Fantasy NFL 2016 Sign Up Thread

It's nearly that time again. Just under 2 months until NFL action starts again on the 7th of August, with pre-season proper starting just after on the 11th August.

I've created a TTH league on the official NFL site. I can get the details up or leave it to PM people who want in.

This thread should be used for sign ups, draft talk, rules/format discussions etc.
Obvious thing for debate would be the draft. I've penciled it in for the 1st of August as it asks for a date anyway, but I'd be happy to do an offline draft provided we get the necessary people and time to do it.

Right now I have standard scoring with a roster set of 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D/ST with a flex of 1 RB/WR/TE.

Any input or suggestions are welcome.

I mean I prefer to stay on Yahoo because the league is already set up and it'll be easier for me to check it with all my other leagues, but I'm open to trying something new. I'll just go with the majority.

I'll give it a go this year. Not done one before but I feel like I now know enough about players etc. to just be pretty bad, rather than hilariously inept, so it seems like the ideal time to join.

Having 8 players would be ideal though.

Yeah 8 is what I've set it up for. Obviously it can be upped or lowered if needed. But we've got 6 straight away. With a bit of luck a few more will sign up.

Best approach is get to 8 and then only allow more to join in pairs. Fuck having bye weeks and random stuff messing up the schedules. Any less than 8 is a no go.

I had 9 in my league last year and there were no bye weeks. Just not all teams played twice.

That isn't possible. You'd have 4 match ups.... what does the 9th team do?

As for example team #9, you'd play teams #1 through #8 and then go back to #1 again.

Unless it's a WWE cross-over and has triple-threat matches.

It wasn't bad, just a little inconsistent. Not many people actually beat the average. Out of 14 attempts only 5 did it. I was lucky I had my 2nd best week against it.

A triple threat would have been awesome

Apparently I was in, and won, an NFL fantasy league in 2011.

No recollection of it at all.

I once signed up for one but then never touched it. Didn't even show for the draft. Ended up getting Rodgers in his Superbowl year along with the RB1 for the season. I only found out a couple years later that I reached the championship game, losing by only a few points with injured players in my team.
The rest of the league was not happy!

Realistically we've anywhere in August and up to the 7th of September. I don't really want to leave it until very last minute just incase we have to delay. So I'm thinking somewhere in the last 2 weeks of August? I'd also be up for putting on a mock draft(or more) using the site, so people are used to it come the real one, if it's wanted.

We also have 5 people signed up to the league with I think @Browning still to join. If we can get one more, Baz is in too, so if anyone knows anyone on here who may join then tag away.

Yea I've not signed up yet but I will. Happy to draft whenever really. Obviously not during "working hours" but mine are fairly standard so I can make whenever most people can.

Weekends are fine as long as it's not stupidly late on a Sunday night. Not that I imagine it would be.

I work a lot of Saturdays - usually 3 out of every 4 - but would be free in the evenings anyway.

Can always try to work a day off around it though if there's a certain date that's good for everyone else.

I've got weekends as the only realistic times we can all get on it. Leaving the week allows us a chance to delay in case someone can't make it. I realize there's still a pre-season game to be played on the 1st, but if we cant get a weekday going then it only leaves us the 3rd September as a possible draft date.
I can always move it there if that's what people want.

Also if Mert joins then we have our 8 teams.

I'm at my mates wedding on Saturday 27th August but, providing the draft works on my phone, I'll still take part.

I've also edited my preferential draftee list, just in case.

Having not done fantasy NFL for 10 years I'm not sure what a good order is, in regards to which positions to try and fill first/last. Is there a general consensus on the most/least important position, or is it really all down to individual preference? Does every position earn similar points, or is, say, the QB the biggest point-earner and therefore should be your priority to fill first? I understand if you'd rather not answer, because I'll beat you.

Also, how do you lot decide the order of the draft? And is it the same every round, or "snaked," where the person who picks last one round picks first the next? Hope that makes sense.

I've just Googled for tips and the majority seem to suggest the best order to fill positions is 1 RB, 2 WR, 3 RB or WR, 4 RB or WR, 6 TE, 7 QB, 8 K, 9 DEF. Hmm. What does everyone here think of that as a general guideline? Do RBs and WRs grab the most points?

May need to rethink my pre-draft rankings, because a) I've prioritised QB/DEF and b) I've only picked 12 people.

Serious question: if I'm present at the LIVE DRAFT, will I still have access to my pre-draft rankings? Or should I export them/write them down somewhere? Only because I'll be drunk during the draft so might forget that Jason Witten exists.

You will still have access to them, assuming it works like Yahoo.

And yea, you definitely don't want to prioritise Defense. Some people don't even bother drafting one. I wouldn't advocate that, but you certainly won't be grabbing one until you've filled your other starting positions.

I'm in a different fleaflicker league this season so I'm autodrafting that and the points system seems to be a lot better than the last league.

I'm not sure how I'm going to approach our draft, I may take a TE/WR in the first round
