Fairytale of New York appreciation thread

I don't know if it's my age, but I never used to be a fan of Fairytale. Now, though, I appreciate that it's songwriting at its absolute peak, an artistic and possibly even literary masterpiece. Structurally perfect, conceptually brilliant. Appreciate it here, and post other, inferior Christmas songs for our listening delectation.

I must have heard this song a lot of times, but I've never once absorbed the lyrics, so I've no idea what it's actually about.

The tune's grown on me over time though.

It is a brilliant song by a wonderful band. It was beaten to number one by Always on my Mind by the Pet Shop Boys, but I don't really care because that's brilliant as well.

I love that Nightmare Before Christmas song like no other, it just fills me with joy every time I hear it. However, I've noticed leaking through my mates TV that it appears to be in an advert these days which is a shame. Speaking of animated Christmas songs being bastardised by ads.
