There used to be programs that purported to scan your HD and find deleted files but I've never tried one.

I would have used my Delorean, but after my brush with the rozzers, I'm too scared to go 88mph any more...

Do you have a restore point, Yev?

For example this: http://www.piriform.com/download may or may not fill your computer with spyware.

I tried one earlier, but it wants me to pay to recover any files and as the previews don't work I'm far from convinced it's found what I'm looking for.

What did you delete and why?

Sounds like a scam.

Sounds like a scam.

I thought so too.

What did you delete and why?

A couple of spreadsheets. One of which contained passwords to all the sites I use. Nothing sensitive, but I'm fucked if I can remember my IMDB password, for example and that, like many other sites are linked to an email address I've long since stopped using.

If you do get it back, install Lastpass on everything.

Sadly not.

Recuva seems alright, in that it's at least a lot quicker than the shite I tried earlier.

There are plenty of software that will recover it. The more you use the computer in question though, the less likely it is that you'll be able to recover stuff.

Pirate one?

Nah. Just some trial thing that I downloaded which was shite.

Recuva on the other hand is awesome and it's worked. :jayjay:

Yep, so few of the files recuva could find were recoverable. Presumably as soon as you start recycling other stuff on top of it it's game over.

This reminds me, about four years ago I made a thread asking pretty much the same question, and someone, I think it was Taz, pulled this (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/delete-system32) on me and I nearly fell for it.

Recuva is legit, but yeah - use 1Password or LastPass or something

:D

You fucking lying cunt. How hard is it to password reset on those sites? Pull the other one you nonce.
