This one's pretty hard on the eyes. I know. If you can find free ones that the community finds acceptable post them in here.

I quite like this one but can't afford it:

Assuming the dugout is actually dead and this takes off I'm more than happy to pay for a skin that makes this place readable.

For a skin? That's fucking hefty.

Still, I'm sure the people of TTH (assuming this move is permanent which looks likely) wouldn't mind donating a couple of quid here and there.

Whenever we have money or a want to buy something we could host a poll.

This one isn't perfect but it is much better than the one in the link.

Let's see if this actually takes off, first. If the old TTH suddenly comes back and is stable, I doubt many will stay here.

Phonics. My posts are being pre-moderated now. Think it was because I signed up when I had the hola extension switched on.

Yeah but you think this one is better than Phonics' first link so your eyes are clearly broken.

Toby
18-09-2015, 03:39 PM
It is. Phonics' first link looks like you should be running it with Windows 95.

EDIT: I guess as related to this as anything else, can we have a fixed link back to the forum at the bottom of each page? There's the drop-down menu but it takes too long. TTH had the path links.

Yeah, it's annoying having to go back to the top of the page for it.

Is there a way to turn off emails telling me I've been quoted? I can't seem to find it.

I have to say I do like the font.

But I hate the font in the quick reply box.

I'm starting to get used to this skin although it is a little bright, everything needs to be a bit smaller too.

Would taking the vBActivity Bars and Stats off the profile make the post boxes smaller?

Toby
18-09-2015, 04:39 PM
Can it be any wider?

Boydy
18-09-2015, 04:40 PM
It was the fluid skin that was the default which spread across my whole screen which was horrible. So I changed it to the normal one that's fixed, narrower width and it's much easier on the eye. Is that what you mean by things needing to be smaller?

I think it's too bright though.

Vim
18-09-2015, 04:45 PM
I'd prefer a narrower interface.

That one's decent, isn't it?

I like the one Phonics and Boydy posted too.

I've been using fluid, metro seems too squished together.

I more meant each individual post takes up too much vertical screen space. And I cannot stand how close the text is to the bottom of the blue bar at the top of each post.

Just far too much white space between the top and bottom of the post, so either the text moves down a bit or ideally the posts themselves are shrunk vertically. Which is why I thought taking off the stats and bars etc might do that.

Although thinking out loud, it may look less odd once people have signatures on here.

That's horrible.. but I do prefer the post box size..

And I think I like the date and time being a header inside the box rather than floating above.

I'm becoming a bit obsessed by this..

Vim

I've switched to Metro and I like it waaaay more. The fluid one's just way too wide, but I don't mind keeping the narrow Metro one actually.

That's not what people mean when they say dark, I hope. Just replacing the white with a grey/blue and making the other bits a little darker like on TD.

This one's fine though, the more I use it the more I like it.

Boydy
18-09-2015, 05:31 PM

Alright, so since we are clearly setting up shop here we might wanna crack on with getting atleast one more skin option to keep everyone happy (or as close as we can get). Above is what we have had posted in here so far. Boydy was nice enough to provide this link:
http://www.themesbase.com/vBulletin-Skins/?version=0&order=&page=3

So have a look and see what you think, anything that takes your fancy? I am up for chipping in, as are a few others so anything reasonable in cost could be done if we can actually pick something.

Of those I am a fan of the one Phonics posted or the first one by Demerit.

Bernanke
22-09-2015, 01:40 AM
Out of those, first one from Demerit by a mile. What's with the black headline above every post in the one Phonics posted? It completely ruins the skin.

Though it might be best to get one that's more customizable as our tastes (*cough* Toby) seem to vary a fair bit.

Here's our current skin: clicky (http://themeforest.net/item/metro-a-theme-for-vbulletin-42-suite/full_screen_preview/3555714)

On there you can see it in different colours. Is the Metro Black & White one more to people's tastes? I think it's a little less intense on the eyes due to the presence of the black.

The Black & White does seem slightly better than this colourscheme, and I have to agree that this skin is growing on me.

Think it's just a money > benefit ratio. You're paying 30-50 bucks for something relatively minor only for not very many people to pirate it off you. So you don't bother.

This one feels modern with nice fonts and the blue is good. Just need the white to be a light grey so it doesn't burn. Most of the other themes seem really windows 95 and the fonts are really blocky and old school.

Second one's probably the best of the two.

Alternatively you could edit Metro-Forum.xml and do Replace All

background-color: #f2f2f2;
with

background-color: #D3D3D3;

which would change the light grey that serves as the background to peoples avatars on the right, to a slightly darker grey.

Then Replace All

background-color: #ffffff;
with

background-color: #f2f2f2;

To change the white to the old grey colour.
