Sir Andy Murray.
Someone shoot me.
Your username needs a knighting Mahow.
There ought to be some sort of mandatory thirty year period between retirement and knighthood.
There ought to be indeed (presuambly before 1997 there was?). The Wimbledon coverage this year is going to be insufferable.
I see another worthwhile Knight (Sir Bradley of Wiggins) has retired with a TUE shaped cloud over him.
I don't know much about cycling, so what's the deal? It sounds dodgy as fuck.
Or at least a minimum age you need to make it to before you qualify. 50, or something. We can't have 29 year olds running around with knighthood's, it's just daft. I can't find any mention of anybody who has been given it at a younger age than him. Although apparently Ellen Macarthur was made a Dame at 28, and who gives a shit about her anymore?
Bobby Charlton got his in 1994, so that could serve as a rough guide.
Sir Andy Mahowry needs to be a thing.
It's a thing.
Why do people hate Andy Murray?
When they're handed out to all and sundry does it not devalue them a bit? Any more and they'll be like an England cap under Hodgson.
At least he didn't cap Chris Powell.
Suck it Mahow.
Tad gutted Andy Murray has accepted that.
What we're saying is Ken Dodd is about the right age for a knighthood?
Sir Andy Murray.
Sir Mo Farah is rather special seeing as most of the public would have had him turned around and shoved back on the boat when he was 8.
Team Sky marginal gains have a more logical explanation.
If you want a good level of irate, look at digger forum on Twitter. He is determined to bring Wiggins and sky down. https://twitter.com/Digger_forum?s=09
Some cunt was on the radio this morning claiming that these athletes deserved even more recognition because they dedicate their whole life to their sport fore the benefit of the country. What a load of fucking bollocks... they work no harder or no less than every other cunt with a 9-5 job.
Seething.
Well that's bollocks. Have you read the job thread?
That is total nonsense. When you're finished a 9-5 that's you done, it consumes their entire life from diet to relationships to fucking everything.
Fair point, TTH excluded.
Most jobs effect relationships, effect where you live, effect your happiness. I'm not suggesting that they don't work hard, they clearly do - but they also choose to do it, they are mostly (note; mostly) well compensated for it. They don't deserve to be knighted anymore than someone who has worked non-stop for 45 years, come rain or shine.
Also, I wish my last job "finished" at 5pm... I was on it until about 11, whether it be emailing, still in the office or calls.
It's 'affect'.
No knighthood for you.
For once the WWE has it right, leave all this stuff until they've retired.
Or dead.
Realistically, some of us will have a retirement that lasts 30 years.
Wasn't expecting Murray at all but on merit it makes sense. I share the feeling of someone so young being knighted being 'wrong', though. Him still competing while being called "Sir" is going to be more than a little strange.
Henman must be seething
Does Wiggins lose his Sir now then?
Has anyone ever had one taken back?
Jimmy Saville posthumously.
Mugabe.
Did that Banker? The RBS one.
I don't think you can take them away.
Never mind Wiggins, Lord Coe lying to his fellow MPs should be getting more attention.
Didn’t Philip Green have his taken off of him for, you know, stealing the pension of every fucker that’s ever worked for him? Heavy price to pay.
Did Fred Goodwin lose his? I think he did, although if we're going to start taking them back the list is going to get very short indeed.
You can take them away if they are still alive (Phil Taylor), but if they die with them (Jimmy Savile) then you can't because it technically just expires with them, although they are still remembered with their honours.
