It's a great save by Schmeichel and it shouldn't have been a red card for Zanka because he made an attempt to win the ball. The referee got it right.

If you make a "reasonable and fair attempt to get the ball" its a yellow. Otherwise a red. That is a "professional foul" as you get and should still be a red.

They literally always are. Every now and again a referee decides to clamp down on it but the vast majority of the time it's just ignored.

Last Danish one was a joke. Keeper went the wrong way and then he just booted it straight at him.
There was like a total of 4-5 good ones out of 22 if you include the previous one. Just horrible.
Kjaer didn't deserve to go out for his penalty, but Denmark did for that foul. Those should be penalty goals.
Heroic stuff from that Dane who took Rebic out, and the rule is right (although that was extremely borderline as to playing the ball). It's a good rule. Shame they couldn't follow it up like a proper country and win the shootout. Kjaer took the only decent penalty, but what a beauty it was. Shame they don't give bonus points for style.

I really want penalty goals. Make a theatrical thing where the ref pings it up to the goal line, does some double-armed signal into the net, then points back to the centre circle as all 11 defenders seethe at him.
Problem with that idea is that, once a striker gets beyond the last man, the defender will just give up.
I've decided Mexico will not only win today, but piss it about 3-0.
