View Full Version : Which life would you prefer?
Choice A: You eat any food you like, paying no attention to whether the meals, snacks, deserts etc you eat are healthy or not. You die at 65.
Choice B: You eat only the healthiest animal products, fruit and vegetables, beans, nuts etc, and aren't allowed any sugar/high-carb foods (sweets, chocolate, cake, ice cream, burgers, pizza etc). You extend your life by 15 years and die at 80.
I suppose it'd be different if I had a family or anything that actually mattered to care about but right now I'd be happy enough with A.
My mum isn't 65 yet and is already going a bit mental. Fuck that.
What and where is choice C?

I'll go with the option that allows a retirement.

Are you having your are wiped at 80 or are you still relatively healthy? If so, then B is definitely a no-brainer even though I'm too lazy and am living A.

Absolutely no contest. Choice A.
Can't see many choosing the latter?
Edit: maybe not! Food is a huge part of my life, I'd trade 15 years of watching Bargain Hunt for that no bother at all.

When you put it like that then B; but if you're now going to lecture me on how/why I should already be doing that then fuck off lad.
The fuck is this shit. :D
'A' obviously.

Of course not. I can understand either option. A big concern would be not having a retirement as Shindig says.
And no, Pepe.
You can retire whenever you want, surely. If you know you're dying at 65 then save some and just go bananas at 45.

I move between the two food groups you've described and, on the whole, prefer B. Eating healthier has short-term effects that make it worthwhile, let alone long-term. Also, if you can cook, which I can, you can make delicious meals with healthier foods. A good spice rack makes all the difference. A pizza/burger/whatever is nice every now and then, but it makes me feel lethargic if I have a whole day of shit food.

B. I'd lose the years between 40 and 55, but from 65 on it's smooth sailing and traveling the world as long as your health doesn't go. My grandparents had the time of their life after they retired.
Also, if you go without anything for long enough you stop missing it so much.

Yeah, retirement (if we get one), and the older years in general, will be quality. Life, on average, gets better as you go on, so I can only imagine how good it'll be when you're so old that nobody will smack you.
Life as an old man looks shit to me.

I've lived as one for the past 20 years, it's not so bad.

You'll likely have to get a move on when you throw someone's jacket in a sink no matter how old you are.
I'll take B.
Also 'traveling the world' only applies to privileged wankers. My father had to work until he died at seventy and my mom will have to work until the day she dies (I think she's about sixty now.)
I guess privileged non-wankers can travel too.

If I was old enough I'd just start crying and claim dementia.

I choose B then die at 30 because of a genetic disease.

Am I allowed cheese with option B? Pasta? Steak?

It's funny as I've gone from option A to option B and it's definitely going to extend my life but I have found you get to a point where the sugary goodness of option A is all an illusion and option B contains some very real alternatives that are both healthier and just as simple to conjure up. Whilst eating vegetables isn't quite the experience it was initially, I have come to realise that I do actually like a lot of it. Sprouts can get fucked though.
On the sweeter side, it's really much easier to bake your own goodies and I imagine you'd struggle to notice the difference.
Much easier than what? Buying them from a shop?

Fuck paying for any gluten free products if you can avoid it. It costs a bomb. Buy the ingredients yourself then much more bang for your buck whilst baking to your preferences init.

B, because I have it in my mind that I'd like to have Grandkids one day, and then I imagine I'd like to spend as much time with them.
Besides, eating healthy seems to make you generally feel better whenever you manage it, so if it was forced upon you like that - why not.
There's always beer.
And anyway if you stick chips in a blender, technically it's a shake, so fuck you.

Unless you actually have a gluten allergy you fucking deserve to be ripped off. More hipster shit.
I have a very healthy diet, but I rather be able to do whatever the fuck I want than give up my freedomz for the promise of some better life 30 years from now. YOLO or something.
Pasta and beer are both 'high-carbs' so they wouldn't be allowed. Same with 'home-baked goodies.'
No pasta no party. I've already chosen 'A'.

Affirmative. I wouldn't wish it on many people because it's such a faff when starting out. Who knew wheat existed in so many things.
