If someone hasn't mentioned it to yet you clicker training and crate training go hand in hand with labs.
Just the best dogs.
Having a dog is so awesome, coming home to them so happy to see you every day is great. Hope all goes well Lofty.
Dogs
Yeah they are class. We have a crate just need to get a clicker, somehow my wife has managed to aquire three leads already as if they arent expensive enough without frivolous spending
The girl went to get him a new lead the other day and couldn't decide between two, couldn't get hold of me on the phone, so bought both. Mental.
Positive reinforcement all the way, which clicker training falls under.
@dogminded, @silentcanineconversations, @thelivesofwilddogs and @themisbehavingmutt are all good Instagram accounts to follow.
If you comes across any advice that promotes being dominant, the pack mentality or choke collars, ignore it completely. Dogs are not pack animals, and all of that is based off of a study's conclusions that the authors themselves discredited years later in further studies.
Just be nice to your dog and reward them for doing things you want them to do like obeying the command "come."
Pro tip: get a treat pouch for walks.
Oh hello. What a dog.
The rescue dog was a bit of a knob to me today. Got me sussed etc.
Board the dog, pick it up the morning the relatives return, pretend you had her all along.
It looks quite big, but I doubt he could ride it.
That is a handsome animal, Panda.
Her name is Maisie, and she takes 40mg of prozac every morning and 900mg of clonidine and 600mg of gabapentin throughout the day because she won the genetic lottery for anxiety. Before the pills, she hyperventilated 24/7 and going outside the confines of the apartment was an absolute nightmare for her.
Pro tip: alarm dogs, ie dog bred to alert people of any and all intruders, are more prone to anxiety than other breeds
She even has a 'fort' made of blankets around her favourite spot to lie down, and she also hates crates.

Cats don't get anxious.
I'm a twit
How did you acquire this pathetic dog?
What a shit dog.
A dog on prescription anxiety meds is properly end of days stuff.
Cunts.
You're a good person taking her on Panda; not easy at all and giving a dog with those kinds of issues a safe and happy home is a really great thing. I hope you get a lot of happiness and fulfilment from having her.
Dog was just born that way; she's not even a rescue. By coincidence we've met two other people who got dogs from the same parents (one from the same litter, one from two years prior), and we discovered that their dogs are also crazy. No hip problems though.
@randomlegend I appreciate the words. Thank you. My wife and I had a hell of a time with the dog for a couple years (why wasn't she like other dogs?! the others weren't like this) before learning about dog anxiety/reactivity from a trainer, and all three of us are much happier for discovering you can give anti-anxiety medications to dogs.
She's the best.
I'm much happier with how things have turned out compared to being some cunt who bins a dog in a shelter or gives it a shit life because they can't handle the dog and refuse to learn how to meet the dog's needs.
Please post a picture of you holding pup for avatar purposes. Xox
The in laws (where I've been over Christmas) have a red labrador and had two black labradors, however one had to be put down today.
They're working dogs and generally very well trained, but the red one has taken a lot of work.
@Lofty why haven't you posted a picture of you holding your dog yet
Its psychiatrist got an injunction.
The only picture I have flatters neither of us.
Perfect. Post it.
Me shattered after the 1am get ups and her seeing a main road for the first time.
Dead behind the eyes both of you.
Regret on both faces.
Looks photoshopped.

He’ll be home with us in the next few weeks.

Baz is going to slag your house off and say it stinks now.
My little knobhead ate a biscuit with raisins in while we were out on Easter Sunday. £400 visit to the vet.
I’ll febreze when he visits.
Before as well as after now.
Can dogs not eat raisins? Not heard of that one before.
They can't look up, I know that much.
What if they ate raisins whilst attempting to look up?
I honestly think anyone not picking up after their dog should be excuted on the spot by roving kill drones, they could also do people not returning shopping trolleys and it would be a net gain for society.
Add in people who litter.
