Baz transfered me the money a few weeks ago. None of it has been spent yet, as there's literally no point. We're still quite a bit under the limit of the max database size at our current host, and as soon as we move, the money will start being used up. As long as it's alright with Baz, I propose we stay on the current host until we start approaching the 1Gb mark (the max size) which will probably be around the autumn/winter. At that point we'll move to the host, and I'll setup a public spreadsheet that logs how much we're spending and the current balance of the cash.

We can, of course, spend some of the money for other purposes - I'll let the board decide that.

The sensible answer to all of this is to use the cash to maintain the forums. Without the FM, gaming or footy element, you're not going to rope folks in. This place isn't even the deadest place I frequent. That'd be where I met the guys I review for. 27 members. 11 of which are regulars, though.

Which is why it needs to be a two-pronged approach. We must do advertising to attract people and, combine the effort with some sort of compelling content* to keep people coming back- I really do think we collectively have the capacity to successful execute the later. My issue with the public transportation approach to advertising is that then any random geezer (probably poorer and more autistic) would be the group most likely to be drawn in, at least with the soccer billboards it self selects so that there is an automatic a point of commonality- especially powerful if our content was catered to appeal to that demographic. That being said why not do both as trial runs and see which works better? Or more reasonably, simply choose to do the more financially viable of the two.

I also think we need a solid, funny welcoming video that people can watch when they first come on the website.

* I think all we would need for compelling content would be two regularly updated threads (1. Unilad like, soccer themed, 'viral' videos and memes that everyone could contribute to, committee members would do quality control as to which made the cut and were linked to our FB/Twitter page; 2. Hot girls in a Babe of the Day style, preferably less well known Instagram models) which were deliberately maintained / regulated by an elected committee of some sort. There also needs to be more transparency with finances.
