Personally, I think they're a bunch of twats so I wanted them to lose. They do seem to be a 'love em or hate em' team, so where do you fall?

I enjoyed it as a spectacle. So yes, I suppose.

Always happy to see something extraordinary like that, so yes.

Happy for the sheer spectacle of it. Takes some mental strength to do that after being scudded 4-0 in the first leg.

Shocker from PSG.

Kind of cool to see a comeback like that, but I'd rather if it was someone more likeable doing it as I got very little enjoyment out of that. That Suarez dive for the 5-1 penalty made it even more shit.

Mostly ambivalent.

Although they're basically a poster boy for all the 'special club' bullshit so it would have been amusing to see them lolled out early.

It was an entertaining game and PSG are an absolute nothing side so not unhappy to see them gone.

However PSG would have been a more favourable tie for us in the next round when we beat Sevilla.

Course not, it's fucking Barcelona.

It was exciting as fuck. Toby would have hated it.

No, but there isn't much to love about PSG either. Or anything, frankly.

Raoul Duke

Leicester vs. Barca (mate) in the final, ideally

I'm not happy for them. I'm happy for myself a bit because I won a little bit of money, but yeah - I really really don't like Barcelona.

Barca, mate died a while back. It's now UFC, mate or NFL, mate.

Sounds like it. I had a supermarket curry though so my evening was 100% relevant.

I don't really get the Barcelona hate.

I don't really get the Barcelona hate.
It's for people who can't deal with things that are popular.

It's fashionable.

They're a bunch of smug cunts and Messi dodges tax, what more do you want?

Don't people always tend to dislike teams that are doing very well? There's also the 'Mes Que un Club' bullshit that''s a bit much too. Although were they the plucky underdogs I don't think many would mind it.

Jimmy Floyd

I don't like any big clubs actually. Juventus have never done anything to slight me I guess, but there's something of the night about them with their creepy nickname and crap attendances.

Bayern I quite like as they're such a ridiculous circus.

Most of the ones who seem to hate them don't seem to care about tax dodging anywhere else.

I don't care about the Champions League but I had money on them, so I'm happy for me.

I think this is the crux of it. Not that that was necessarily bullshit but that we have this macho cynicism on here (and all over the internet) where you can't be seen to care about anything and everything is just lolz and bants and up for joking about (see 'faggot'-gate, all the past racism on here, Lewis' constant jokes about Hillsborough) so of course the club that has traded most on that image of being more than just a football club/business over the years comes in for the most scorn.

This again ties into what I was saying about 'seethe' the other day.

I don't even know what 'Mes Que un Club' actually means but I just know it's some self indulgent rubbish that you can probably find written on the official Commemorative Mug™. That's enough for a mild preference that they went out.

Are we considering this moment as a full blown MELTDOWN??

Offshore Toon

According to the poll the popular opinion on here is to dislike Barcelona, so the real hipsters are actually Reg and Boydy.

The only thing they have, other than being good, that distinguishes it from any other club is the tie in to Catalan nationalism, so if you like nationalism then OK. Otherwise going around calling yourself that is asking to be mocked. Halifax Town is 'more than a club' to those to whom it matters.

I wouldn't go as far in analysing it as you Boydy, but I think we've read the same Guardian article (iirc) that your post reminds me of.

I think it's just down to people wanting the underdog to win and being bored of the same clubs doing well (unless its the one you support). That's why people laugh at Arsenal or hope that Barcelona and their likes suffer humiliating defeats, just to make football more interesting. Also recent success always brings in new insufferable fans which probably plays to the 'hatred' too.

Yeah but Bilbao does that number so much classier in that they actually field players from where they come from.

Don't be mugs, ya cunts.

And then some people argue they are racist/whatever for doing so... you basically can't win in football, there are angry people everywhere waiting to call you a disgrace and demand your immediate sacking.

To be fair, I should be happy for Barca since I found out tonight my Chinese flatmate is a huge fan.

I don't really like PSG either but my response when I saw the Barcelona score was a roll of the eyes. Then a snort of amusement when I saw an own goal and two penalties combined with all the late goals.

Goals against PSG aside are Barcelona any better to watch these days or are they still trying to redefine the true meaning of tedium?

Giggles
09-03-2017, 07:47 AM
Didn't watch because you could see that coming a mile off with all the tosh about the manager leaving and PSG still being French no matter how much money they have. Can't stand bartha anyway because of the amount of LAD wankery surrounding them and the fact that their style of football always made then boring as fuck to watch.

Didn't watch it but will watch the second half when I get home from work. More interested in hearing the commentators jizz themselves over the 95th minute winner.

Happy for Suarez so voted yes.

I don't really like Barcelona, but the reasons to dislike PSG are better, so yeah nice one lads. I'm not having GREATEST COMEBACK EVER though. Barcelona bashing a set of French fannies at home is hardly a shocking result (PSG bumming them 4-0 was the bigger stand-alone surprise), and that is the entire point of having two matches in a tie. It's not Liverpool and Milan, or even United and Bayern.
