If you don't like the FA Cup, you don't like football. This is a dreadful draw though. Every single higher ranked team seems to be at home.

Max Power
06-01-2017, 08:03 PM
Definitely feeling the magic in those TV games. Manchester United at home to Reading particularly evocative.

Jimmy Floyd
06-01-2017, 08:06 PM
Interesting that BT went for the three biggest fanbases, whereas the BBC went for some slightly more interesting games. Who had first pick?

Giggles
06-01-2017, 08:16 PM
I'll still watch. I didn't realise there were as many games on TV with the font colours in Reg's post.

Yeah me neither, I only clocked the BT Sport ones at first glance.

Anyone fancy any upsets?

I'm thinking Brighton and Rotherham will sack this off (both draws).

The best thing about this is seeing players you forgot existed. Delph being prime.

There's not much looking likely. I'll go with Norwich and Bolton, if Norwich would even be a shock at this stage.

The FA Cup os great but you can stick West Ham vs City up your arse. They already play twice a season. The lowest ranking sides should have their games televised.

Jimmy Floyd

Sutton v Wimbledon will be a great tie, although I may have a saaaf London bias.

Listening to a Leicester City game on the radio for the first time in years. The boy Ndidi SOUNDS like he's having a good game.

Jimmy Floyd
07-01-2017, 03:51 PM
Radio is a great way to experience football. I imagine the game like I'm the ref trotting about the pitch, and the players are all subbuteo figures moving in straight lines and whipping crosses in.

Here comes the yearly "I fancy a cup run..." before we draw Arsenal away.

Some fun teams through. Wycombe Wanderers, Millwall, 'Accrington Stanley...' and Oxford to name a few.

Growing up it was all I ever wanted. Our history was losing two FA Cup finals and our present was winning the league Cup. Always wanted the FA Cup because I felt it was the pinnacle a club of our size could achieve (then last season happened lol)

Could do something though. Few Prem teams out already and we are still a decent team. Ranieri a decent Cup manager as well.

Played on a guitar with an effects pedal. True story.

I agree though. It becomes a bit meaningless if three hundred different clubs share the tune. Goal music should be binned.

I'm watching a few of these 'Premier League Legends' half hour paeans on Sky. I don't know if it's because he came after the Ian Wright edition, and Ian Wright is probably the most likeable person in football, but I can't remember anyone coming across as badly as Sulzeer 'Sol' Campbell.

Liverpool's XI is an utter joke.

Chelsea's is a lot better and it also transpires we have a journeyman Portuguese keeper on the bench that I didn't know we had. Do clubs sign these people just to give the main keepers a good warm-up? Keeper warm-ups always transfix me when I go to games.

Apparently they covered more distance than any other team in the league this year versus us. I can imagine putting in that shift only to draw 3-3 makes everyone's legs a bit heavier.

Good trip yesterday aside from the two hours in the ground. Cup trips no longer safe from the absolute mongs infesting our support. The Pro-/Anti-Wenger stuff on the concourse at half-time ended in a full scale punch-up and all the fucking kiosks were promptly shut. Wankers. That first half demanded a few beers.

Thought Xhaka and Mustafi really excelled and look like Ł70m well spent.

Jimmy Floyd
09-01-2017, 08:50 AM
Klopp is pretty lol at times.

Asked about the long, midweek trip for the FA Cup replay, which is set to be played on 17 January, Klopp added: "Yippee. I don't know if at home they can play the same defensive style. We are looking forward to it."

As if he's whingeing about a fourth tier side setting up to defend at Anfield.

Offshore Toon
09-01-2017, 09:41 AM
Klopp is a bit of a bellend. I think its purely because the press constantly use his attention-seeking quotes as headlines that I think that, though. I used to think he was alright, but now all I see is quotes that even Kikó would be proud of. Klopp or Kikó? would be a great quiz, come to think of it.

As if he's whingeing about a fourth tier side setting up to defend at Anfield.

This is the problem with reading quotes out of context. He didn't moan about the way the played at all - he simply said they played fairly defensively (which they did) and he wondered whether they would play the same way at home. It was a completely mundane, boring answer.

I know a draw is probably the best result for Plymouth when you factor in the replay cash (sigh), but there must be some sense in which they feel they might have missed a trick yesterday. That Liverpool team was there to be beaten and getting smashed by a slightly stronger side in a few weeks is hardly going to be a thing to dine out on for years (although I suppose Boom managed to do so when Exeter won 0-0 against United way back when).

*wistful*

I remember when we drew with Liverpool and then lost the replay. Increased our annual turnover by 40% that did . . .
