Got my Pikachu. Caught a Voltorb on the way back and a Weedle feet from the door. There's a bunch of spots within maybe 500m of each other and two gyms pretty much next door to each other, both owned by the red team. One of the spots I stopped at, gave me a 5km egg, so I look forward to hatching that at some point. My only problem is my data usage limit of 2GB. Has anyone noticed what amount of data, all day PoGoing uses up?

I have a few injured Pokemon on low health. How do I use a potion on them to heal?

Click on a potion in the items menu then choose the Pokemon you want to heal. You get potions randomly from Pokestops.

One thing I only found out last night - if you own a gym (or more) you can go into the shop and claim 10 gold coins and 500 stardust. Can only be done once every 20 hours so you have to time it right.

Had a busy morning. On the way to the pool I picked up about 10 Pokestops worth of goodies and caught a bunch of Pokemon. Strongest was a 60CP Magnemite, other noteworthy catches include an Abra and Zubat. Need another 3k exp for level 5, not that I'll be in any way ready to take on the local gyms just yet. Best game ever. :drool:

Despite living on the coast, I have an abundance of Electric types and not a single Water type. Also caught myself a CP22 Electrode and hatched a CP19 Diglett. The rest are dull and boring.

Mahow, any idea on when it is worthwhile to start evolving shit? Should I just be evolving stuff asap to go up levels quicker or wait for higher CP Pokemon so I can have more badass Pokemon? I suppose there must be an optimum strategy.

Evolve shit like Pidgey and Rattata as they only take 12 candies and you can get that easily. Don't evolve anything that costs a lot of candy until later on when you know what you want to train.

There's basically never a good time to go to the gyms, they're not really worthwhile, unless you want to stock up on coins and a bit of extra stardust.

I just do it because I like walking past and seeing me and my Pokemon King of the castle.

So, after finally catching a Magnemite today, I came to think of how many of the more "common" Pokemon that I haven't even seen once yet. Neither these nor any evolution, not even as "nearby":
I on the other other hand have Magnemites coming out of my ears. They should hurry up and patch in trading.

Went on a longish walk this morning to a lookout tower which turned out to be a gym. Caught more than 30 Pokes and rose to level 7. New entries in the Pokedex include Ekans, Seel, Doduo, Oddish, Staryu and Drowzee. Still nothing as cool as AD's Jynx. :(

I have no idea how people are managing to get anything of a decent level given that about 50% of the times I try and play it doesn't connect, and when it does connect it tends to freeze and chuck me out whenever I catch anything. I lost a Venonat yesterday that would have been my 3rd highest.

Three new additions to the Pokedex in the form of Growlithe, Bulbasaur and Venonat. Up to level 9 now too. After a transfer clearout I've amassed the equivalent of 35k worth of exp in preparation for the grind I will carry out at level 10. Come to me Pidgeys. :drool:

Wasted all my poke balls on a Pidgeot which was hopeless and I got nowhere near it. So horrible not having any and having to raid the poke stops every 10 minutes. Back up to 16 now!

Added Krabby and Pidgeot (evolved mine to get over the disappointment) to the pokedex and discovered 2 new poke stops not far from my regular 2. Not too bad.

The fairly modest park in Rugby town centre has about 8 pokestops, and there's about 7 in quick succession on the short road leading up to it. Park is excellent for catching stuff as there's almost always a lure module on at least one of them in there.

Wait until you've got shit loads of crappy pokemon to evolve like rattatas and then spam them all with the lucky egg activated. Ideally combine with going to a few pokestops too - especially if there's lures around!

Activate one before you do a mass evolution of Pidgeys or something else, and you gain levels like crazy. I'm at 15 now.

A trip to the lake (different lake) yielded me a Magikarp (2 down, 98 to get) and 2 high level Psyduck, one of which was about 220 or so. Not too bad.

This morning I've reached level 10 and have activated operation "Huge exp gain", by placing three 10k eggs in their incubators. Need another 9.5km of walking though.

