The regional breakdown is mental.
The regional breakdown is mental.
The real question here is how many accounts has Harold tried creating in the last 24 hours.
Scotland as a whole (apart from some fisherman) is absolutely SEETHING and according the radio phone in today England is full of racists.
Scottish independence if Sturg calls it now will win. If she cares about the country she'll give it 5-10 years. Holy shit.
HOLY SHIT.
The Scots have a point. There's a strong xenophobic element to this - both directed at Europeans and more far-flung immigrants.
Did someone say the other day that Spain now becomes a net contributor? The fallout for the EU could be just as massive as anything over here. I don't think there will quite be the Armageddon that has been forecast by the remain side but I reckon there will be a lot of belt tightening in the next few years. Medium term I think all will be ok but short term it's going to be tough.
Whilst that is probably true of the direction the leave campaign ended up going (at least as it seemed with actual voters) it misses a bigger point to simply dismiss this as petty prejudice. This was entirely avoidable. Arrogance (the sort which dismisses any criticism of the four freedoms as idle racism) on the part of the political establishment is what has brought this about. Good luck being allowed to join whatever is left of the EU by the time you vote to leave Scotland.
What do we think the chances of the EU coming back with concessions to enable us to stay? I think that is what Boris wants deep down.
Incidentally, is this article 50 process irreversible? Once it kicks in, is the UK bound to leave, or can it simply call it off if things look a bit shit?
Juncker's fired a few shots, I see.
The most sensible outcome of all this would be to actually create a sensible version of the 2 speed Europe which has sort of brought itself into existence with the Eurozone. It won't happen, as that would be seen as sacrificing the project, but, in the long term, it would probably be the best way to preserve it.
FUCK I told you. She's just announced legal proceedings for another independence referendum!
Claude has said 'non' although I had always thought this the most likely outcome. A hardline to stop contagion seems a massively misplaced strategy. They won't have to worry about contagion if they collapse the wider European economy (including the UK) by refusing to trade on sensible terms with the UK.
When you're relying on Spain to be a net contributor to, well, anything other than doping and inappropriate blacking up then you have a real problem.
What's Juncker said? Most likely we'll see the anti-democratic nature of that prick, and the other pricks over the next while. They'll see no reason why the result has to be honoured and will think in terms of punishing the UK for voting the wrong way.
Very good speech by Nicola Sturgeon. And i don't blame her one bit for wanting another referendum for independence.
The fallout of this is going to be huge. Big decision to be put on the shoulders of the UK public. Most of whom don't fully understand the reverberation of leaving the EU.
Can't wait to go crawling back to the failed EU project! Hooray!
Donald Trump's speech...he just babbles on and says the first thing that enters his head. Gawd bless him.
Can Ruth Davidson become prime minister?
If you think this vote was about racism, you don't get it.
I think that is the first time I've ever agreed with anything I've heard Nicola Sturgeon say.
Tony Blair is at Leave HQ. All yours Jim.
No confidence vote in Corbyn has been launched.
Just saw that.
Who launched it and how does it work?
Are people seriously calling for an independent London?
I'm not British but based off what I'm reading it was about national sovereignty and the need to be able to implement sustainable policies for Britains long term interest / stability. The EU is going to implode sooner or later, Britain doesn't need them and doesn't need to go down with that ship.
Y'all forget, Britain was the OG big swinging dick superpower of the world, and that was back when peoples weren't pussies. On the whole you hate an elite tier culture, infrastructure, human capital and shared history, what the hell were you doing allowing yourselves to be cucked by the EU? Forget about dilution from continental European sensibilities, go be unapologetically British.
That's what it should have been about, but I think, in reality, immigration, and the abject failure of the remain campaign to address the issue, was the deal breaker for a significant percentage of the electorate.
Scaremongering by the Remain actually pushed more into the Leave side I reckon.
Yeah, it was a truly disastrous campaign. Historically bad, to match the level of misjudgment which led to calling the damn thing in the first place.
Someone needs to preserve all Gideon's tweets from the last three months and put them in a museum.
The jock turnout is quite funny in all this seethe. Wasn't the outcome in England always going to decide this, seeing as that's where all the people live?
What's the case for independence with the oil price as it is at the moment? Hope to throw themselves on the mercy of the EU? Just imagine them losing again.
Phillipe Auclair appears to have had an absolute meltdown.
Donald Trump's reaction is probably more sensible than what appears to be the official US Government position. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.
Wasn't what Juncker said already known? It's an advisory referendum, there wasn't a guillotine hovering over the channel. At the risk of stating the obvious we're still in until the process of leaving takes place, and the renegotiation package obviously won't come into play because what would be the point.
I find it apt that the only party that actually campaigned for what their voters wanted, has won this. And quite comfortably too, compared to how results were expected.
The Tories were always going to be split, but Corbyn seriously fucked Labour over in this.
Quite amused by panicked Brexiters suddenly realising that leaving a trade bloc with all of your major trading partners is actually going to have consequences.
Labor voters voted to remain about 65-35 from memory.
