Marcus  He's really come along in the second half of the season - these four guys we have now could be a hell of a secondary given they're all first or second year players. Not sure whether we'll be bringing Vaccaro back given how well they're playing, and Chris Banjo & Rafael Bush are decent enough backups, so we could probably do alright letting him go & cutting Coby Fleener to give us some cap room to get some help for the front seven in free agency.

I've seen Jimmy Graham coming back as a possibility from several places, but whether that's something we'd actually do or just a fantasy GM move I'm not sure. We'd definitely have to cut Fleener to do it though, and probably Nick Fairley too, although I'm not sure what the deal is with him & a possible retirement.

Sir Andy Mahowry
15-01-2018, 12:15 AM
And another.

2 lost timeouts for nothing.

Dan
15-01-2018, 12:16 AM
Payton is the dumbest moron in the world sometimes. It's like he doesn't actually look at the footage & just gambles whenever he disagrees with a call.

Just as well we're not in a situation where every timeout could be critical. Oh, wait :moop:

Sir Andy Mahowry
15-01-2018, 12:24 AM
What a stupid play call that was.

Dan
15-01-2018, 12:26 AM
Third down, let's have Willie Snead throw the ball. It's not quite a fake FG, but it's typical Payton bullshit at an important moment.

I don't remember the last time he called some stupid shit in a big moment & it actually worked. AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE HAVING THREE TIMEOUTS WOULD BE HANDY YOU STUPID FUCK

EDIT: Crawley goes the wrong side of that cross.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Saints have a third string QB playing special teams, you what?

Dan

I've heard stuff about him being used as a receiver & him being a trick play guy for us. He's probably more the emergency QB than a true third stringer. I was surprised it wasn't him throwing the ball on that fake instead of Snead, but I guess that would make it a bit obvious given he never plays otherwise.

Also, there's no fucking way he's the QB of the future - he's already 27 :D

Sorry Vikings fans, that win's not better than dedicating your life to a fictional deity according to your QB.

Browning

On balance, the saints didn’t deserve to go through. You can’t turn up at half time and expect to get past a decent team. They pulled the same shit at Wembley but got away with it because it was only the Dolphins.

Dan
15-01-2018, 08:24 AM
Looking back at that play, I’m not sure why we’re bothering to rush 4 when Keenum has to throw inside five seconds no matter what.

Should’ve matched Lattimore & Crawley up with Diggs & Thielen again, dropped one guy in deep zone, put a guy at the 30 on either touch line & then put everyone else in coverage.

Tbf it was the right decision, he's a shit coach. They shouldn't have said anything after the playoff win though.

Made £85 on the second game which is a little worse than the Jags game but pretty good. Had Kamara scored another TD and the Saints won though, I'd have been rolling in money.

Taysum Hill is the BYU guy who broke his knee about three years running no? He got an extension from the NCAA to get an extra year of eligibility if I'm right - might well have even got injured in it too.

Yep, basically made of glass in college and yet seemingly stout enough to act as a special teamer in the NFL.

Also, both Sunday games were fantastic. I'm all about the Vikings to win this thing though. I think it would make a really, really interesting contract scenario in Minnesota as I actually think Zimmer prefers Bradford (and maybe even Teddy) to Keenum.

I've set a reminder on my phone for the ticket release date.

Mason Rudolph (QB, Oklahoma State) is out of the senior bowl with a foot injury, and now we've also lost Rashaan Evans (LB, Alabama), Anthony Miler (WR, Memphis), Maurice Hurst (DT, Michigan) & Anthony Averett (CB, Alabama). Chances are we'll lose a few more too.

So far Tanner Lee has come in for Rudolph, but it'll be interesting to see who else they add. Also, word is Denver have specifically requested to coach Baker Mayfield, so it could end up being a competition between him & Josh Allen for who can impress John Elway the most.

Senior Bowl is next Saturday, but it's probably only on NFL Network. They're doing the Shrine Game practices at the moment, as that's this Saturday, but aside from JT Barrett I've basically not heard of anyone that's there so it'll be interesting to see the game.

ESPN were hyping up Mel Kiper's draft board for months as if he's the God of Drafting & it's come out with Josh Allen going #1 overall :D if that actually happens & they don't sign an actual starter they'll be 0-16 again next season.

With Twickenham it wasn't part of it for the first year (presumably because some people may not want to/be able to get there where as Wembley was easier) but once you bought it it was part of your season ticket for the next year. The holding call was fine. I wasn't watching for the delay of game, so I'll just assume it was bollocks (even though it probably wasn't).
The delay of game was complete bollocks.

So was the last pass interference flag but I'm letting that slide.

As good as Bouye can be, he makes some stupid decisions at times.

He didn't have to do anything on Cooks there.

Jags 2 minute warning defence is a little shaky.

So was the last pass interference but I'm letting that slide.

They were both good calls. They clearly didn't snap it in time, so much so that I'm surprised the refs didn't blow the ball dead before the snap.

Bouye clearly grabbed Cooks.

It's going to fail and he's already ostracised half the defectors who may have considered it for the money,

He'd genuinely be better giving up now unless he thinks there's money in running an NFL feeder league because he's sure as hell not going to be running in competition.

That XFL will be the same as TNA but in another context is presumably beyond his lunatic, senile brain.

How does getting rid of 15 minutes earn you an hour? Do they stop the half-time clock as well?

That's all he mentioned when he was talking about losing an hour.

They'd cut some ad breaks presumably but it's going to be a huge financial failure due to that.

Eliminate challenges maybe (or a huge reduction), shorter play clock, clock continuing to run after an incomplete pass. There would be lots of little changes, I can understand why Vince didn't mention the reduction in ads but the other stuff could have been mentioned.

Sir Andy Mahowry
25-01-2018, 11:07 PM
Wiki says McMahon and NBC each put in $100m and lost $35m each.

I don't see how it can be any sort of success. American football is saturated as hell. The NFL is hugely popular as is the college game but then you've got other smaller leagues.

It will only last a season (3 max if they make a deal with the NFL to become a feeder league) and lose a shit load of money again.

If you get that far down they’re probably not worth taking in this draft. Assuming Lamar Jackson doesn’t plummet, it’s only really Mike White who’s considered to have a chance as a starter outside of the big names. Virginia Tech? No Fullers’ but they have two Edmunds’ who are freaks. Tyrell is a safety, but Tremaine is the one you want - barely 20 at the draft, 6’ 5”, 250lbs, strong enough to take on OL in the middle & fast enough to cover RBs stride for stride on deep wheels & chase stuff from sideline to sideline. Good tackler, decisive (although still a bit patchy on actually getting the decision right) & obviously still has loads of room to get better.

He was the guy I was hoping we’d take, but the hype has started to build in the last few weeks & now people are mocking him as a top 10-15 player.

As for Cousins, it’s probably one of Denver, Cleveland or the Jets. Not sure if Arizona have enough cap space to make a play at him, but they’ll probably be more in the Keemun/Tyrol/Bridgwater market.

Sad to see Smith leave KC

Don't know much about Fuller but we needed help at corner more than any other position on the team, shame we couldn't sheeze more out of the deal but I guess Smiths age, contract status and lack of playoff wins dictated that. At least we cleared some cap room

Now we need a backup QB, DL and LB help, a nailed on WR1 and an OL upgrade at T and G. Apart from that we at all set for another shot at a first round playoff exit again next season 😄
