I guess the issue is, and I have no real knowledge in the field, that causes of death are probably fairly generic, respiratory failure, heart failure etc. In the end, I guess, there are a fairly limited number of ways to go.

In other fall of society news the supermarket here (Waitrose, natch) seems to have random security guards patrolling it now (presumably they need the hours after 'bouncing' went out the window with pubs and clubs being closed). I'm not really sure what they are meant to be doing and I'm not sure they are either.

I think the number of cases there has been artificially low because they haven't tested very much, within a week or two it will start to blow up. I left Mexico two days ago, at that point universities had closed and people were just starting to put on facemasks. The media was also spending most of the time talking about coronavirus, interviewing pop stars who had it etc, which hadn't been the case even a couple of days earlier.

Not sure what you make of it, but I think it could really dark in Mexico for a number of reasons. 1) As of a week ago the average pleb either didn't seem to think it was real or a very big deal, or they thought it was just something restricted to China Italy and the US. I'm not sure how long it will take for people to realize it's actually serious. 2) A lot of people just can't afford not to get paid for a month, and so much of the industry is based on tourism that even if people don't have the viruses themselves, their livelihoods will dry up. Leading to more crime etc. 3) The government doesn't really have the power to force people to stay inside, as in European or Asian countries. And besides, the president's main strategy is to defeat the virus with magic amulets. 4) The level of sanitation is just lower. The other day was looking at a street vendor making tacos al pastor with his ungloved hands thinking, if that guy gets coronavirus, we're all going to.

I assume you're staying in St Louis?

I bought some hay fever spray (Beconase?) today which is what my GP instructed as he laughed me off the phone a week ago. One dosage in and it's made fuck all impact. How long is this shit going to go on for? I contracted it over 3 weeks ago ffs.

"Professor Nirmal Kumarm consultant otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, said the nose was main entry point for the virus when we breathe in droplets infected with coronavirus."

Fuck all the oldies, it's the Iranians that are most at risk.

1000 piece jigsaw has also been purchased and I highly recommend it. Although I don't have a table for it so my knees are going to look like Lisa Ann's.

I had rather assumed breathing through the nose would be preferable (seeing as it is generally, for filtering shit out) but maybe I'll have to go back to mouth breathing now (and the attendant coughing fits that can bring on). Hmmmm.

The odds look significant. Mild bout of fever at onset (so mild I carried on going into work and saying to people I had it for some lols back when no one took the threat too seriously in London) 3 weeks ago. All symptoms cleared within days but lost both senses and lung capacity has remained hindered so it's a respiratory infection for sure. Would be nice for it to start pissin off though as the loss of smell/taste alone fucks with your mental state let alone quarantining a borderline ADHD adult.

Also, I was sent out in search of a kettlebell today (wtf?) and the local sports emporium looked like it had been looted - to the extent that someone was backing up a van to the doors as I arrived to transfer some massive bit of kit into. They reckoned they'd sold 40 of these kettlebells this week and I was very much late to the party. Everyone has gone mad.

Same here. I see the wife’s gym lent out all it’s equipment to members too. That’ll be fun to get back, half it is probably sold by now.

I've always been confused about what that meant. Is it literally any chronic issue? Is seasonal allergies an underlying condition? I'm guessing asthma is

Only some parts of the country depend on tourism, but yes, it is bound to be a shitshow over there, just like everything else is.

I moved out of St. Louis like two years ago.

793 new deaths in Italy. More than 500 in Lombardy alone. The chief health bloke in Lombardy has said they expect either today or tomorrow to be their worst days. Presumably they can tell from the pattern of diagnoses/hospitalisation. Italy overall is still a couple of weeks away from the peak, he said.

They’re not spelled differently, they’re just the Irish versions of Patrick and Michael. Just like Spanish and German people aren’t all going around called Steven and William.

He says it as I would say Michael, but maybe that's just for the benefit of my imperialist English ears. He's also from Cork which probably doesn't help.

Padraic = Porrick (ish) I am comfortable with.

The start is elongated as there’s a fada on the a. Pádraic.

There’s one on the a in Micheál too.

I've no idea what's going on in Lombardy, but if they're working down a list from old to young you could easily get a day where a load of young uns croak it at once.
