https://www.rte.ie/news/2019/0618/1056057-boy-a-forensic-case/

Mr Hoade examined a backpack found in a search of Boy A's home after his arrest, and its contents, described by gardaí as the boy's "murder kit". They included a homemade mask, described as a "zombie" mask. It had holes for the eyes and nose and was jagged at the bottom with red paint simulating blood around the mouth area...

Boy A was also shown various images from his phone, during his interviews. A screen shot of videos included one entitled "15 most gruesome torture methods in history". And the search history of the phone showed there had been a search for abandoned places in Lucan.

Was walking past my nearest tube station earlier and saw some kids chasing another kid into the station. Walked back past a few minutes later and there were police cars, then an ambulance. Now been confirmed there was a stabbing. #London

Bit mad, though. There are quite a lot of lunatics around here, especially at Aldi in Tottenham, but I've been enjoying it more than anything. These kids looked about 15 or younger. Maybe its not as safe around here as I thought.

Many years back now but I'll never forget the first time I travelled to London with a friend, jumped on a bus late at night before a group of blacks got on, kicked shit out of some drunk on the floor and stole whatever he had, phone etc and simply got off at the next stop. I was young at the time and had barely been outside of my tiny home town as far as I recall. Given what you read about London in the papers etc. Scary first impressions.

Then I moved there. Well, near there rather and I found it wasn't so bad if you were street wise.

Other extreme wheel well survival stories
1969 - Armando Socarras Ramirez, 22, managed to withstand the effects of a flight from Havana, Cuba, to Madrid, suffering frostbite but no major damage

1996 - Pardeep Saini, 23, stayed alive during a 10-hour flight from Delhi to London, but his brother Vijay died falling out of the aircraft as it approached Heathrow

2000 - Fidel Maruhi survived the 4,000-mile journey on a Boeing 747 from Tahiti to Los Angeles

2002 - Victor Alvarez Molina, 22, got through the four-hour flight on a DC-10 from Cuba to Montreal, Canada

2014 - Yahya Abdi, 15, stowed away in a Boeing 767 from San Jose, California, to Maui, Hawaii

A water company’s bid to to scare seagulls away from a beach on the south coast in a bid to reduce “bird pollution” has been suspended following a local outcry.

Using hawks, falconers were employed by Southern Water for the task, which has previously been effectively used at airports, in a bid to stop the birds from defecating onto the beach and into the sea.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, in April, after being found lying unconscious beneath a car, naked with facial injuries.

He died after they agreed to switch off the life support, but the real Mr Bennett later showed up at a barbecue.

His family were arranging his funeral when Mr Bennett reappeared, having been away.

That was Scarlett Johansson giving up a trans role because she wasn't trans. I reckon she just couldn't be arsed with all the whoppers so soon after she'd got past the whinging over Ghost in the Shell.

Billy Porter, the lad from Pose was moaning the other week though about how he doesn't even get into the room for any role without 'flamboyant' somewhere in the description, so straight actors need to stop acting gay so he can get more work. They go the other way and state every single possible side effect.

Exactly. Your money, your body. Fuck the doctors.

For a lot of the same reasons as people coming to their doctor and demanding antibiotics for a viral sore throat has disastrous consequences.

Is the anti-depressant resistance apocalypse a thing? Hopefully. Clear out some of the cretins.

Advertising them on TV is just including old people in the self-diagnosed, self-cured generation. It's just that they use the adverts during Ellen, we use Google.

Shame it won't work that way.

One of them will get clinically depressed, go postal and inspire a survivor onto medication that won't do the job. Circle of life. And death.

Not here it won't. Relax.

First of all your argument was that they aren't actually advertising serious medications for serious illnesses - which evidently they are.

Now you've seen you were wrong on that, you've moved the goalposts....

Ya I stopped reading here tbh.

You said "Americans shouldn't take the moral high ground".

I insinuated you're acting like they're out here trying to sell fake cure all treatments to the poor as opposed to just advertising common medications and treatments available.

You then showed a bunch of outlier advertisements, mostly that ironically suggested actual medicines/treatments that were available, again not sure what's too morally bankrupt there.

You then quite literally stated that the said serious medicines needed a fucking doctor's prescription (and therefore doctor's consultation... and therefore would only be prescribed if absolutely necessary...)

You've fucked up your own argument, all I did was lend you the rope.

It's a circle.

All of the adverts you see are patented 'remixes' of already available drugs/treatments with little to no increased potency over what the doctor would traditionally prescribe but they will likely be more expensive than the now out of patent generic.

The adverts all tell you to 'ask your doctor about x brand' because they are not allowed to recommend this course of action unless prompted by the patient.

Prior to you even seeing the advert your doctor may have accepted money from the pharmaceutical company involved in making this or another drug, in turn these doctors who have received more than 5 grand from these corporations are literally 10 to 20% more likely to go with the brand name despite it's increased price and identical results.

As with everything wrong in America, it's money and greed at the expense of the public.

On the thing that started this all, as with a lot of things wrong in the UK. It's well intentioned idiocy, spaffed out by overpaid consultants, governed by useless jobsworths.

This entire post is a perfect advert for what's wrong with advertising drugs to the public. You don't understand what's being advertised or the impact it has at all.

It's very strange to argue with someone who constantly sets out for you what your own argument is, and then tries to tell you why you're wrong, when you never made that argument in the first place.

As someone who takes cymbalta I cant see how advertising that is just business as usual. I took me a good 6 months for all the side effects to wear off.

Edit: IMO it is pretty scary that GPs down here are allowed to hand out drugs like cymbalta without any sory of therapy or referral to a proper clinical psychologist.
