Did you not see them destroy San Francisco yesterday? How many points have the Saints scored this week?

Case closed.

It's an offence that succeeds in spite, and a defence that succeeds because. Even the most blinkered of fans should see that the o-line is a load of sweaty balls.

Doug Baldwin's a king amongst men at the moment though

At least I'm not the only one who thinks it. I mean, Wilson is a good QB, but I wouldn't put him in that top bracket. They don't exactly have great weapons for him to throw to either. Baldwin is going strong but other than that? Not much.

Oh and hey look there's Coby Fleener.

When you expect to be an absolute hero and end up a backup Guard you're probably better off binning it.

We're a bad defence. I don't know if anybody has noticed yet, but it's true.

I watched live and it was really, really bad. It's more a case of having to cobble a team together from anything you can find, But when Matt Ryan can pick you apart with ease, even toying with the defence sometimes, you're in trouble. All of that was without Julio doing anything.

Just a reminder gents that there's 4 games on tomorrow. The Wembley game (colts jags) is on bbc from about 1.30pm.

Is gus Bradley going to be hit by the London curse? His jags seem to be better than previous years but that counts for nothing if you're 0 and 4 and on en route to a top 5 draft pick for the third consecutive year.

Could be interceptions galore tomorrow.

Browning

The end of Tennessee Georgia sounds absolutely mental.

Check out these last five possessions:

-Tennessee takes down Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason in in his own end zone to take the lead with 2:56 left in the game. 28-24 Tennessee.

-Jacob Eason throws an interception to Malik Foreman with 2:10 left in the game. 28-24 Tennessee.

-Tennessee goes three-and-out…. 1:07 left in the game. 28-24 Tennessee.

-Eason takes Georgia down the field to take the lead back. Four plays, 81 yards, 57 seconds. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Bulldogs places the ball at the 20-yard line for the ensuing kick off. 31-28 Georgia.

-After a short kick, Micah Abernathy returns the ball to the Georgia 40. Hail Mary pass from Joshua Dobbs to Jauan Jennings completed…. 43-yard touchdown pass. Game Tennessee. 34-31 Tennessee.

That first play there doesn't make any sense to me. How did they "take the lead" by 4 points off a safety? Also Tennessee would have then got the ball? I'm guessing college has different rules.

Ian
02-10-2016, 11:52 AM
You can recover a safety in the same way you can a kickoff, maybe they did something like that. And I assume they've just worded the bit about the scores badly.

Gray Fox
02-10-2016, 11:56 AM
Click and watch the highlights. It doesn't say anything about a safety because there wasn't one. Forced fumbled recovered in the end zone, going from 21-24 to leading 28-24.

Foe
02-10-2016, 12:18 PM
Tennessee also were 17-0 down, including losing a fumble as the receiver was prancing towards the end zone (on the one yard line) which the defence recovered in the end zone.

The game before that, Texas v Oklahoma State was pretty good too because it was two pretty good offences versus two absolutely horrible defences. Texas in particular must have had a sweepstake on who could miss the most tackles in the game.

NCAA football is  It's pretty cool seeing obvious superstars in amongst joe bloggs who's going to sell car insurance next year.

Can we take predictions on the QB that throws the most picks this season?

Fitzpatrick & Winston have to be the favourites, but you can never rule out defending champion Blake Bortles. Anyone else people see challenging the big three?

---

For reference, last year Bortles finished with 18. After three weeks Fitzpatrick had 7 while Bortles & Winston were both at 6. That's now 9, 6 & 8 respectively.

29 games since the Broncos have allowed a QB to have a passer rating of 100 or higher. And I think the other stat I posted a couple of weeks ago is now 3 passing touchdowns allowed in 7 games.

I imagine they'll have him on quadruple coverage after his big showing last week. This will be a real test of how good the Atlanta offense is. Coleman wont be as much use due to his disease, but I'm interested to see how they fare against the best.

Ian
06-10-2016, 10:14 PM
This week will be a test of resolve. Obviously you don't build up these daft streaks by panicking and shitting the bed over a form offense so I don't really see that much being changed. Harris will probably follow Jones and you'd think they'll probably plan for a touch extra safety cover but ultimately the success of the defence is the balance of having genuine man-capable defensive backs who both allow the pass rush to do it's thing and are at the same time supported by the pass rush being so monstrous.

The defense looks as good as it did last year (albeit the record of the teams they've faced is collectively sub-par so far) even without Malik Jackson. Derek Wolfe has really stepped up his game and Shane Ray has been good as well. He's had a lot of mentoring from DeMarcus Ware. I read an interview with Ware saying that at first he thought Ray wasn't paying attention or taking stuff in because he wasn't taking notes or anything but then everything he'd suggested that Ray do got done during the game and they just seem to have a very good relationship.

Ware.

Ian
08-10-2016, 10:20 PM
They thought Siemian was in with a decent chance of making it for tomorrow but I guess he hasn't recovered quite as quickly as they hoped. Partly they know the defence should help look after Lynch tp an extent, partly they can - based on the first few games - trust the offensive line more than expected and partly just that Lynch did a pretty good job in the half a game he played last week.

All the talk has been that it's still Siemian's job to lose but you'd think he'll be worrying if Denver wins with Lynch throwing 250+ plus a touchdown or two and/or plays mistake-free.

Fair play to Atlanta for going for it on 4th and nowt. I wondered whether they'd just take what they could get at that stage. They're probably hopeful of keeping this offense relatively quiet, with the running game struggling and Lynch in his first full start.

Denver's offense in the first half last night was rancid. Not great in the second half either, mind, but at least the running game got going a bit. I know why they're doing it but I'm not a fan of these massive drop backs they've had Siemian and Lynch doing. It's not even setting up the deep ball much so I'd rather they aimed to get the plays moving along a bit more quickly and trust Sanders and Thomas to get open early doors.

Things are getting interesting in Nevada. The state has essentially voted to give the green light on giving $750m of public money towards building an NFL stadium complex in Las Vegas.

This would be building a 65,000 seater dome stadium and convention centre. The idea behind all of this is that they want to try and get the Raiders there. The justification for all of that money is that due to the amount of tourism Vegas already gets, the new build should see more money coming in that other state funded stadiums around the place.

You've got to think the Raiders are willing to go, otherwise plans would not have become this advanced.

This also affects the Chargers greatly. Oakland currently have 1st option on moving in with the Rams in 2020 and have the rest of this season to decide, but with the Raiders looking like going to Vegas and the Chargers own plans for state funding seemingly falling through, it would almost become a done deal for the Chargers to move to L.A.
