Played for a few hours tonight and that'll be it until next Friday.
The menu stuff (while slow to navigate) is great and the possibilities could conjure up some cracking stuff. The gameplay however on first impressions is a bit shit. It's slow, forward runs are worse than ever and the ball bouncing back to your opponent when you tackle them is still widerife. I know it's only a beta and as I haven't experienced one before I don't know how significantly these things normally change, but it looks like they've taken FIFA19, slapped it about a bit, then served it up.
Well, I enjoyed the placing games and went 3-1-1, the loss being the DC when I was winning. Game feels just as quick to me, @Yevrah, but only since getting an entirely 80+ team with chem styles - I always think the new ones are sluggish stepping down from a 195 end game team in the previous edition, so I’d suggest it might be that?
I’ve gone 1-3 in Rivals, and it’s fucking horrible. Congested middle of the park, and constantly being robbed of the ball miliseconds after I make the tackle. The former seems no worse a scenario than in ‘19, but obviously I’d need to learn how to break it again, the latter seems worse, which is saying something. It genuinely feels like there’s little point winning the ball at times as they rob it back in a better position- it’s no surprise these cunts don’t bother tackling and simple cut passing lanes when they’re defending.
Still not sold on keeping up with Fifa this year, I think it might be my year out.

They have detailed stats with those shit friendly game modes though.
Tells me how many goals scored vs opponents, the breakdown of those goals (short range, long range, free kicks, penalties), shot conversion, goal times, where I scored the goal (I favour both the bottom corners based on 1 match), the attacking lanes you use, ground passing success rate, crossing, dribbling, standing tackles, sliding tackles, interceptions, blocked shots and discipline.
Why they couldn't do that on regular UT and player stats I have no idea.
That king of the hill mode is kind of dumb. Hold the ball in a box to get a multiplier than then score before it expires. Lad I was playing quit at 10-0 after 30 mins.
There wasn't one for Chiellini or Saul for me (89 and 85 respectively and amongst top for their positions in their divisions) so I'm wondering if it's disabled for the Beta

The few hours on this have pretty much put the final nail in the coffin of 19 for me. I tried to load it up to do some objectives but lasted about 30 seconds

How is the timed finishing?
That closed beta pack has ruined the pack only element of what I was doing somewhat, but will be useful to see what the game plays like with properly good players.
Have they given out a pack containing loads of good players?

Just played my first Rivals game and the pinballing around defence is still rife.
Logged in to find 180k waiting for me. Not sure I'm a fan of that pack animation though.

It's horrific and somehow worse than it was in FIFA19. Tackling is just a complete crapshoot.
I found myself disagreeing most times when Nep would complain but in this version it's mental.
I also just went up for a header with an opponent from a goal kick and the ball came back as if it hit an invisible wall. FIFA PHYSICS!
And kick-off goals?

That's good news on Essien. If he isnt retired yet, then that gives hope that other old players like Zlatan, De Rossi, Iniesta, etc could all get icon cards

I don't like how each version of a card, look the same when they are actually playing. Every version of Ian Wright will probably be bald or have hair. Which is annoying.

I'd just recommend getting as many high level league silvers as you can early doors.

I'll give it a shot like I always do.
Volta seems ok. It's exactly the same as FIFA Street really.
Always find the demos a bit weird as they play quite a lot differently to the full game.
Difficult to judge without online, but it feels very promising.
Share played and it still feels really good. You are rewarded for actual defeding.
I also opened a few packs on FIFA 19 that i still had and manged to pull C.Ron and Blanc
