View Full Version : Copyright on YouTube

So why, WHY OH FUCKING WHY, is live footage that has already happened copyrighted? What the fucking hell is the point?

I'm trying to watch Lewandowski's goals and I can't. It's truly fucking pathetic. Is YouTube now only for annoying hipster cunt vloggers and You've Been Framed wannabes? Fucking bag of shite. It can fuck off with it's adverts as well.

I've noticed recently a massive reduction in music I can view as well. For example I can only watch/listen half of Rumours now.

Because the right-holders will want to use the videos (even goal highlights) to monetize on them (through ads, most likely, or subscriptions) on their own video platforms.

Don't bother with YouTube for those things, Magic.

Reddit is quite good for goals, if you go on /r/soccer and search Lewandowski by date added, you're sure to find them in HD quality on a site like Streamable.

Famously in cricket there's this mental Australian bloke called Rob Moody who has spent the last 30 years religiously recording every single major match on TV and editing his own highlights packages ('23 great Inzamam-ul-Haq run outs', etc). He has uploaded it all to Youtube and his channels are an absolute treasure trove, but naturally the authorities object to any cricket highlights from any match being available for free (where can I pay to watch a 25 year old ODI anyway?). As such a comical rampage across the internet has ensued, with the BCCI and ECB frantically trying to have this crackpot banned and his videos deleted, but whenever they do he just pops up with another account.

It's what happens when sport is allowed to be run by bean counters.

Yeah that's always been my main objection to things getting taken down - when the company who owns the rights hasn't made any effort to make them available to buy, and has no intention of doing so.

Similar to when the legal, paid method of watching something is actually worse than the dodgy way - WWE pay per views are basically unwatchable on the network for me, but I can get really good, smooth streams off reddit and the like.

Just go to Twitter and search 'playerName Vine'. You'll find one fairly easily.

Even LUFC vines and twitter videos are taken down pretty quickly. I followed WALMOT3 as he used to post them but more and more frequently it says 'unavailable' now. Cunts.

If you'd checked it when I posted and not fucked around talking about your boring house for two hours, it might still have been there.

Here they are in GIF form, Magic: http://imgur.com/gallery/8RQS6

Those are so freakishly high definition that they look weird. Will we ever be able do GIFVs in the video tags here?

I'm legitimately trying. Everyone else can but I can't find the code.

Nice. Didn't mean that to sound like it was expected and I was getting impatient waiting, I had no idea if it was a thing or not.

Anyone noticed a SERIOUS slow down in YouTube performance since they introducted this paywall shit?
