Because they're so good at transfers, fuck me.

Literally the one good thing to come out of this season on the institutional level was that by the end, Pochettino had managed to make a coherent football team out of the absolute mess that they presented him with in September.

So is this the continuation of them trying to run it like a baseball team?

Wouldn't getting McKenna, and presumably his 'staff', just be rehashing the events of appointing Potter?

I also think that him walking out on Ipswich, even if it's for a plum once in a lifetime/retirement job, shows the kind of vaulting ambition I'm deeply sceptical of and think should be avoided at all costs.

Poch has finally got Chelsea looking like a proper side, it would be insanity to fire him now.

Yeah Pochettino made a lot of mistakes last season but they finally looked a bit better towards the end of the season and if they can add the right 2 or 3 players in the summer they have something to build on. Cue them spending £300 million on a load of 18 year olds again.

It would but that's what they want to have, they only fired Potter because they got bullied into it. They want the executives to make all the decisions and a 'weak' coach charged with putting cones out and putting red and blue dots on whiteboards. This is of course a terrible model for football but if you give people money and convince them they are clever, they will run things like this.

Signings for the first team were quality last summer.

The extras on young players for the future not so much. Already signing a 17 year old Brazilian for £30m plus the same in add ons

Seems like buying anyone from Palmeiras is worth a gamble.

Endrick, Estevao, Guilherme all there at the moment and all look shit hot.

If FM turns out to be correct, then yeah maybe.

I have high hopes of Kendry Paez and he only cost pennies. Already a regular for Ecuador at 16/17 ffs

So Endrick is off to Madrid, Estevao is Chelsea bound. Has anyone picked up the third lad yet? I'll just pencil in Barcelona if not.

Someone fill me in on Ben White not being available for England? I've probably been told before but it can't be the Vardy thing where he was low enough down the order not to bother.

Apparently he fell out with the assistant, Steve Holland, when he was last in the squad.

Holland said that White wasn't interested in football or something and they had a bust up. Ben White has made himself UNAVAILABLE since then.

Yes Steve Holland chewed White out in front of the squad saying he doesn't like football and he'll never be good enough because of it etc so White said see ya.

That seems fair. I wouldn't want a month of someone questioning my ability to do the job. It's not like Ben White's sulking it at club level.

    Mental.

Was just saying to the Brighton ST chap I go with this afternoon that maybe they were holding out to get him.

If you believe the reports someone has already paid for De Zerbi. I’m hoping the secrecy is because Man Utd still have a game to play and he’s joining them.

Give it Klopp ‘til end of season

That's the kid who played at 15 to break a record and never got near the team again.

It almost escaped my mind that the Europa League final is today. It just feels so weird that it takes place before the Conference League one, and before the season in two of the big leagues (Italy and Spain) is over.

The Leicester manager is fraud of fraud hall.

Absolutely no idea why we didn't keep Pochettino if those are the options. Maybe they just absolutely refuse to give the coach any decision-making ability over the squad.

Maresca hasn’t shown any indication of being an empty tracksuit/yes-man in his season with us.

Unless Chelsea brains trust feel that because he has been so overly promoted he won’t question club decisions?

Absolutely mental, I get it if you are sacking him and bringing in Tuchel or Klopp has had a change of heart and wants to manage another team in England. But, none of those are going to be an upgrade on Pochettino.

McKenna could well be an excellent manager but he would get lolled out of the building just like Potter.
