I hope the BBC go all-in on the Greater Manchester Derby to justify their boring match choice.

CJay
27-01-2017, 09:25 PM
That second Derby goal was shocking from a Leicester point of view. Morgan was so sluggish. How they invested all that money in the summer and didn't think that a defender of some kind was needed is amazing.

CJay
27-01-2017, 09:38 PM
At least he's still good for something.

Jimmy Floyd

You have to say that's a deserved equaliser, Derby have been cowards backing off in the last 20 like all McClaren teams do.

CJay

You have to say that's a deserved equaliser, Derby have been cowards backing off in the last 20 like all McClaren teams do.

I don't know why, because they made Leicester look like a League 2 team with their pressing in the first half.

CJay
27-01-2017, 09:46 PM
That was a quality game, tbf.

I'm reading an enthralling 'Who has the best back-up goalkeeper?' discussion on Twitter, and apparently 'expected saves' is a thing now.

Lewis
27-01-2017, 09:57 PM
The answer is Arsenal, in case you were wondering.

niko_cee

Yeah, I saw a thing about those the other day (as part of a general Claudio Bravo assassination piece).

John

'Expected saves' have been around for a while but they've taken far longer to catch on than net spend or calendar year goals did.

Jimmy Floyd

I think the evidence from his first two seasons suggests that Klopp is going to seriously struggle with not having that ridiculous six week winter break and he can't get his head around it.

John Arne
28-01-2017, 01:21 PM
I have no idea why he has picked this team. As mentioned above, we deserve to go out. Championship teams deserve more respect that Conor fucking Randell, Ejaria, Woodburn and Gomez in the same team.

Shindig
28-01-2017, 01:23 PM
Did Klopp take the cups seriously at Dortmund?

Lewis

He's making his own winter break, of sorts. Imagine the fitness advantage that being out of everything will bring come April.

John Arne

Playing the exciting young striker at right wingback is all very Brendan Rodgers.

Jimmy Floyd

I'm looking forward to the scouse phone-inners questioning whether yeeeeeeeeeehhhrueuuueueheerrrrgen Klopp is good enough, even though he's probably the best manager they will ever have again.

Gerrard waiting in the wings too. What's Kenneh up to these days?

Both teams scored so at least my betslip is still on.

Bring back Sadio.

Gray Fox
28-01-2017, 02:25 PM
Absolutely deserved.

It would have been nice if anyone at the club actually showed that they cared about the FA Cup, before about 5 minutes to go.

Only if you're going on the history of football according to Sky, but I remember them in the top flight some time around the mid to late 80's.

I went there when I was in England. Best they had to offer then was the Christmas market and our since lost member Draper.

Sutton United vs Arsenal in the 5th Round.

John Arne

That's a brilliant draw. Fair play to them. Should keep them running for the next couple of decades.

They won't actually make that much money with it being a home game, right? Obviously it should be televised which will definitely bring in a lot of cash - unless the Beeb go with Man Utd again.

Jimmy Floyd
30-01-2017, 07:53 PM
They're Sutton United, their normal income is probably from beers at the bar and single figure match tickets. They've made £215,000 just from prize money already, add 2x live TV which is probably two lots of six figures and it'll be life changing.

Lewis
30-01-2017, 07:57 PM
More importantly, it's something to refer back to for the next few years when TWATS run the competition down.

CJay

When the names came out the BBC made a big thing about Lincoln being drawn away to 'Premier League opposition', but would their fans really consider that a big draw? There's not much difference between Burnley and Blackburn, no matter what league they're in.

Shindig

TV money's more likely, though.
