Worst: Their language(s) are horrible to listen to. I think I get a mixture of Cantonese and Mandarin in this flat, since one girl is a lot paler (Korean/Japanese, possibly) than the others and has been SHUNNED by the little group that's formed, so I'm well positioned to comment. The Hong Kong lot all talk/shout like they're at the dentist, where as the reject just moans in a high pitched voice (but only very early on Saturday/Sunday) and genuinely sounds like she's being tortured. I can only further comment that they're utterly thick.

Best: When you do come across a decent Chinese person, though, they're usually great. I had a mate in first year who got British humour and made loads of effort to get involved. There's also a bloke I play badminton with who's a good laugh, though could definitely be Korean/Japanese.

Best - Lots of interesting sightseeing / areas of beauty that the government have done a decent job of preserving. Once you get used to it, the wide variety of food is pretty nice. The nice people you do find are usually pretty great and will go out of their way for you. Foreigners get treated better than locals. Job opportunities look good there. The language is not as bad as some other east Asian languages. (Thai? I'm convinced it's not even a language). Their bullet train network is extremely convenient and cheap to use.

Worst - Vast majority of people are fucking awful. Most people have no manners to speak of whatsoever, especially males who, generally speaking are pricks. Probably country-wide short-man syndrome. I've heard shocking stories of corruption at every level, as you can probably guess. The language is absolute garbage and if I didn't have to speak it I never would. Then you've got the air quality, the rampant social disharmony and FREEDOMS of speech which just compound the problems. Then the cunts seem to spend 90% of their life at work.

I've made a massive mistake agreeing to go there, haven't I? Fuck me.
