I think the point was that it was even worse for you than you think and I'm sure the doctors who examined him before hand and predicted what'd happen with this diet (or some of them at least) were surprised at just how unwell it was making him. So that, I guess. But mostly probably just about making money.
What he failed to tell the audience is that he was a massive alcoholic which may have caused some of the issue.
It all felt a bit Dave Gorman to me. I would say low-rent Gorman but that's Danny Wallace.
