Let's keep this winning run up, please. Party like it's October 2016. Newcastle Eagles are on the BBC website on Friday, as well.

Big weekend for us top two. Hopefully it goes our way but I'd definitely take matching your result, especially since our game in hand is coming Tuesday.

United haven't won at Stoke for four seasons.

Kikó

It'll be a tough game. Leslie always makes it difficult for us.

Reg

One of the worst goals I've seen us concede at this level.

Knockaert is class. We surely have to go up to keep him.

Sheffield Wednesday have lost their heads. Good win for Brighton, that.

Reg
20-01-2017, 09:48 PM
Really good game. Only a few pieces of genuine quality but good entertainment. Stockdale was so far off his line for the penalty save, I don't know how linesmen don't spot those.

niko_cee
20-01-2017, 10:05 PM
Massive win. The Murray red card was absolutely absurd. He was in the middle of the box and it was going straight at the keeper.

Raoul Duke
21-01-2017, 01:02 PM
Why are Liverpool intent on flinging crosses into the box? Do they still think Benteke plays for them?

There's no other outlet really. They miss Mané so much.

Great goal.

John Arne
21-01-2017, 01:41 PM
Sturridge for Can, please. Drop Lallana back. Can isn't dynamic, or good enough, to play that 2nd midfielder role.

Gray Fox
21-01-2017, 01:42 PM
Maybe not so slowly then.

At least it's game on now.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Gray Fox
21-01-2017, 01:49 PM
Mane is such a big loss. We have no width on the right and Milner will always cut back onto his right.

Moreno could well thrive in a game like this(if he's ever going to).

SvN
21-01-2017, 01:51 PM
Why is Llorente getting booed? Haven't really been paying attention other than the goals.

John Arne
21-01-2017, 01:53 PM
Oh great, Sturridge has adopted his "I'll stand behind the defenders and hope they miss it", rather than coming short actually challenging for the ball.

John Arne
21-01-2017, 01:56 PM
I knew calling him crap last week would spur on the white-teethed chav.

Jimmy Floyd

Surely Gylfi has to move to a better club at some stage. Maybe not Tottenham better. But possibly Everton better.

Fellaini starts, presumably to counter those Rory Delap throws.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Dropping Carrick for bog brush, ugh.

Boydy
21-01-2017, 02:21 PM
Why has Matip not been playing today? I thought he'd been cleared to play.

There he is. Bit fucking late and at the wrong end of the pitch. Maybe if he'd started in defence they'd not have got into this mess.

Break out the graphs gents, the bust begins.

Gray Fox
21-01-2017, 02:27 PM
He's been out since around November so will probably need some fitness.

Deserved win for Swansea. Bombscare Lovren/Klavan cost us yet more points. Mingolet didn't really have a chance with any of the 3 either.

Liverpool's record without Mané must be absolutely tragic.

He's bound to break his leg in the Afcon final.

Gray Fox
21-01-2017, 02:41 PM
I know we haven't won without him, but I'm not even sure we pick up many draws.

Emre Can and Wijnaldum as a midfield pair is seriously shown up in these games too. I'd like to say we'd find someone who can pass in the centre, but who am I kidding thinking we're going to sign anyone?

Just looked at the table. How the fuck are Burnley in the top half? We can't collectively be letting Sean Dyche do that.

Lewis
21-01-2017, 03:09 PM
Ander Herrera bravely gets another player booked. Next United captain.

Just looked at the table. How the fuck are Burnley in the top half? We can't collectively be letting Sean Dyche do that.

Apparently they are 3rd in the home form/results table. I know Liverpool binned it there (sans Mané) but has anyone else (allegedly) good been there and lost? I know Arsenal robbed them late.

Jimmy Floyd
21-01-2017, 04:15 PM
They've beaten Liverpool, Everton, Watford, Palace, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Southampton. So not really.

That's all 8 of their wins as well.

Lewis
21-01-2017, 04:24 PM
Does Bobby Charlton have to go to every game, no matter how shit and bad for his health, until this record is broken? Poor bastard.

Sir Andy Mahowry
21-01-2017, 04:30 PM
Haven't watched any of it but losing a game in which Fellaini starts shocker.

The sooner he is put down and a replacement for Carrick is found the better.

Lewis
21-01-2017, 04:33 PM
He was one of their better players until he went off.

Lewis

Our match felt like the least likely 4-0 win.

Sir Andy Mahowry
21-01-2017, 06:08 PM
That Lloris save from Aguero's header was a typical save from a guy I knew when I was younger.

Always dived around the place even when it goes right to him.

To go back to the stadium shit from the other day, this (https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/jan/21/chelsea-tottenham-new-stadiums-stamford-bridge-white-hart-lane) otherwise wank article has some lol hints towards the value of new mega-grounds:

The team from White Hart Lane have accumulated a lifetime of memories within those four stands. There is a soul here, created over 100 years, that cannot just be recreated when the keys arrive for the new place. As for the new 61,000-capacity stadium, it is probably a measure of the way football is heading that for a Ł15,000 joining fee – as long as there are two or more people joining – there will be access to one lounge where, at half-time, you can be ushered into the stadium’s own fromagerie.