Other than that, caught some decent new Pokes including Tentacool, Poliwag, Jigglypuff, Goldeen and Machop. Plus hatched a CP287 Ponyta. :drool:

I'll just catch what I can before the weekend and then evolves it all at the weekend whilst going to the lake with it's a million poke stops and using my lure on one of them. Might eat outside later as it's nice so I'll probably give it a look then.

I still have no idea why anyone would play it if they didn't already enjoy Pokemon. The gameplay itself is shit.

Hyper Training allowing you to increase your IVs is pretty amazing from a competitive/breeding standpoint. Presumably you can also decrease them to get certain types of Hidden Power/reduce damage from moves like Foul Play.

The new pokemon are fairly average, but there are a few potentially interesting abilities, and the ability to create your own competitions could be fun - TTH tournament, anyone? :)

Just finished an evolution session. 550 odd Exeggcute evolved into a beast and is now my highest CP pokemon, which was a bit unexpected.

Nearly fucked up the mass exp gain operation. Went for a long walk and on the way back saw my eggs were sitting at 200m from hatching, so I sat down, triggered my Lucky Egg and started evolving Pidgeys and anyone else who had enough candies. Stupidly I didn't notice my battery was getting dangerously close to running out. So I packed up and started walking home as quick as I could. Luckily the eggs hatched before the phone died (Hitmonchan, Jynx and Chansey). Got in, put the phone on charge and had enough time to evolve everything bar three Pidgeys. Start of the morning I was only just at level 10, right now I'm 3k away from level 15. :drool:

I now have a 2nd Lucky Egg so I'm going to use the first when my 10km egg gets near to hatching. I'll probably chuck in an extra 5km one when that one reaches 5km. Had a good haul of Pidgey/Weedle/Rattata today thanks to someone putting a lure on a Poke Stop.

Added some new mons to the dex today- Meowth, Sandshrew (egg) and Gastly... and then a 402 CP Vileplume :drool:. That actually gave me enough Oddish candies to evolve one into Gloom, but I'll wait until I do the lucky egg, especially as Gloom will be a new mon.

I evolved 6 Pidgeys, 8 Weedles, 1 Caterpie, 4 Rattatas, 2 Voltorbs, 2 Magnemites and a Zubat, so 24. If you don't mess up like I did, you could evolve 60 with each one taking about half a minute to watch the evolution clip.

Got to level 15 by catching loads of duplicates and a 581 Persian. Ended up with 25 Pokeballs. Probably need to stop catching shit for a while.

I went to a local lake and sat by a pokestop which had been lured.

Also used an incense and caught a boat load of pidgeys, sperows and rattatas. Also added an Abra, a seel, a zubat, a gastly, a magnemite, a killer drowsee and a poliwag.

Also hatched a Horsea and a gay weedle plus I caught a Staryu after I finished shopping at Sainsburys.

Didn't see a single fucking magikarp though.

I also had to resist the urge to laugh a kid who was boasting to his friends that he's now a level 8.

Not too bad of a day.

So 12K, then 5K from your 10km and 5km eggs if you get two new Pokes. If you are good at catching things on the go, trigger an incense as well and hope for new Pokes for 1.2K from each of them. Should net you 20K and two levels.

If it says there's nothing nearby I always check to see if the Poke Stops are there. If they aren't you know it's not loaded properly and will have to quit out. If they are then usually some stuff will be nearby soon after you start walking.

Despite the nightmares I've had this evening I've just discovered the method to make sure your first Poke Ball always hits. Sure, it doesn't always catch, but I'll use that on those cunt Zubats.

Gutted about the incense, but I have some Lures, so I'll use that instead with my Lucky Egg seeing as my nearest Poke Stop is a bench. :D

Oh and today I learnt that the Lego Darth Vader they have in my local John Lewis is a Poke Stop. :D I didn't go to it because it's not worth the effort of navigating that store, but that's the best Poke Stop in the world.

Not sure if you guys are aware of this or not, but you can control the evolutions of Eevee by renaming it to its corresponding master in the animated version. I renamed it Sparky, evolved it and sure enough I got a Jolteon.

