Wladimir Klitschko has recorded his prediction of Saturday's fight against Anthony Joshua on a USB stick which will be sewn into his robe.

Klitschko will wear the robe to the ring and then auction it off after the fight to raise money for his charity foundation.

Only then will the successful bidder be able to watch the video to see if the veteran fighter's prediction for his Wembley contest with Joshua was accurate.

The video has leaked and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/9CIDDKTv5ro

Fury mugging Joshua off with 12 rounds of lobbing overhand jabs onto the top of his head has the potential to generate an unprecedented amount of seethe.

What a fight. That was brilliant.

Fair play to Vlad, he was in the condition of his life for that fight considering his age. Really thought AJ was gone after the 6th.

Not sure a rematch would do it justice. Let it be this. Vlad will only get older and AJ will only get better.

That's a fight to retire on, too. Pass the torch ... to burn all those gays he hates.

EDIT: Caught up this morning. Liked that fight a lot. The way it just turned on the knockdowns and the fact Klitschko was cut made it fascinating. Joshua was properly aggressive and Klitschko was trying to bide his time. None of this clinch-a-minute tat. A rematch won't live up to that.

There was a black and white comparison pic between him and Ali.

I don't see enough boxing to really know. He seemed more energetic and that youthfulness probably made up for any serious errors. Klitschko was more thoughtful and trying to pick his spots whilst Joshua started every round trying to go offensive. They both wound up knackered which probably shows up Wlad's age and Joshua's eagerness to swing.

That was what prompted my question.

I know nothing about boxing, but isn't the heavyweight division a sack of shit at the moment and I'm not sure how getting downed by a 41 year old heralds the sign of the second coming.

This, basically. No wonder he looks good when we've had to put up with those two Slavic tits, a fat gypsy, Haye, Chisora, Bellew and fucking Audley Harrison.

To be fair I think what people enjoy is two very evenly matched competitors. A battle. Problem is whoever wins comes out like a God rather than someone who is pretty average in reality.

niko_cee
30-04-2017, 10:03 AM
Average is very unfair.

The division may have been a farce for years, but I'm not sure that is the case anymore.

People can point to Klitschko's age, but he wasn't old in the 7th round. To get up off the floor and demolish him (in a way no fighter has done for decades) is a fair achievement for a relative novice. Billion Dollar Boxer and all that shit are par for the course these days and of course everyone is getting carried away, but that was probably the best heavyweight title fight since god know's when (I actually can't recall seeing a better one happen live) so getting a bit giddy is excusable.

Yevrah

But where would Joshua rank Niko?

Is he, for example, better than Lennox Lewis?

Shindig
30-04-2017, 10:05 AM
That's what they're after, yeah. You pay money to be there and want a distance out of it. If you get to see a couple of knockdowns and two spent competitors, you've done alright. The Thrilla in Manilla wasn't a fight I'd consider that close but the personal aspect and the fact that Frazier still kept standing made that fight my all-time favourite. This one had that mentor / pupil edge which you don't get to see a lot.

Lewis

Joshua K.O if I was just calling it as a straight, even money bet, but Klit has a live chance. If I was betting on the white man it would be by k.o, though. Don't see him getting a decision over here and Joshua was wobbled by the lighter hitting (and partially injured and knackered) Dillian White, while Wlad has a very high knockout ratio. But he's probably past it. I think Joshua might be a bit overrated myself. He's a bit stiff and robotic, reminds me of Bruno. You can't carry that muscle mass for long before tiring, so if Wlad can take him into the later rounds it might get intersting. Got a strong feeling Joshua has to blow people out early. He was blowing hard against White, who's just a domestic level fighter for me. Wlad's chin is made of glass though, it's just whether Joshua can get to it. At the odds I'd probably have a bit on Wlad by K.O.

There was a bloke on Sky News just now comparing it to the Thrilla in Manila. Calm down, lad.

I would say he has the potential to be better. He's still pretty raw, but he's an absolute specimen and doesn't seem to mind getting involved in a tear up (see the Whyte fight before last night) rather than just sitting behind a gameplan. It'll probably get him knocked out at some point, but then Lewis walked onto one against Rahman so it can happen to anyone in the division. I'm not his biggest fan (but that's probably just being contrarian) but you can't really overlook his potential (or even his achievements to date).

He's not going t be Ali. No one is. Sport isn't like that any more. He could be the best heavywieght of his generation, which is about as much as any boxer can ask for. Very few sports people transcend that.

Shame about all the PEDs he's taking but last night proved Joshua was the real deal. He was able to take a punch and survive when he was gassed out. His punches are explosive and that upper cut is one of the best I've seen.

It would be interesting if Fury could get back into shape and fight him. Very contrasting styles.
