It's a perfect example of why those should always be a red, the defender there is highly incentivised to commit deliberate foul play.
Appalling, appalling piece of legislation.

Aye, that new rule is fucking bollocks.
LOL BOTTLE IT HARDER Luka
Did he just say 'saved Danes bacon'? That doesn't even work. Saved the Danish bacon. Even saved Denmark's bacon would have done.
Still don't know why Rebic didn't shoot after he slid it past Schmeichel and no fucking clue how that isn't a red.
I don't like the new rule either but does it really matter? Do you really reckon he wouldn't have done the same?

It's a great save by Schmeichel and it shouldn't have been a red card for Zanka because he made an attempt to win the ball. The referee got it right.
Tool.
Should have been a re take anyway.
99% sure that is still supposed to be a red card.
If you make a "reasonable and fair attempt to get the ball" its a yellow. Otherwise a red. That is a "professional foul" as you get and should still be a red.
His interpretation of the law is correct. His interpretation of the lads intent is wrong.
Jimmy is right btw, it doesn't get better than this.
Bollocks. He brought him down to make sure he didnt score.
I want Denmark to win but thats a red all day.
It's also mental how far off the line Kasper was and the ref didn't order a retake.
Quality penalties, these.
That was nice.
That was the most obvious penalty ever.
Straight run ups are cock.
Why are the goalkeepers half-way off the line in every single penalty?
Well fuck me they won a penalty shootout. Thought it was Turkey 08 all over again.
That's an astonishing amount of horrible penalties we've seen today.
That last Danish penalty was a disgrace.
I think there was maybe one or two good penalties out of 11.
There should be a moratorium on left footed penalty takers.
Last Danish one was a joke. Keeper went the wrong way and then he just booted it straight at him.
Kjaer didn't deserve to go out for his penalty, but Denmark did for that foul. Those should be penalty goals.
Heroic stuff from that Dane who took Rebic out, and the rule is right (although that was extremely borderline as to playing the ball). It's a good rule. Shame they couldn't follow it up like a proper country and win the shootout. Kjaer took the only decent penalty, but what a beauty it was. Shame they don't give bonus points for style.
It'll be sin bins and fingers up everyone's arses next.
I really want penalty goals. Make a theatrical thing where the ref pings it up to the goal line, does some double-armed signal into the net, then points back to the centre circle as all 11 defenders seethe at him.
Problem with that idea is that, once a striker gets beyond the last man, the defender will just give up.
I've decided Mexico will not only win today, but piss it about 3-0.