Reached a 1/3 of the way through the Pokedex today. Went on a gym capturing/reinforcing spree to use up the Potions which were floating around taking up important Pokeball space in the bag. At one point had seven Pokemon holding seven gyms. Unfortunately as I was making my way home, one by one my gyms fell. Have a 324 Shellder guarding my last gym on the busiest road outside the neighbouring village. I'd be shocked if it lasts the night.

Servers seem alright tonight but I've not managed to get a great haul regardless. Done alright though adding a few mons but nothing new. As it stands I could evolve:
Drowzee (though I'm sure I've caught more than 1 since my update and still only have 50 candies, is there a cap?)

Pidgey x 4 (If I transfer 11 of the 15 I have).
Rattata x 3 (again involves transferring 7 of them)
Weedle x 5 (again with a lot of transfers)
Caterpie x 2

So up to 17 from the 11 I had previously. Eggs are at 6.5 and 1.5 respectively. I won't get to play much tomorrow due to work so I reckon I can get them to hatch/mass evolve by Saturday.

I think the distance thing is borked too - I just hatched two eggs & replaced them at the same time, then walked at least 1km, possibly closer to 2, and checked their progress. 300m on one, 500m on the other :cab: Also lame that it can't track me at work as I'm walking my whole shift so I'd probably be able to hatch multiple 10km eggs a day.

Saw a suggestion as well saying that you should be able to raise your starter pokemon with just stardust. Another frustrating day so far.

Headed up to the lake and bagged myself a Wartortle :cool: but then encountered a Shellder minutes later which would have meant 2 new mons in as many minutes, but the bastard ran away. Then I was tracking a Seel but for the 3rd time since I got the game a crash robbed me of the fucker. I then couldn't get in for a good half an hour.

Just now was able to get in and set about transferring pokemon in preperation for my mass evolution spree. The servers held firm as I transferred away what was needed so I set out to walk the 1.8km needed to hatch my eggs with the plan to use the lucky egg at the last moment and then start evolving like crazy. I got them down to 0.5km left when the game crashed, and though I got straight back in it crashed again and now I can't get on. I guess it's lucky I didn't use the egg, but fucking hell, timing that is going to be a bitch.

The plus side was during that walk I caught a 552 CP Pidgeot, my highest mon by a clear 150 points.

I also hatched both eggs and hit 1 Pokestop. I couldn't find anything to catch.

The end result was I went from level 10 (but virtually 11) to Level 13 and close to 14, so I gained just shy of 3 whole levels. Not bad.

Top 6 Mons now are Hypno (581, the Drowzee I evolved), Magmar (575, hatched from my 10km egg), Pidgeot (551, caught today), Vileplume (402, caught a few days back), Pidgeot (383, evolved ages ago) and Gloom (340, evolved today).

It's been much more stable lately, so my enjoyment has definitely increased. I caught a Weezing on the way home from work, which, at 690CP, is my strongest pokemon by 400. Just hit lv12, and still have to do a lucky egg mass evolution. Can't wait to evolve all these shitty pokemon then immediately transfer 95% of them.

Think I only have about four Magikarp, so hopefully I'll just find a Gyarados spawn, since I think that's pretty much my best chance of ever getting one.

I made a spreadsheet to plan my lucky egg use :cool:

Got two eggs about to hatch, plus I can evolve 4 Caterpie, 14 Weedle, 18 Pidgey, 11 Rattatta, 1 Eevee, 1 Zubat, 1 Metapod, 1 Kakuna & 1 Pidgeotto, all of which should net me about 60,000 experience. If I can catch one more Gastly I can evolve one of those as well, which should add another couple of grand. Same applies if I can catch a few more Spearow, but I think I'll probably just end up saving both of those for the next round, along with Drowzee, which I still don't have enough candies to evolve.

I'm just about to reach lv13 anyway, so I should end up on the brink of lv17 if all goes to plan.

EDIT: A Gastly spawned just outside my house, so I will now be getting a Haunter tomorrow as well :drool:

Close the app completely. Turn on Airplane mode. Open the app. You'll get an error saying no internet. Turn off Airplane mode. Go back to the app.
