Rumours say Cousins will be rocking up in Minnesota. With a contract worth at least $27m a season for 3 years.

The Vikings have been his most likely destination for months, so not sure how that's news. That said, I'm desperately hoping he does go there for Dynasty reasons. Fuck everything if he ends up playing for the Jets.

Be a shame for Keenum is he got kicked to the kerb but don't get the feeling he's well loved by the HC.

Apparently Miami are going to release Suh. Woof.

They’ve put Ja’Wuan James on the trade block too, apparently. Word is they’re going for a culture change.

Others on the block are Vinny Curry & Tavon Austin, although they’re both going to get cut anyway so I don’t see them fetching a whole lot.

Oh, and Sean Smith will be spending a year in jail as he’s pleaded guilty to assault.

Dan

Lawrence Timmons, Tamba Hali & Lardarius Webb all gone too.

Browning

Julius Thomas too, forgot he was even a thing.

Supposedly it'll be the Jags or Bears for Robinson, giving me a shot at not having an already out of date jersey. That said there are new rumblings of the Packers being interested, which would be interesting.

Who's Robinson and can he cover a receiver?

Browning
12-03-2018, 06:17 PM
Allen Robinson, the Jags WR (and best WR in free agency).

Would be strange to see him go to the Pack when they already have Nelson, Adams and Cobb so you'd imagine one of those would move on.

In some actual news, Cordy Glenn has been traded to the Bengals.

Sir Andy Mahowry
12-03-2018, 08:41 PM
Two sources close to the situation told Rapoport that at least two NFL teams are prepared to offer Cousins three-year, fully guaranteed contracts if that's what it takes to sign him.

What would stop him from just not bothering at all?

Sir Andy Mahowry
12-03-2018, 08:48 PM
Also, we've given James Hurst a new contract.

He's a mediocre backup and the money would have been better going to Ryan Jensen.

The draft is ages away :D

Bills working their way up the board. Easier to get into shooting range from 12 than 20/21.

Brees to the vikings would be a mind boggle. But then again, brees was at San Diego so he's not a lifer. Would imagine the Katrina NOLA thing would be hard to peel him away from mind. Saints weren't much behind the Vikings last year.

Imagine brees with diggs, thielen and A another though. Might even make treadwell look like less of a bust.

Sir Andy Mahowry
12-03-2018, 09:15 PM
Saints fans will just flood Brees with images of Steve Gleason imposed on Hurricane Katrina affected houses.

He wont go anywhere after that.

Dan
12-03-2018, 09:39 PM
Brees will end up staying. He'd be mad to go somewhere else & try to start again with 2-3 years left in his career. With that said, Minnesota would be about the best possible place for him to try & do it.

Sticking with NFC South contracts, Cameron Brate has just signed a SIX YEAR, FORTY ONE MILLION DOLLAR deal :cab: That seems an awfully long time, and an awfully large contract, to sit behind OJ Howard.

That's mental. I mean he's pretty solid but even if that is incentive heavy it'll still be 5 or 6 mil a year for 2 or 3 years.

Guess they are want to give jameis every chance they can to succeed. Saying that, do the bucs even have a rb if Doug Martin leaves. They drafted that dude last year who was cut and fucked off to sit on the 49ers practice squad instead. Mcnichols.

They'll get someone in free agency or the draft. I kinda like Carlos Hyde to go there, actually.

Sir Andy Mahowry

The other options are all fairly shit.

Demarco Murray might be an option but he's fading.

I've actually begun to take a tentative interest in the sport though since watching the Superb Owl with a fanatical mate and subsequently playing a Madden game for a bit.

At its core it's much simpler than its twelve distinct squads had always lead me to believe.

I knew that from my first exposure to it at about fourteen. I just switched off at the first mention of special teams and the like. And the 'Red Zone' stuff is too American for me by half, but I do enjoy that it's simultaneously very simple and intensely tactical.

I do love that a sport which embraces technology to such a degree that they have cameras embedded in pylons on the TD line still has the 'chain gang.'

It can fuck off. I've been playing a Franchise with the Falcons, and I'm coming to the end of my third season. I traded someone for the first overall pick in the upcoming draft, but they've proceeded to have a storming season so that pick is now the twenty sixth. I didn't bother with those. My mate and I played a bit as a team on a Franchise game on 18 the night of the Owl, so I just learned from him as we went. I inherited his copy of 17 to see if I genuinely liked it or just liked the interplay, but I just picked up and started playing. I might go back and do them at some point to see if there's anything I'm missing from my gameplay, but three seasons in on the third difficulty I'm pissing my way towards the playoffs so I might not.

That stuff is pretty intuitive once you understand the roles. I couldn't name a defensive play, but when I see most of those that pop up in game laid out on the field I can recognise them and how to beat them.

Trey Burton to the Bears, Paul Richardson to the Redskins & Weston Richburg to the 49ers.

The Saints have put an original round (UDFA) tender on Willie Snead, and the Browns have tendered exclusive rights free agent Josh Gordon, which was always going to happen considering it costs $790k.

Meanwhile, Paul Posluszny is retiring.

Dan

I do find it odd that there’s such a massive wankathon over the Allen Robinson deal, especially when people compare it to Sammy Watkins’ contract.

Has everyone forgotten that A-Rob tore his ACL last season & had a rubbish year the season before that?

