Nothing fancy or that involved cooking. Something quick after work - cold meat in a wrap.

That midfield is inspiring, Lewis.

The finishing in that video is hilarious :D Imagine if we actually get a proper striker to score next year...

Today's game is pointless but with both teams playing for nothing, it could end up being an end to end game. But then again, it's Mourinho so there is zero chance of that.

I think from third to sixth should be embarrassed. Arsenal have been poor for a good number of years now and I think Wenger should have called it time a while ago but I dont think the mood around the club has helped either. Liverpool have been grossly inconsistent but Klopp only has himself to blame for not bringing in anyone in January, playing a bloody midfielder at left back and being unable to keep things tight at the back. Man United have been poor in the oppositions box and have blown hot and cold for most of the season. I think they are showing small signs under Mourinho. Man City are the team that has disappointed me the most and after all the rubbish I read about how he was going to pretty much crack England at the first attempt, I am glad he has failed. When they are good they are good but they havent been good for long enough.

I do like that Jesus striker and I think they should keep him and Aguero up front. I think Yaya Toure has actually been pretty decent in the last month or so given he looked a lost cause but its well known that Man City have a core of players that are too old and need freshening up. Leroy Sane is inconsistent. Raheem Sterling cant shoot to save his life and hasnt really moved up a gear since joining them and the full backs got worse. I want them to do well as I did like Guardiola but moving to England will be his first proper mistake I think.

Conte of Chelsea has impressed me the most, I love his passion on the side of the pitch and I think between him and that little Argentina midget at Tottenham, they have both been the better managers and best two teams obviously. I think Liverpool will win Southampton later on as they do owe them for a couple of defeats now and the Arsenal game is anyones. If Mourinho plays the children then so be it but I think he would be silly to do so as anything can happen in the last few games.

Offshore Toon - His Wikipedia page makes a good read. Not only does it include the colossus Titus Bramble but it would appear 'Sib the Sexist' greatest feat was nutmegging a defender and taking it around the keeper. I do miss the footballers from back in the day. Some of the names when he played for Man City are a right blast from the past. Paulo Wanchope standing head and shoulders above them all. Kasper Schmeichel as David James understudy. What a joke of a keeper he was.

Give me David Seaman and Tim Flowers any day. I wasnt a big fan of Walker(?).

Sibierski

Most strikers Newcastle used to buy were already washed up to be fair, that's why they moved to Newcastle. Cisse was a bit of a victim of Pardew not being able to play with two upfront, so he and Ba would often find himself out on the left. Cisse had some bad knee injuries and then never seemed to play with any confidence or ability ever again. Still scored some really important goals when he was shit though.

Ba was brilliant, but took the money to sit on Chelsea's bench (why wouldn't you?). Remy was good too.

I've not been following, is this a Smiffy alias?

I still don't think Shakespeare has done anything Ranieri wouldn't have done eventually but he definitely steadied the shit somewhat.

Summer of change needed?

Claudio, bless him, had completely lost the plot. Tbh I think Shakespeare has been the key man behind Pearson and Ranieri. Very astute guy and the players love him.

Don't see a massive overhaul in the summer. Need a couple younger defenders and another midfielder that's about it. And keep hold of Schmeichel, Mahrez etc.

Max Power

Don't see us letting him go for less than £40m and who is gonna pay that realistically? He's had a very patchy season.

I think the sights are set way higher than mere survival. We are 9th right now despite not even playing for six months. Top 8 is the aim and a run at the cups.

Agreed. The manner we took it showed a proper mentality. Either of us should've wrapped it up but we managed to show some class whereas Brighton were all about trying to grind the opposition down. Something we were guilty of when we lost the top spot to them.

Honestly, is it?

Arsenal will be 10 points behind with 5 left to play. United 5 behind with 4 to play.

The former will cock it up again and the latter have too many injuries that the main focus is going to be the Celta Vigo game. A lol as it would be its not happening at this point imo

Gray Fox

The only thing that would make that draw okay would be a draw in the later game today. We're still ahead of Arsenal but a United win later would be really damaging. They are technically ahead of us assuming they win their games in hand.

What I'm struggling to understand is Klopp. We have had 3 games against Southampton this season, in each they have shown no desire to have the ball and sat back, willing to catch us on the counter. In each game they've defended as they did today. How was there still no gameplan for it?

I understand we are minus our best player, but you had a whole transfer window of no activity where we didn't add to our needs either in wide areas or at left back.

Danny
07-05-2017, 02:39 PM
Coutinho played didnt he or am I forgetting someone?

That is a worry though, if they have already done that to you three times you would bet your bollocks to a barndance that they were going to do it again. Especially away.

Gray Fox

He didn't chuck the game in hilarious fashion nor did he come out after and say it would be too easy to coach a team to do that every game.

Even excluding nearly winning the league (lol), he came sixth with a crapper side than what they currently have. Whether he was shit or not basically comes down to who was making their transfers, since that seems to be deliberately muddied by various parties.

Arsenal have to play twice more before Liverpool play again. Those games are Southampton away and Stoke away.

If they are both won and assuming we don't see a big turn around in this game, I think you'll see Liverpool crumble under the pressure. The more irritating thing now is had that penalty gone in, we'd be all but secure in the top 4.

Kikó

Lewis
07-05-2017, 04:58 PM
United are a victim of their own myth-making on this, since they make the Matt Busby side and the 'Class of 92' out to be the norm, rather than truly exceptional exceptions (see: everyone losing the plot when 'LvG' started chucking a bit of money about, and David Moyes claiming they have lost their identity in the same breath as claiming he was promised about a billion quid of new superstars); but they still have a better record than most teams, and must have one of the best records for teams above a certain size.

There's a decent chance Liverpool will fail to win any of their remaining games and yet still finish 4th. United are gone at this point with the games they have left and whilst it would be very Arsenal for them to win all their remaining games, I don't think they will.

I hated Michael Owen, and still do. That little cunt didn't give a shit and missed a few sitters that would have made the difference. Martins/Viduka were just as bad for the latter, but Martins was likeable and a bit shit anyway and with Viduka you'd be impressed if he even turned up. With Owen it was the way he acted after relegation that cemented it.

Wenger just needs to keep playing Holding. He's not by any means amazing or anything but he's young enough to learn and improve at least, and that alone would be enough to justify his place above Gabriel, but I feel they play better with him than Gabriel as well.

Sometimes it feels like kids like that play it extra safe when they get the chance because they are a bit nervous or something, which is kind of what Arsenals defence really needs anyway.

The football yesterday was to be expected and I was disappointed to hear Klopp come out with the "dry pitch" excuse. I watched both games on my iPad but Liverpool were poor throughout and Southampton were barely tested. Manchester United are too focussed on the Europa League for a defeat to Arsenal to mean to much. It was nice to see Granit Xhaka do something more than foul and he is a shadow of the player he was at Monchengladbach. He is too much of a liability to expect next season to be much different despite what they were saying on Sky Sports 1. Arsenal should sign someone else in the summer but there isnt a lot available at the moment. I can see Wenger signing his new deal and bringing Jack Wilshire back and presenting him as a new signing.
