version : If you had to wipe the planet of one of these, which would it be?

From this moment on, would you rather there be no art (visual art, music, film etc) or no sport?

Islam.

Sport as in professional sports on TV, or I wouldn't be allowed to do any type of sport either? If the former then definitely sports, I don't watch much anyway. If the latter, then art can get to fuck.

Yes, are you after destroying them entirely as concepts?

Harold.

Without Islam, Harold would also cease to exist.

I'm fairly ambivalent to high profile sport as it is. So fuck it.

Now consider this if the former sport or artists were now in the jobs market.

Art by a country mile. Especially the Tate Modern bollocks. Music is mostly shit as well.

I'd keep sport.

There's about 2 films a year which I really want to see and I don't listen to music any more as anything new is horrendous.

I was thinking gone completely.

Sport, no question.

The people downstairs have been listening to an Enya playlist at an incredible volume for the last four hours though, so if I was actually offered that choice in reality right now I might do a stupid thing. I wouldn't have thought it possible for anyone to unironically enjoy Orinoco Flow as much as they apparently do.

Definitely sport.

It's sport for me too. I'd be gutted, but even more gutted if there was no music. Just couldn't imagine it really.

If art didn't include TV and film then it would go, as it is so long sport.

I reckon I could replace sport quite easily. It's part of my life through habit, mostly, and because everybody else is into sport. Football is unavoidable unless you're a p**f, but if it didn't exist all of us straight white males would find something else to immediately bond over.

Sport all day. Would be hard without sport but losing music would be a travesty.

But for music, I'd keep sport, but music maybe just swings it.

It's just kind of hard to imagine not being able to DO sports of any kind. For instance Dancing, is that a sport or just moving around? Or weightlifting, jogging, etc? I mean, can you keep fit, without playing say football or tennis?

If so then yeah, maybe Sport would have to go, partly because of music (I think I could manage without film and series, I watch more sport anyway), and I suppose the idea I have that Arts have a strong positive influence on society, whereas I'm not entirely convinced Sports do as much (some, yeah).
