Surely the issue here is that you've told him last season that he's going to stay on. You let him appoint (presumably) a new back room team. Benteke, at £33m, was his signing (he 'demanded' it, apparently).
You do all of this, and let him spend tens of millions and then sack him after eight games. Either he was the right man in the summer or he wasn't, and if he wasn't then what the fuck are you doing not sacking him at the end of May and letting us do something properly.
It's going to be a square peg in a round hole. Again. There's actually some decent players in the squad who we simply aren't getting anywhere close to the best out of, but what can you do. It's six weeks into the season. Why even bother?
It's a good thing someone was here to keep an eye on him. Has there been a 'watch' which hasn't proven successful yet?
What a strange time to do it. Perhaps there was an ultimatum, win today or get fired. Hard to feel too sad about it but it will depend massively on who succeeds him. If we get Klopp then the Red Sox have donned it.
Though GS does make a very good point about the summer signings.
You have to assume it's someone like Klopp who has said "I'll only join if it's now" (or similar). Sacking him, putting Sean O'Driscoll in temporary charge and embarking on another American-style "let's interview everyone" shenanigan may finish us as a club.
If you get Klopp you've got a German mentalist with a beard and a fleece. The rest is up for grabs.
Perhaps, but he has a track record.
Rodgers was appointed with a track record of a couple of failures at Watford and Reading and a couple of half-decent seasons at Swansea.
I read a good article the other day which made reference to the fact that Rodgers was always talking the club up. Constantly. It was pointed out that the likes of Dalglish and Benitez never had to do this, largely because they'd contributed to making the club great in the first place.
Rodgers was, unfortunately, a spoofer and it was exposed as such when the going started to get tough. Outside the Suarez-inspired mental season, we only had two decent runs and three and a bit seasons in we're still getting nightmares when a ball comes into the box.
Let's get the name of the thread changed, by the way.
Bring in Paul Ince.
It was only going to go downhill after he sold Suso.
I had heard this going around this morning, never believed it but it was the loudest the rumours had been.
However I've heard if Klopp joins he wants done with this committee shite and to be left to it.
Jamie Redknapp phoning in to Sky Sports News.
"Yeah, big surprise this Jim, but ma dad's available..."
More detailed insight into the sacking here.

What's the envelope thing?
Carragher's reaction to Henry placing his hand on his knee is better.
EDIT: Rodgers waving three envelopes about a summer or two ago, Boyd, and telling the players they contained the names of three players he predicted would let him down. Something along those lines.
Alex Ferguson did that years ago. Think it was the season that he won the treble.
To be fair, it was part of the Liverpool documentary on Channel 5. All for the cameras.
As we've since learned, Brendan Rodgers is not Alex Ferguson.
Haha, that genuinely made me lol.
@Jeet
Here was me thinking those JOE lot were on a brilliant streak with those videos, but clearly those posting them have been curating out the shit. Now that Jeet is back on board it makes more sense.
I quite like them.

New board.
Notice Jim mentioned Klopp's nationality. He's got a fantastic record and if the bloke was British you wouldn't be able to stop praising him.
@GS, I understand the "if he was the right man then" stuff, but it probably wasn't as black and white as 'yes he is', or 'no he isn't'. They clearly had some doubts, decided to give him a go at this season, and haven't liked what they've seen.
Regarding the transfers, it seems unlikely they'd let him be 100% responsible for Benteke and co, after the transfer committee stuff previously. If that was actually the case, well it's a very odd move to sack him now...
That Henry/Carragher vine is so good. I can't stop watching.
Liverpool clearly acting sharply to nab Allardici before Sunderland
Oh and we need Taz here for this.
@Don :************)
Is he, or is he not German?
He's from Good Footballania, where they speak in Good Football.
Has De Boer fell completely out of contention then?
They should hire Roberto Martinez. I believe they have his phone number.
I we have done this for De Boer then just pack it all up now.
If he was a Londoner he'd be running an oyster bar in Hoxton.
Let's face facts best we could get at the minute is probably Klopp maybe Ancelotti. So it's not going to be either of them because this is Liverpool and they deal in crushing any optimism that I may have. Advocaat it is then.
What's Jurgen Klinsmann up to these days? He could be decent if Klopp isn't possible.
Still? He should fuck that off.
