Sebastian Vettel on Question Time was not the type of crossover I ever expected but unsurprisingly he was pretty excellent.

Why are the stands completely empty at this Indycar race? They don’t they’ve covid shit there now do they surely? Or is it just absolutely nothing there any more?

I just don't think they give much of a shit, especially with the rain. The 500 is in a couple of weeks so they'll probably all go to that instead.

It's actually quite entertaining at the moment with the inters to slicks crossover being 5 laps in. Herta just drifted round T7 which was pretty cool.

America is full of giant speedways that nobody ever fills anymore, it doesn't help that the Indy 500 is only a week or two away at the exact same facility.

An expensive Lotus pile-up at Anthony Noghes. You hate to see it. Here comes to red flag.

Sharl gets a go in Jacky Ickx's Ferrari. Smashed the back off it. I've never seen this many crashes at a historic weekend.

Was it Jean Alesi who ran someone into the wall last year?
-

Aye and I think it brought the red flag out which cancelled out the winning overtake. That's all I remember from last year. Certainly nothing like the Rascasse smashes we seem to be getting at every race. Almost as if sheets of kitchen roll aren't enough to soak up oil.

Aston Martin are bringing a whole new B-spec car to Spain. Potentially interesting but will probably result in half a tenth.

Everyone seems to be seething that Aston Martin’s B car looks exactly like the Red Bull. I don’t see the issue, they’re just ahead of the curve. Give it two or three years when a particular concept establishes itself as superior in these regulations and we will have 20 identical cars. Helmut Marko talking shit as usual saying they’ve stolen IP; anyone can study some pictures mate.
Lol though. Aston poached loads of RB designers a few months ago.

Them all 'drinking' some shitty green version of Red Bull yesterday was some peak F1 pettiness.

I like the way they go about it, to be honest. Photograph the hell out of the competition, poach the talent and then get right to it. Beats breaking in and stealing blueprints. Or having someone's wife photocopy them.

The problem with that is that these designs would have been well in progress before anyone had seen the real Red Bull, which means it's either just convergent design (normal for any sport with a formula) or transfer of staff/knowledge. Given recent Red Bull history it's rather rich of them to criticize the latter, doubly so when you consider that most of their success came from Adrian Newey remembering the rest of his career after he joined them.

That Mercedes looks visibly lower to the ground now. If they have gained 3/4 tenths off that alone, they're likely now into the territory of 'could win with good strategy.'
Does look like the Ferraris upgrade seems to have given them a tenth or two as well in qualy. However long runs from Friday seem to suggest the non-red cards behind Chaaaarl will reel him in once in race trim.

Can’t see these softs lasting two minutes. Should be an interesting pit window early on even if there’s a lack of on track action.

Lewis either really right or really wrong with that.
If it's hot enough there, those softs will melt.
