View Full Version : Songs from the 90s and early 2000s that were popular but have been forgotten

I just stumbled upon this on Youtube, which I haven't heard in about 15 years, but was reasonably successful as a single:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVvjKA22MYs

This resulted in me going down somewhat of a rabbit hole of similar songs on Youtube. Highlights include the Sugababes - Push the Button and Anastacia - I'm Outta Love. I feel like these songs all sit alone in a weird 90s/2000s category of their own. I can't put my finger on it, but if anything sums up this period of pop music, it's songs like this.

What other songs have I totally forgotten about?

A week ago I would've said no but now I don't know anymore.

That video is void by putting Seven Nation Army at 74.

It's the one song that will never be forgotten because gimps in sport can't stop chanting it.

That's a beauty. I'm fairly sure that I haven't listened to that since about 2003.

I randomly remembered the song "Gangster's Paradise" this morning.

There's a song that was everywhere than then disappeared overnight.

Still gets played about 3 or 4 times a week (sometimes more) on Heart FM over here.

A couple of years ago it was on when I was driving into college and then on the way back home in the same day.

In their 20's? I fucking wish. I feel as old as I actually am.

I love the 90's though! I've got a shed load of playlists created and I genuinely believe it was the best decade by a long way, not that I can remember it much but everything seemed better.

I quite often listen to this playlist when I play Rocket League (which I may have posted before in the "stuff that's shit but you love it anyway" thread).

EDIT: Can't embed playlists by the looks of it?

I feel like 1999 was a golden year for this sort of thing, but that's probably because that was the year my parents gave me a radio for my birthday so I could for the first time listen to Capital FM on summer nights when I should have been asleep.

Mambo number 5 very much the big dog that year, but lesser remembered hits such as Wamdue Project - King of My Castle also stick in the mind.

Comfortably the worst song in the thread until this post.

King of My Castle was just Ann Lee - Two Times for the very poorest of men.

This is another corker from 1999.

He's turned into an absolute nutter. I can't remember what sort but he's definitely a nutter.

edit: Oh that was it, he became a drug addict and ended up on multiple seasons of hit reality show 'Celebrity Rehab' only to fall off the wagon, beat his girlfriend senseless and fall into a coma.
