View Full Version : I have a dilemma

Some of you may recall my idiot 18 year old cousin that I've moaned about on here before. He got engaged at the New Year which I also moaned/lolled at. I just saw his 'fiancée' on Tinder. Maybe it's just a joke account for taking the piss out of people and that. Maybe these young whippersnappers use Tinder for more than just trying to shag people. Maybe he knows about it and is okay with it (because it's a joke account? Because it's an open relationship? Because they're looking for someone to join them? Ugh, I don't know).

If it's not just a for shits and giggles, she's gonna break the poor little bugger's heart.

What should I do? Tell him? Stay out of it?

If I stay out of it, he probably invests more and more of his life in her and then it possibly goes to shit further down the line when he's in even deeper. If I tell him, I'm the bearer of bad news and he'll be crushed but at least he won't have got in too deep and it'll be better for him in the long run. He's already not going to uni this year because he's waiting on her to finish her course at the local college. Although whether or not he'd actually get the grades is another matter.

UGH.

Instigate her to see how far she's willing to go.

This thread will, of course, serve as evidence of your innocence.

My friend knows a couple who have been spotted on a wife-swapping site. Obviously if somebody told you that you would wonder how they found them, but you would soon gloss over that to lol at them. Not these idiots though (returning to the theory about the other people your friends know being crap). People are merely talking about it behind their backs.

Not necessarily.

Nah. Screenshotted all of her profile in case I do decide to show him though.

Yes. And he's very much correct.

A friend of mine told me his mate (who I sort of know) and fiance were around his and his wife's house and they started talking about "Who would have sex with who" and it all got a bit weird. They tried to move the conversation on a few times but they both kept coming back to it.

He reckons they're full on swingers.

If you tell him now she will easily excuse herself as not really doing anything wrong and he'll buy it because he is an idiot. You need to instigate and then hit him with the irrefutable evidence on she being up to no good.

Maybe she simply haven't removed her Tinder profile since she set it up years ago? Does it have to be active to be in the search pool?

See, that is the kind of easy out she'll have if you just go for it at this stage.

Yeah, so use that as the concerned in.

'I think somebody has a made a Tinder profile for your wee lady friend, so they have'.

And then you just look concerned rather than lololol 'cunt struck'.

Boydy
27-04-2016, 11:44 PM
I don't do that 'so <repeat what was just said>' thing at the end of sentences.

Although I'm spending too much time around people that do do it now, I'm worried it might be creeping back in.

Regional accents/verbal tics are great. I wish I'd not trained myself out of speaking Lestoh Citeh when I was younger and gave too much of a shit what people might think of me.

Anyway. Tell him. If he doesn't listen he doesn't listen but at least you've done your bit and kept your own conscience clear.

It doesn't necessarily mean she's going behind his back, I think plenty of people just use Tinder for their own amusement without any intent behind it. It wouldn't surprise me if you told him and he replied that they both have it for the bantz. I guess it depends on how much effort she looked to have put it. But either way you should tell him.

Tinder profiles remain active until you don't log-in for 3 months. At which point it sends you a message saying you're being hidden.

Send the pic.

If it's a first cousin I'd feel obliged to mention. But don't bring it up in a gotcha fashion.

"Wanna see something funny?"
"Sure?"
"Think someone set up a profile with your missus pics to catfish people on tinder lololololol"
*Show screenshot*
"Whaaaaaaaaaat?"

Then let the chips fall where they may. That way, poor you, you didn't even THINK that it could POSSIBLY have gone pear-shaped. You just assumed their 18-year-old love was true! Now you're the one upset because you thought wow, finally, true love is back in season. If (cousin) can't even find love at his tender age, how will you ever?!

Or ya know, fit it to your own life. But you get the drift.

bruhnaldo
28-04-2016, 01:32 PM
Ooooh or even better, do it when they're both together.

You: "Lol guys... I think someone is trying to catfish people using your profile. Lolz lolz lolz, bantz bantz bantz!"
Girl: "*poker face*"
Guy: "*bad poker face*"
You: "Uhh.... maybe ... not... then?"

Though that might backfire into a "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING YOU DONT TRUST ME?!!?!?!" episode from the emotional woman and just make their fake love stronger.

BUT at least you'd know you'd have done your part and got to sit back as a spectator and *popcorn.gif* it up at least.

Magic

This is incredible. Absolute fail at the exams (obv) and finding out his fiance is getting rammed by black men on Tinder. That's suicide inducing.

Boydy - do you know the woman involved? If so you should confront her about it first. That way if she admits it's her account, she can do the job of actually breaking his heart.

John Arne
29-04-2016, 12:17 PM
In all seriousness, of course you have to tell him.

A quick text along the lines of "hey - just thought I'd let you know that I just saw x has a profile on Tinder".

Simples.

There's a couple who I see every day at the station who can't be older than 18 - perhaps younger, even - and every day even at 7.30am they are not many steps from full sex on the platform, just all over each other, smiling, touching noses, grabbing handfuls of flesh each.

Love is great, but surely as a couple they'll just have burned out before they're 20.

bruhnaldo
29-04-2016, 02:31 PM
Young love is simultaneously the worst and best.

So full of hope and promise, but the rest of us know how it'll generally end.

All you can do is sigh for the poor love birds. They have no idea what's coming.

Hux
29-04-2016, 02:31 PM
But seriously, I've known plenty of couples who have Tinder on the side, to alleviate boredom. He very well may know about it/have his own. After his A-levels, I'd confront him and be straight up. If you're going to play messenger, just do it. Get it off your conscience without running games on the couple, clearly deeply in love.

29-04-2016, 02:37 PM
Just tell him now. If you wait til after the a levels you're never going to get round to doing it (most likely outcome since you're posting on here for advice) or if you do she'll have an easy excuse along the lines of 'that was ages ago Boydy must have the dates wrong'.
