That says head to head first and goal difference sixth, although clause E seems unbelievably vague. A to D are in reference to group games played between the two sides, and E says if they're still even after that the same criteria should be used in reference to group games played between the two sides.

It working that way explains the PSG/Arsenal thing though, since two draws mean they have the same points from those games, the same goal difference and the same goals scored in total, but tonight's two each means PSG have more goals away from home.

In March 2009, Pardew stated on Match of the Day 2 that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien "absolutely rapes" Manchester City player Ched Evans during a midfield tussle for the ball, in the sense that he bested him physically. The BBC explained why there was no on-air apology, saying: "What Alan Pardew said was misheard, it was thought he used the word 'rakes.'".

On the opening day of the 2012–13 Premier League season against Tottenham Hotspur, Pardew pushed an official after an incident where the ball appeared to go over the touchline, but the referee deemed it to still be in play. Pardew later apologised, citing his behaviour as "ridiculous".

In January 2014, during the Premier League match against Manchester City Pardew verbally abused opposition manager Manuel Pellegrini. On 11 March, the FA handed Pardew a three-game stadium ban with a touchline ban for a further four games. He was also fined £60,000 by the FA, in addition to the £100,000 fine from Newcastle United.

I believe my point was he hadn't won anything of note for 15 years but the media were in love with the guy at World Cup because the bashed Spain and they/your lot desperately wanted Man United to be good again after Moyes. I'm not sure what the point of arguing these things in any depth is. Van Gaal got them back into the top four ("mate") after a terrible season under Moyes, and then won the FA Cup for the first time in over a decade last year.

He was moved on because they got, seemingly, a better manager. Whether he proves to be so is another matter.

Let analyse something else. Seriously too, are Man United unlucky? Burnley perhaps but they will do that to many other clubs this season.

Are you happy with it, Kiko? There's no doubt he has to stay regardless of how this season turns out as if Man United are to get back into shape then they can't keep swapping and changing. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has worked at the club for years under Ferguson etc. Losing the Class of 92 then big players like Vidic, Evra, Ferdinand and co, different managers coming in with completely different personalities (albeit all labelled defensive managers before and after....), I imagine it doesn't even feel like the same work place any more. Costly signings who for large part have added nothing. Depay and even Martial to an extent who you would expect more from given how much he cost.
