Not feeling the Brighton love, but fingers crossed.

As far as the Prem is concerned, Liverpool's season is probably going to be done by the end of August. So interest levels are low, even though it should probably be the most interesting season since forever.

People are getting far too excited about Hairtonio Transplante. That prediction octopus could have won three Serie A titles, and all the wanking over the recent Euros reminds me of when 'LvG' won the World Cup for United.

He's been putting in some top media work already. After that amateur side cuffed them his line was 'you let the local side have their day.'

That's very ignorant, look at the state of the club when Conte took over. Winning the title after two 7th places and with a chaotic squad was an incredible achievement. Everyone else gave up the seasons after that, but a large percentage of the merit for that first title goes to Conte.

I reckon even if he's as good as people think, we still won't be in the title race. The defence remains a walking joke, unless 'JT' has another Indian summer. That said, no Europe etc. What will the official twitter account post about in midweek now?

My main other interest in this season is who I want to fail more out of 'Pep' and Klopp. The latter failing would be funny, but the former failing would break people. I'm also selling all my shares in Pochettino at the moment.

It had been a chaotic squad, but in 2011 they began clearing a lot of the Alessio Secco shit out (Felipe Melo et al), had the current defence signed, and, by the time Conte was in place, had brought in Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, that Montenegro lad from Roma, Stephan Lichtsteiner, and Alessandro Matri (so fifty-ish million quid on directly weakening rivals). Who had a better side that year? Had 'Zlatan' not had the season of his life Milan would have been nowhere.

Anyone going BALLS DEEP in Smallpockets was a mug. 'Young Side' or not, it had an overwhelming stench of Roberto Martinez's first year at Everton, and they are more likely to be battling Everton for seventh than challenging for the title this season.

I want to see Klopp do well but I don't see how he has them finishing higher than 5th or 6th. there are too many monied clubs with good coaches this time around.

Thoughts on other competitions / anything else: I honestly just don't think Zlatan will have the impact some imagine he will. I think the United side has been begging for pace and creativity for years and Mkhi will bring that in spades. I don't think we'll put a lot of effort into the Europa League at all and focus on the League + FA Cup. I'd love to see both Europa and League Cup fixtures used to brood the younger players along with meaningful game time.

By all means, that summer's transfer market was incredible by Marotta. I think that does not diminish Conte's achievement that season though. Yes, in the end you can say we had the best side but that's only on hindsight. You mention the current defence, they were a complete shambles prior to Conte joining. Barzagli was old and kind of meh, Bonucci was a complete bomb-scare any time he was on the ball. In midfield, Pirlo was meant to be finished. Clearly these players clicked with, and quite possibly because of, Conte's leadership.

Now he's got some pretty big flaws, and he's obviously not always going to be behaving like at the Euros, but I think Chelsea fans really should be excited with him managing them.
