I watched Get Out, which was alright. Best Picture nominee and actual winner of original screenplay though? Fuck me, and fuck me hard.

It was god you resist cunt.
It's an alright, maybe good film, but not a fucking chance that gets nominated for best picture or wins best screenplay in years gone by. And not because the academy were racist (as well they are/were and no doubt still are), but because it's just not that good.
I fucking hate that film
How so?
@Baz there's a new film out on Netflix written, directed by, and starring the four lads from Workaholics.
Annihilation, the new Alex Garland thing Netflix have bought, is about ninety percent wonderful and ten percent absolute toilet.
It isn't a horror film but there's one sequence in there involving a creature that will stick with me for quite a while.
I decided that I'm going to subject myself to that Justice League film, so I watched Wonder Woman. It's alright, but it's obscene how much of a bird that actress is. There must be a million munters somewhere all just balancing her out.
I'd strongly advise against it. It's just an abject waste of two hours. The only positive I took from it is that The White Stripes' Icky Thump plays over one scene and I like that song.
Even Gal Gadot, who was great in Wonder Woman, does nothing of interest.
I’m off Thursday so will probably watch it twice.
@Mike said it was turd and overly gory, but he doesn’t watch Workaholics so what does he know.
Gonna watch it, John?
I'm a twit
Nope. Those are the three most annoying people on earth and Workaholics was bilge.
The Last Jedi has been poor enough but I've just got to the casino bit and I'm about ready to just switch it off.
That was bad.
Went to see Ready Player One today. It drags in parts (especially near the end), is a little too long and the characters are pretty bland with little development.
The cultural references and the visuals are brilliant though.
I enjoyed it but really can't see it having any sort of re-watch value.
The former.
I watched Spider-Man: Homecoming the other day, and it's a bit boring when Michael Keaton isn't on.
A Quiet Place is superb. Tense and gripping right from the off.
The latest REBOOT made sense to avoid having a forty year old Spider Man in these bring-it-all-together Avengers films. It probably is the best Spider Man film (his fat mate was lol as well), but that says more about the old[er] films and Spider Man being a crap character than anything.
Isle of Dogs is fucking odd. Good though.
The newest Spider-Man film is quality, and I really don’t enjoy superhero films. That and deadpool are the only ones I’d rewatch.
I'm a twit
I also enjoyed GOTG2 a lot.
Anyone seen A Quiet Place yet?
Generally horrors just aren't my thing but this has been getting amazing reviews plus Jim.
Watched The Last Jedi on a plane the other day.
I didn't really like it. I don't know why people feel they need to shit over everything that's old. Just let our childhood heroes be badass and awesome and kick the shit outta people.
It's not a horror movie, more of a survival movie with horror elements, kinda like Alien. It is good though, definitely worth a watch.
Saw Ghost Stories on Tuesday too, which is basically a psychological horror movie disguised as three more traditional horror shorts. I thought it was nicely done, with the cases all tying in to the end & each offering a couple of good jump-scare moments.
That's splitting hairs a bit is it not? Alien is essentially a horror film set in space.
WTF.
So it's a horror movie then?
I know what he means but it's still a horror movie.
It's not a scary horror film. There are one or two jump scares, but it's more about tension than scares.
Annihilation has a lot of elements that make up better movies such as Arrival and Under the Skin. But itself isn't that good.
Wildling - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5085924/
This leaked online today, and the RT reviews were decent so I gave it a go. A lot better than expected, with a very good central performance and an interesting take on a genre there's been a lot of. Well worth a watch, its a bit low/mid budget so can look a little shoddy in places but I enjoyed the shit out of it.
Ended up watching the following on the plane journeys:
Wonder
Battle of the Sexes
The Iron Giant (original animated)
I wanted to watch Thee Billboards and Blade Runner 2049 too but they had edited all R movies so anyone could watch them. I got tried of people being dubbed to say 'Fudge, Freak, Mother Lover and Poop' so had to swerve them.
Favourite of those three was Iron Giant which was excellent. Wonder was probably the worst and I really don't understand the praise it has been getting, his face wasn't even that bad.
You Were Never Really Here was everything I hoped it'd be. Cinema as I adore it.
Just seen the trailer for the new Jurassic World film. What the fuck is that shit
Positives- Jeff Goldblum.
There endeth positives.
Go see Infinity War as soon as you fucking can.
I'm seeing it this weekend. Proper excited but reading the reviews has indicated that the main problem the film has is giving enough relevant screen time when you have a billion superheroes, which is an understandable problem I guess.
On the subject of Marvel, got round to watching Black Panther. It's a solid film, but I can't help thinking that all the rave reviews are down to OMG BLACK CULTURE and OMG SUB-TEXT ABOUT RACIAL INEQUALITY. It's good, but it's not as good as Thor Ragnarok or GoTG 2.
I do also want to watch the new Avengers film, but I still haven't gotten around to watch Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther.
Also, I never actually finished the last avengers film so I resorted to reading how it ended for the sake of keeping up with "the universe story arc" but when I recently watched Spiderman: Homecoming I was already a little confused about what had exactly happened before.

Let's just say everyone gets their share of the pie and no one feels left out or shoehorned in the movie for the sake of it.I went in having only seen the 2 trailers and no tv spots and stuff and my mind was absolutely blown to bits.It was certainly the best movie-going experience i've ever had since the theater was packed and everyone reacted expertly to what was transpiring in the screen.
