Watched A Man for All Seasons last night, about Thomas More. Pretty good. Old films usually are because you only watch the best of them, unlike with new releases.
Hacksaw Ridge is what you expect from Mel Gibson. Really well done, but when you think about it, entirely hypocritical, with gratuitous gorey violence throughout and another paean to blind faith. If you're going to approach that subject, better doing it the way Scorsese does.

I, like Magic, watched John Wick the other day after seeing a clip of the sequel. It doers make you wonder why they feel the need to make 7 Taken films when you can create such a good movie based off 'You shot my dog'

But wait, after pretending that La La Land won the award for best picture, Warren Beatty brought the cast on stage and after they all gave their speeches, it was discovered that MOONLIGHT HAD ACTUALLY WON. Warren misread the envelope or something. Crazy scenes.
This has to be the strangest moment in Oscars history and you have to feel bad for the La La Land team who looked understandably crestfallen. But hey, Moonlight won and this is a fantastic and surprising end to the night.

It sounds like someone handed Beatty the enveloped for the previous award (Emma Stone - La La Land) and he read that out.... that what he is claiming.

Yeah, just seen the full clip. Apparently every award has two envelopes - and for some reason he had the previous award one, and then Dunaway read from that wrong one.
What a clusterfuck.

The title is on the front of the envelope. Warren Beatty very obviously knew something was up, but he for some reason didn't think to check the envelope.

The biggest scandal of last night is that Suicide Squad will go down as an Oscar winner. Fucking Suicide Squad.
I'm delighted Mahershala Ali won, but given just how small and low key that role was I can't help but feel he won at least in part as a massive 'fuck you' to Donald Trump.
