Yeah, I saw that earlier.

Look officer, it's not a bomb, it's a gender reveal device . . .

The death is the latest in a string of catastrophes to be linked to gender-reveal parties in recent years.

They can include prediction games, with the "big reveal" being made with fireworks and coloured smoke grenades.

But several large-scale parties have gone wrong, even resulting in several deaths.

A man from Michigan was killed earlier this month after he was struck by shrapnel from "a small cannon type device" fired during a baby shower, police said.

Two other gender-reveal parties were blamed for sparking wildfires in California in September 2020, and Arizona in April 2017.

Unpopular opinion I imagine, but I think it's wrong to do that to someone who was 15 when they made that decision and when it's very well known how predatory and brain-washing groups like ISIS can be. The majority of that stat were 17.

When they were killed or when they were sentenced?

They were sentenced at that age then executed in their 20s or later.

Pre 1985 it gets worse: in 1959 a 17 year old was executed in the gas chamber. In 1944 they put a 14 year old in the electric chair... afterwards there was significant doubt about the conviction.

We need some sort of democratic hanging system to absolve the state of any errors that it might make. Like Wallis Simpson before her, Meghan will have come over here expecting the fairy princess treatment and been absolutely baffled by the cultural differences and by the lack of media fawning. In America everyone with money is structurally protected against most forms of censure. Here we are much more cynical and the press take no prisoners. She'll have decided she hated it, and then decided to move back to the comfortable world of LA without wrecking her marriage, which means Harry coming with her leaving the firm. She then has nothing to do because she's abandoned her career, and she knows nothing else except just to be in the public eye and drawing attention to herself.

'The press', whilst no angels, are just a convenient scapegoat. She also seems to have become a convenient moral pin up girl for the British left, which is a curious one. Really though it's a fable about the massive differences between the US and Britain which are often missed as the former's monoculture extends its tentacles year by year.

You can want to be famous on your own terms rather than by proxy via being in the Royal Family. I don't think being famous necessarily means they want the media digging into what Megan's dad thinks about her or some other bollocks.

If you don't want to be in the Royal Family then don't marry Prince Harry, or if you must marry Prince Harry, then make him leave it for you.

She wanted to be in the Royal Family but didn't like what it was when she got there and beat a hasty retreat. I'm not sure that is the Royal Family's fault any more or less than it is hers. The two things just aren't compatible.

"The press take no prisoners" is just one of those euphemisms for people/a group being cunts, like when somebody is A Character, doesn't Suffer Fools Gladly or they Just Call It Like They See It.

No, as "The Left" would have you believe she hasn't had a hard time of it from the press just because she's a bit foreign and brown to be in our precious family of philandering pro-nonce inbreds. But it's also not true that they haven't been cunts around the whole thing, and switched between acting like the spiteful wounded party and fawning over wedding dresses and babies. They can't moan about fame when they court it on their own terms, they both know how this shit works better than that and presumably don't need the money at this stage. The tabloids shouldn't be digging like mad into somebody's past then gleefully rolling around in it like a pig in shit and then pretending they don't understand why said person might want them to fuck off.

Also anybody who actually wants to be part of the Royal Family wants their head read.

Short of actually going and living a private life, like when European royals marry nobodies and get normal jobs/quietly enjoy their millions, ironically their best bet for living a half-way normal life was just being working royals. They would have maintained the widespread public goodwill that they enjoyed until they started moaning (something people forget making it about her being barely black), and they could have bullied/gamed the press to a much greater extent than they can now.

A South Australian private school has promised to act on calls for greater cultural awareness training after a video was circulated showing students "lynching" a black baby doll.

The short video, which was posted to social media app Snapchat, shows a group of Trinity College students in uniform laughing as they use hat strings to tie the doll around the neck and hang it from a tree.

The students had been given a black and white baby doll as part of a classroom project, and hung the black doll from a tree in the video.

I was wondering the same. Is it really that bad?
Of course it’s that bad. One of, if not the best trainer of racehorses has been exposed for not actually giving a shit about horses in his yard. This has come a fortnight before the biggest horse racing event of the year (Ascot can suck a dick) and now the majority of owners are removing the horses from his yard and moving them elsewhere - including the highly coveted, unbeaten, odds-on favourite for the Mares Novice Chase, Envoi Allen.

