Most of my work are Celtic fans so it'd be quite funny if Rangers found a way to win.

Thankfully if Celtic win 6-0 there aren't enough Rangers fans in work for me to have to hear about it.

He's absolutely lethal. Raheem Reheem is looking like an actual player nowadays too, so if Man City can find a GK content with saving shots and not passing the ball to the other team they've got a tasty couple of years ahead.

Millwall have absolute nothing about them going forward. It's all well and good being organised and not conceding, but you need to have at least some sort of attacking threat.

I don't condone violence in any way, and I love being a twat, but he's doing something which isn't funny against a group of fans well known for being violent. Analysis

BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Murphy

So the Derby players escape responsibility while the manager who has been at the club five months carries the can.

Steve McClaren had an immediate effect last autumn, taking the club out of the bottom four and impressing with his acknowledged coaching skill, but the players shrivelled in the face of promotion expectations.

McClaren had set in place a major overhaul of the dressing room this summer, aware that he had been undermined by some malcontents speaking to club owner Mel Morris, a micro-manager who demands success and is not known for his patience - four managers in just over a year testify to that.

But it is his club, his £100m-plus investment, and he will run it his way.

I won't claim to know the ins and outs of Derby County (Football Club), but that's some proper Proper Football Man ranks-closing there by Pat Murphy.

Lewis
12-03-2017, 11:16 PM
'Mel Morris' is a proper seventies businessman name. The sort who makes his money in something like scrap metal, and therefore knows more about everything than everyone.

This idea that players are responsible and should be blamed for managers getting sacked needs to stop now.

Ian
13-03-2017, 06:55 AM
So players obviously, visibly phoning it in when they can't be arsed with a manager anymore is okay?

There are times when players must bear some of the blame.

Byron
13-03-2017, 07:00 AM
No you're wrong Ian, the manager is always wrong, there is absolutely no area in which the players are ever even partly to blame.

Max Power
13-03-2017, 09:19 AM
Yeah but it's hard to ship out a massive amount of players. And you better be 100% sure the manager you have is the one to completely overhaul the squad.

Bad form is never down to one factor. But changing the manager is a fairly easy and obvious solution.

Jimmy Floyd
13-03-2017, 09:25 AM
It's more down to the balance of power these days being massively in favour of players with the Bosman ruling and high wages. Back in the day, if you crossed the manager he could pretty much finish you if he wanted to, so the players would have to toe the line for the most part. Nowadays, the players can effectively do an unofficial work stoppage if they want the manager replaced, which I think is what happened at Leicester and probably happens everywhere.

It may make sense from a player's point of view but for fans who have normal jobs, that sort of fragging culture is a bizarre and unappealing way to behave. Just another part of the huge divide between footballers and real life.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "We cannot go with Nicky Butt's team [ie players from the under-23 team, managed by Butt]. Manchester United is too big. Manchester United is the winner of the competition.

"It is not Chelsea's fault that we were given this Monday match, so we have to make changes for sure... but we cannot go to Stamford Bridge with a Nicky Butt team."

I don't know French so can't really say anything to dispute what you said. Just seems very odd. I wonder what would happen to football debate if nobody collected statistics.

It would be like it was on here in 2002-4 with pretty much endless 'my dad is bigger than your dad' rhetoric about Henry and van Nistelrooy, which to be fair was arguably more interesting than stats. Although thinking back it may have been largely a young Harold on the Henry side.

The @Ruudesque and @VintageHenry accounts would have had massive followings back then, and there would have been a Tony Blair-led panic about the fourteen year olds running them being targets for grooming.

That would be kind of awkward now. But then where does it all end? Because all of a sudden this will be the thread for this weekends football as well, because might as well, and all of a sudden it becomes the new new Late night thread and kills the board.
