Terrible week all round. A measly 37 points.
Terrible week all round. A measly 37 points.
Zlatan had to go now
Lukaku in.
I have plenty in the bank now so I could maybe sacrifice 4 points to get De Bruyne for Capoue or Costa for Diomande. Not sure which is best, but inclined to go for De Bruyne with Citys fixtures. Reckon they will bounce back straight away from their loss this weekend.
Exactly same. Lukaku captain.
Heaton & Gundogan on the bench :moop;
Heaton, Sanchez and Aguero combining for more points than I got total last week.
I went for the risky captain of Lukaku instead of Aguero. I may be regretting it now.
Another shit week. Doing my head in at the moment.
Rondon vs Jakupovic
Costa vs Vertonghen
Lukaku vs Van Dijk
Made my first bad decision for a while this week. Was going to use all out attack as only two of my defenders had a non shit match coming up, but pussied out of it as I thought Willian would be taking Pedro's place today, but the cunt is starting. I also took captaincy off Costa and gave it to Sanchez last minute. Hoping it's just a 1-0 win for them now.
Ian Nacho gamble didn't pay off, but I can deal with that. Pedro scoring a hattrick will piss me right off though.
Sack that. I'm top? WTF.
Thats ridiculous, you picked an almost perfect starting squad there. Costa is the top scoring player in the game so perfect as captain every week, the three Liverpool mids have all been brilliant, Fer has had a great goal scoring run, Lukaku has scored well and you have got a few points from the defence.
If you know your password logon and play your wildcard to get rid of Kante and Coutinho, can also sort the defence out a bit.
Fair play though, 25,000th out of 4.2m without any transfer or changes is pretty special.
Are 'good' defenders worth it in this? Obviously the Chelsea boys on their clean sheet run were great to have, but there's a 1m+ difference between Walker and McAuley / Daniels for about an extra 10 points over the season so far. Is that 1m better spent on midfielders and attackers? That's my approach now - I've packed hazard, ozil, mane ; lukaku, costa, benteke in to my team now. Looking to squeeze one more top quality player in if I can manage it.
From what I can tell since the PL has become so competititive that there are no "safe" fixtures anymore (almost at least) - there isn't much value in defence. Best you can do is try to go for consistent goalscorers or passers. Bellerin is good as such, since he might also get a clean sheet now and then (though Arsenal are great att making a 3-0 win turn into 3-1 instead).
So all in all, there doesn't seem to be much value in defence IMO.
Had Zaha on my bench the last 4 gameweeks, he's got 35 points in that time
It's definitely been the way, as you say it's only really been Chelsea consistently keeping clean sheets and you surely want both Hazard and Costa in your team, so there's only a space for one of their defenders anyway and I'd agree the money is better spent elsewhere. My midtable defenders pick up enough points every now and then to be worthwhile and it's meant I can go ridiculously top heavy.
You've nailed it. That's the kind of team I'm building towards. Shame I wasted my wildcard already.
2 gameweeks in a row I've forgotten to change my team. FFS.
I had 2 points from Cech and Monreal on Tuesday, but Rondon's 17, Eriksen's 19, Clyne's 10 and van Dijk's 9 has helped to boost me to 70.
The guy with the top points score this week got 154 points - he used the bench boost chip to gain an extra 40 points, he had Chris Brunt as Captain and all but three of his players got bonus points. Didn't even make any transfers this week to make it happen, either.
I always go out in the cup to the sort of person who has Brunt as captain, but I never have the balls to do something like that myself.
Went with Kane. Can't be often Spurs score 3 goals and he has nothing to do with any of them.
I've persisted with Negredo since the start of the season.
Dropped him this week.
Seriously?
Well, that's annoying.
Stinker for me as well. Changed captain last minute from Kane to Hazard. Kane is an absolute banker this week and had him set as captain ready for it, but 2 minutes before the deadline felt compelled to do some tinkering.
I'm just annoyed because a bench boost would have taken me above a mate who takes it way too seriously. His entire twitter timeline is dedicated to the stuff and he's always on forums finding the most efficient players etc.
Was ready for him to come to the flat and I'd be like
I'm left with Arsenal and Liverpool running rampant to do much this week. I thought Bailly was back from injury now?
My old flatmates used to seethe at the fact that I worked for Opta and would waste a lot of time and energy trying to prove they knew more about football than I did, even though I would never claim to be a know it all and working for Opta definitely doesn't mean that you are one. We had a fantasy league on the go and they would take it extremely seriously, like your mate and absolutely LOVE IT when they took an early lead over me. Clawed it back over the weeks and went top, as soon as that happened, they stopped playing and acted like they never cared about it, so I never got to use that face either. I got donned.
I've used my wildcard to make changes with Mane and Zaha both leaving for the AFCON.
Mignolet - (Hennessey)
Cahill - Jones - Monreal (Vertonghen - Smith)
Traore - Hazard - Firmino - Lallana - Xhaka
Aguero - Costa (Sinclair)
The other day some Bournemouth defender twat I have (Smith?) went off after 15 minutes and the fuckers kept a clean sheet and today Barragan does the same for Boro? What in the actual fuck?
I well and truly cursed Origi when I brought him in a few weeks ago as well. Apologies Divock.
So it would appear taking Mane, Lukaku and Baines out the side was a bit of a blooper.
FML.
Bringing in Traore, Xhaka and Sinclair was strange. As was using two wild cards one after the other.
Xhaka was decent I thought and I expect him to feature more now. Traore and Sinclair were cheap.
I'm not sure what the wild card business is but it meant transfers cost me no points init. Anyways yeah, fecked it.
Now that Verthongen is probably out for weeks, who's taking his place? Is it going to be Wimmer or Davies? Wimmer seems like the more obvious choice, but he's played about two minutes so far in the league this season.
I'd assume Davies as he plays there as the third centre half for Wales.
Boy did I need today's total.
Just four points separate the top four now.
I had a great week last week, forgot to change my team (one signing wouldn't have made a difference though) and it's been shit.
Heavily relying on Costa outperforming Sanchez today to maintain the gains I've made. Can already see that next week is going to be an absolute horror unless Liverpool and Chelsea roll back the years and play out another 4-4 classic. Goalless shitfest ahoy.
Captain Gabriel Jesus was as moronic move as ever by me.
I'm a twit
I also had an incredible week last.
This week not so much. Replacing costa has destroyed my front line.
Or not^
Lukaku, the son. Shame I accidentally left Sanchez as captain.
Triple captain Lukaku.
I've gone from 5th to the summit.
Tight at the top.
Two Arsenal players getting bonus points over Costa/Alonso is a joke.
Monreal and Giroud got bonus points? Fucking lol.
Bonus point system was probably designed by Mantralux.
Think Chamberlain got the points for some utterly bizarre reason.
It's genuinely broken.
Costa got 8 in the bonus point system. EIGHT.
