I find myself looking over the various graphs the FT put out over my morning tea most days. Brazil, India, and Mexico (sorry Pepe) with an outside punt on Russia are all potential 'winners' judging by their trajectories.

Russia winning it with their official numbers would be something special.
The Russian figures are probably accurate and they're all just shrugging it off.
We're back.
Spikey's in that mess somewhere.
"Guy in grey shorts sucker punched 3 people and came out puffing his chest like a tough guy "
He's right as well, look at the fucking nick of him.

Coronavirus: Monkeys 'escape with COVID-19 samples' after attacking lab assistant
I for one welcome our new monkey overlords.
@niko_cee how do you feeling about Guernsey's approach? The Jersey and Guernsey Facebook mandem are acting like you've played everything perfectly, but I can't help but think it's a bit of a short-sighted approach.

We listen to scientific advice, don't we? We follow it, right?
I hope I am overly dramatic but it all feels so wrong to me and I can't it as all I can see coming up is more deaths of huge numbers, not little clusters appearing here and there but taking us right back to the start only with even less support because we've switched it all off. I reckon the UK will have over 100,000 deaths itself before the end of the year of Covid and that's being extremely generous. I see the images of the Spanish and Italian hospitals appearing in British hospitals across the nation which didn't really materialise on this occasion but mostly because we sent so many vulnerable and elderly to their grave by throwing them back into care homes without tests blah blah.
I really do feel like doomsday scenario is upon us but people still aren't taking it seriously? I am so uncomfortable about it all that I am pained by it. Mentally it's like I am playing the future in my mind and it's too real not to be true. I hope it's not and I'm just a bit paranoid maybe but I don't think I am, I think we're going to make the first round of Covid resemble a common cold compared to what's about to follow.
Coming from the man recently hospitalised with anxiety.
I get the feeling we still don't have a clue where we're at. We're not rolling out the antibody tests in great numbers, still only testing those with symptoms and, whilst infections are generally down, you can never test enough. Iceland gets a lot of praise and their new cases are an absolute trickle. However, they've only had 1805 infections which is 0.5% of Iceland's population. Herd immunity is a marathon of bollocks.
It's not some world-ending shit but this disease is going to linger for years.
It was more a perspective check. Stay grounded.
As I mentioned before, the pubs are open here but the safety precautions are so thoroughly depressing that I'd rather not go. Imagine a table of 4 with a 10 foot tall piece of plywood either side. Closing in your perspective like you're a horse in the Grand National. And if you see another group of friends who are already a group of 4 you cannot talk to them unless sitting at a seperate table and shouting to them. Think I'll just stick to cans in the park for summertime.
Luckily clubbing was already off the menu even before I saw this:
The pubs here are going to be horrendous when they open again. Must order food, table service only, traffic light system for jacks, no leaving your table only togo to the jacks, and two hour maximum stay.
Im weeping at that vid
Well supermarket etiquette has largely gone out the window today, that was nice while it lasted.
The Cummings effect.
It's been slowly going out of the window for a couple of weeks here. When I went yesterday those being careful were massively in the minority.
Click & Collect.
I'm only in the place for a few minutes anyway but things were still sensible in my local tesco.
The Brighton and Dorset photos
For all the seething on twitter, I'm afraid it's inevitable: 3/4 of these people would normally be in pubs/restaurants/beer gardens/out playing sport/elsewhere with friends. Because all of these things are shut and banned, what do you expect them to do? Parks and beaches are literally the only leisure activity available for most.
The ones interviewed on the beach who say people shouldn't be at the beach should be shot.
To any of the more politically minded amongst us. Does this have any significance in any way? I've never really understood polls.
4 years out from an election, it doesn't mean anything as such but it should give Boris some pause for thought I suppose.
Not that I'm asking for it as an election is far from what we need but is there any mechanism's that would force them out before then?
If the PM was unable to command a majority in Parliament would normally be the only time when the party would be 'forced out' and an election called, but with an 80 majority it would be more or less impossible for that to happen. More conceivable would be Boris being forced out internally at some point and replaced by another Tory PM.
Nope. Right here and now, it's about the pandemic.
Yeah I sensed it would be something akin to a reshuffle. Cheers Jimmy.
@Shindig, definitely agree. I was just curious because I don't understand what it even means. None of the parties are electable for me.
My opposite neighbours have been taking the piss throughout the pandemic with having family over and that, but tonight I can't have the balcony doors open because there is so much weed smoke drifting up from the full on party they are having (with music etc).
They also love talking loudly and explicitly about sex acts (particularly those fucking tedious anecdotes men tell about long forgotten conquests) between around 6-8pm even though they know that a 3 year old child lives next door and frequents the adjoining garden.
I shall plot my long term revenge.
I don't think the 3 year old is going to be damaged by hearing about shagging Stacey from down the road.
If I had neighbours like that I would happily watch them die from Covid_19.
I wouldn't talk loudly about fingering etc if there was a 3 year old child nearby. But then I wouldn't talk about it at all.
But you’re a good person. These folks are clearly less inclined to behave.
Feel superior. Plot revenge. Eat your cheese and drink your port.
3 year olds ask questions. Lots and lots of questions.
If my 4 year old asked me what fingering was because of some cunt next door, her next question would be regarding why my hands were round his neck.
Do you remember anything from when you were 3? Does it matter really?
I asked a bunch of people why they weren't distancing properly earlier, and they said if Jeremy Corbyn can go on bike rides why can't they do whatever they were doing in my imagined encounter?
It's not about remembering, it's about shaping her world view. Explaining fingering away is probably easy, you just lie, but if he phrases something in a way that can be understood it will change the way the child sees the world. Steal a portion of innocence if you will.
When my daughter was 3 she saw a man with mental health issues getting arrested. Screaming, shouting, fighting, spitting, the works. She woke up every night thinking he was coming to get her and talks about it to this day if we go past where it happened.