He could absolutely be a monster, and I would actually still lean towards him being good, but he could also be a cripple. Him, Cameron Meredith coming off his injury & Kevin White might end up being the most lol receiving corps in the league.

Dan

Indeed. Not an awe inspiring move from the Cards, but then they have literally zero QBs on the roster so it's an upgrade on that at least.

I think the speed with which almost every big name has been locked up is the surprising part of free agency this year.

Alvin Kamara will get monstrously overdrafted. I’ve seen people saying he’s the third pick in PPR, which is staggeringly hilarious.

The Browns will be a bunch of guys who all take away from each other, and Tyrod will still be Tyrod.

Graham will stay roughly where he was last season, Fournette will still miss three games with injury, every 49er will get the 2017 Bucs treatment, and Cousins will be no better than he’s ever been.

If people are drafting him that high in standard they're fucking mental.

He’ll be a second round player, and a top 8-12 back. People seem to think Mark Ingram is going to vanish & Kamara’s going to run wild scoring 20pts a game all season, but I don’t see why they’d want to change it up when it worked so well last season.

Nobody’s that productive as a lead back, and who’s to say our line will even be as good next year? He’ll probably get similar numbers, but spread out over a full season.

I’d love to be massively wrong on this one though, obviously.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office accuses Bennett of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic woman who was working to control access to the field during the game. Prosecutors claim Bennett, 32, injured the victim after he pushed his way onto the field after being told to use another entrance for field access.

For the Jets its a QB or Barkley. No chance they move up from 6 and don't take a generational RB or the best QB available.

In all likelihood it's Darnold or Rosen as Teddy's contract can be ripped up in training camp and McCown can be the bridge Mentor. $10m isn't a huge deal for a QB for a year. Particularly given the CBA so they're 'net spend' on QBs would be $15-16m.

He's one of the best punters in the league and he's also the best in terms of athletic ability. He's turned a few potential muffed punts/blocked punts into a first down by running with it.

Dan
30-03-2018, 11:26 PM
He's probably as good at running back as Doug Martin is these days. Giants cut Brad Wing before free agency so maybe he'll end up there, but then again I have no idea who needs a punter so I'll just wait & see.

I was watching NFL network and they think it's a sign that we'll draft Lamar Jackson. Have him learn from Flacco and Griffin who will probably back him up next year too.

I give it three weeks of the regular season before he takes over from Flukeo.

More like the LOLtimore Ravens.

(Seriously though, what on Earth are they doing?)

It's quite a shrewd move for rg3. He's not the starter, but if the starter struggles there's a legit chance he gets a chance. Or he'll be cut in training camp.

Just sent my leave request for Friday the 27th. Hoping it gets approved so I can watch the first round. Sky sports even did day 2 last year too.

Getting literally any job after a year as a free agent is a shrewd move for RG3.

Kessler, kizer and hogan all being unable to get a win in his absence won't have hindered his chances.

We just picked up Richard Rodgers. Good replacement for the outgoing Celek and Burton.

We seem to be just as strong as last season. We've got a harder regular season schedule though, so we'll see how we end up.

NFL player Trevor Davis has been charged with making "criminal threats" after joking about explosives at airport security in Los Angeles.

The Green Bay Packers wide receiver asked a female companion if she "remembered to pack the explosives?" when he was being asked routine security questions, police said.

Genious.

Rg3 contract is 1 year $1m. That's a ridiculous bargain if he's in any way healthy, which he should be after a year of pumping the hottest woman from Estonia.

I'd certainly rather have him than Mallett so it's definitely a step up.

Two weeks until the draft

Where are we hoping our teams strengthen, and are there any particular players you want (realistically, you can’t have Saquon Mahow)?

Only remembered a couple of days ago that the Texans don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick. :moop:

If saquan could fall to the third round, that would be great thanks.

Just take Chubb, Penny, Freeman or Ballage (or probably about five others who could be there & turn out great) instead. DeShaun could probably use an O-Line though.

We need a tight end & an edge rusher most, but we could use bodies on the O-Line, as well as an interior defensive lineman, a linebacker & a nickel corner. A decent developmental QB would be nice too, and probably still another receiver.

I’d take Mike Gesicki (I’ll go full Mel Kiper & add the ‘TE, Penn State’ schtick) in the first if we had to, but I’d be happier if we could trade down into early R2 & still get him, plus another pick.

Jarvis Landry getting a fuck load is a little bit wild.

Reuben Foster has also brought his NFL career to an end most likely too. Proper little twat by the sound of it, surprised anyone drafted him in the first place.

Dan

He's really good at football. That's more than enough to outweigh any number of domestic violence incidents/robberies/other criminal acts.

Kneel for the anthem though...

EDIT: LOL just realised that first bit could apply to Landry too.

Landry isn't even a legitimate outside receiver, he's a slot guy which makes it worse.

I'm like 80% sure I saw Bruce Arians today in Caesars palace. If he had one of those Kangols on I would have been positive.

I looked at him thinking that I knew him but couldn't place the name. He was looking back almost saying please don't recognise me, either that or wondering why a strange guy is staring at him.

Eagles have cut Daryl Worley after he was arrested (and tasered, apparently) in an altercation with police this morning.

Panthers have kicked the shit out of them in that trade, and they only got Torrey Smith.