Then on the back of the leaked photo of Gordon Elliott straddling a dead horse and flipping the peace sign, a video of jockey Rob James comes out of him pretending to shag a different dead horse. Yet another person who is expected to put a horses welfare above anything else, yet he’s seen having a laugh over a dead horse. Disgraceful.

There’s also rumours of Elliott using a cattle prod thingy on a horse called Labaik, and shooting another horse and just leaving it out on the field for other horses to see, but I don’t think there’s any evidence of this [yet].

Gonna be a weird Cheltenham festival with most of Elliott’s horses under someone else’s name, no amateur jockeys and no crowd.

Yeah, there'll be some stable hands and vets whose dream it is/was to work with horses, but that's about it. We're talking about a sport that pumps these animals full of poison to make them run faster, run for longer and jump higher, then puts a bullet between their eyes when they get injured doing so. It is not a long hop between not caring about that shit and actually finding it funny.

Indeed, but now that you can gamble on everything under the sun, horse racing's constituency is smaller than ever. Chuck in a load of animal welfare concerns and you've got a bit of a problem, I think.

That said, boxing involves beating people up and aiming for significant head injury on live TV and the public still seem to get stoked for 'big fights', so who knows what these things can weather.

It will be sold as a non-fungible token (NFT) - a unique digital certificate that states who owns a photo, video or other form of online media.

But the post will remain publicly available on Twitter even after it has been auctioned off.

The buyer will receive a certificate, digitally signed and verified by Mr Dorsey, as well as the metadata of the original tweet. The data will include information such as the time the tweet was posted and its text contents.

The world is changing to be ever more moronic. But maybe it's a generational thing. I'm sure our parents thought the same when we were young.

Is there a world in which it wasn't Prince Philip that was worrying about how dark the sprog was going to come out?

Ian

No, it was absolutely him.

Between Prince Philip's spotless reputation and Danny Baker's BBC career, that child has a lot to answer for.

Lewis

I don't believe that particular allegation, because anybody who was truly anxious about the arrival about a quarter-caste child would be much more concerned about how ugly it was liable to be than about its darkness. And sure enough, it is an ugly little thing with a pasty ginger complexion. What people need to be looking into is this wedding claim. She might just be thick enough to have mistaken the dry-run for a wedding ceremony, but if not then their marriage is invalid and the Archbishop of Canterbury has knowingly presided over a farce.

Ian

I can't profess to being an expert on how racists think but "a racist wouldn't be worried about brownness" seems a flimsy defence when there's the much simpler reason, if you choose not to believe the accusation, that they both just think Prince Phillip / the accused is a cunt and decided to make up a lie that almost everybody would go "Yep, that sounds about right."

And it's not as if the royal family have much room to worry about ugliness when half of them look like their parents decided to get the horses in to give them a break from all the incest.

Also in a racists mind I imagine darkness and ugliness overlap quite a bit.

An interesting quirk about royal ugliness is that if you look at any photo of princesses Beatrice and Eugenie together, one of them always looks alright and the other like a mule, but it's not always the same way round.

I actual reason I don't believe it is because it sounds like shite and they won't say who it was, and they also don't seem to understand who does and doesn't get particular titles.

Whether it's true or not, telling everyone about it but not saying who it was is a low move.

Oprah (lol at that) has confirmed that she was told it wasn't the Queen or Prince Philip who said it, so it was either Charles, William, their women, or somebody completely irrelevant who you could easily throw under the bus if you wanted to make a point. They seem to have gone rather overboard in keeping the Queen out of it, which again makes you cynical because she is the one person literally everybody likes, even though presumably not a lot goes on without her knowing about it at the very least. It's a bit like saying Manchester United ran David Beckham out of town.

I did have sympathy for them both at one point, but their approach in the last six months seems completely at odds with the desire for the media to leave them alone, so one has to wonder whether they just couldn't be arsed with the no doubt incredibly tedious stuff you have to do as members of the royal family.

Yeah, for all people want to spin it as everyone having been hostile from the start, everyone supported - or at least understood - their wanting out of it. It was only when it rapidly became clear that actually they just wanted to go and be American celebrities instead that people went decisively off them.

The Privy Purse and Treasurer’s Office enables the Household to operate as a business. This includes vital support functions such as Finance, HR, IT and Telecoms, Internal Audit and Property Services. Many of the team hold professional qualifications in their field, and collaboration is at the heart of all that they do.

They have an IT department too. :D