Other supporters can watch from just behind the manager’s technical area, at Ł339 a match. Alternatively, there is the glass-walled Tunnel Club allowing members to get a behind‑the‑scenes view as the players enter or leave the pitch. Spurs will have an in-house bakery, a microbrewery, the longest bar in the country, measuring 86.8 metres, and heated seats, with USB ports, in case anyone wants to get out their laptops. Which wasn’t a regular occurrence, it has to be said, for the old boys on the Shelf.

Hopefully that micro-brewery becomes known as the Eileen Drewery.

Everything about that stadium sounds like a nightmare. Just give us a concourse with food and drink. A match is not an event. It's a foregone conclusion. All Spurs really needed was a way to get rid of those concrete pillars. Too far, lads. Too far.

I don't think people are grasping quite how badly we are playing right now. We don't create chances and we ship soft goals to everyone. The team is broken from front to back and Ranieri is fumbling for solutions that make no sense.

Burnley away, Man Utd at home and Swansea away next three. First two are losses and lose the third and they'll be above us.

Max Power
22-01-2017, 05:13 PM
Are there things you would have done differently at the start of the season?

I wouldn't have given every single squad member regardless of age or quality a massive new contract and I'd have signed at least three defenders (2 CB, 1 RB) who can run and pass the ball a bit.

We will never be as attractive as we were in the summer and went half arsed in recruitment until deadline day when we spent Ł30m on Slimani without really knowing how we were going to play with him.

Those mistakes were made now it's about making the best of what we have and I don't see solutions from Ranieri and I don't see enough from the players.

The fans are starting to turn, get rolled in front of 5,500 travelling fans Friday night at Derby and it will start to get very poisonous I think. Still some time in the window to bring in some defenders and maybe a creative midfielder but I doubt it.

Chelsea can lose the next two weeks and they'll still piss the league.

They aren't losing to arsenal though.

You play Liverpool next week.

They play Arsenal and Liverpool in the same week.

Chelsea realistically need to lose both of those for anyone else to have a shout, and even then you are banking on the various north london bottlers to not do what they inevitably will.

The real danger is probably one of the Manchesters getting their act together in that scenario, which nobody really wants.

Not when you check out Man United's fixtures. I swear they has a tougher run than what is coming up.

Still, plenty of games to go.

I personally would be reluctant to write Manchester City off too but that's purely because I'm not convinced it's going to be as easy as everyone seems to be assuming for Chelsea.

Was at the bowl yesterday. Against my better judgement I booked a hospitality package for the family, to celebrate my dad's 60th. It'll take me about a decade to pay the thing off, but have to say that it was fucking top notch from start to finish and was absolutely spot on for the occasion. Sammy Nelson the host in the director's box which fitted perfectly with the era when my old man started following the club.

Some fucking sights in Club Level though. Fuck me. The yuppie in front of me was on gocompare on his tablet for most of the first half.

I went to the West Brom match on boxing day and the guy in front streamed most of the first half to Facebook Live (with commentary) and then gave the audience a half time punditry panel with his fucking retard mate and a 7 year old who seemed to know more than him (well he was able to identify Lucas Perez as Spanish rather than French).

It's also going to have a one-way glassed players tunnel, where you pay a premium for your seat for the privilege of being one of the lucky ones to see in.

After football self-combusts, these things are all going to be viewed in the same manner as Peter Ridsdale's fish tank and Darlington's 25,000 seater stadium. Tragic, Ozymandian wastes of life.

Still, if Führer Gove needs a 60,000 seater venue for one of his rallies, the new Chelsea ground will be perfect.

Old Trafford seems to just have a load of suites and boxes, making a mockery of their claims to Big Clubness.

On that, I got a ticket to Hull vs United for eighteen quid off some disgruntled season ticket holder my cousin knows. I might write 'PLEASE BUY GRIEZMANN' on a cereal box like that spaz did in 2004 and see if it gets me on telly.

Spurs have to stay decent enough so they can catch the wave of kids growing up post-gentrification of the Tottenham area. Arsenal caught the Islington lot and Tottenham (being slightly further out) have to wait for bankers etc. to make their way up to there. It's happening (2-bed flats for >Ł400k), so they'll be alright.

I know a few guys over here who have taken up supporting Tottenham because more or less they're not Man United, Chelsea, or Arsenal.

That's what you get for not picking a football club out of thin air as small children, you hipster cunts.

I had to have a bit of a laugh when Leicester won last year as they REALLY thought their cheeky little "we're not glory hunting plastics we promise!" bit was going to pay off rather quickly but LC never faded away like they'd hoped.
