Can't believe I overcooked my £10 fillet steak because my stupid pressure cooker acted up and distracted me. Bastard. It's medium to well. Tragic.

    Fillet steak is for plebs.

    https://www.eatingthaifood.com/thai-recipes/

Been making some of the recipes from here lately and they have been awesome so far (although I did put 50 grams of green chillies in the thai green curry paste as opposed to the suggested 150g - and it was still hot - so I've no idea what the fuck kind of asbestos coated mouths they have in Thailand).

Thai food in general is pretty awesome. Can't really go wrong, all the amazing flavours in there.

I've made a few things from that site before, it's really good.

    Thai Food https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/18620551..._2z7DzbDSZMECS

This is my go to for Thai recipes at the moment. Such a good book.

I'm with the broken headed one.

I'd have pretty much any cut of steak over fillet. It's tender but the lack of fat means that it's bland compared to a ribeye or sirloin.

The appeal of hello fresh is more that you get the right amount of ingredients so you don't end up wasting stuff (like when you buy a whole bunch of coriander but only need a bit and it just ends up sitting in the fridge til it gets chucked).

You still have to cook it.

We had it for a while but stopped it I think because of the cost.

I know you still have to cook it. The lazy part was about not doing his own shopping. And surely it defeats the purpose of not having waste if costs as much as, if not more than, having the waste anyway.

It just seems like one of those stupid tech start-up type things that is basically just doing something you can already do in a perfectly fine way but with some internet added in.

I did it for a month because I got a free pass. Great if you can afford it but the idea of spending what it costs is ridiculous.

Opening the app, seems a lot cheaper in the UK though. Over in Switzerland, it's about 18 quid per day.

What are the portion sizes like? If they're anything like the portion sizes on food packaging, they're must be tiny.

Yeah, my worry with things like that is that I'd probably end up ordering a pizza at 10pm when I was still famished after eating a spoonful of rice and a few cubes of chicken.

It's not that bad but if I was to compare the pasta portions to what I'd have at a family dinner, it'd be about 2/3 to a 1/2.

    - Hello Fresh = £5.60 per meal
    - Big Mac Meal = £4.95

So less than a quid for better/cheaper ingredients.

I've not done HF but used Gousto for a bit. Similar kinda deal. It was alright but the stuff didn't have a long enough shelf-life, meaning I had to eat it all within a short timeframe. I don't have time to/want to cook every night, so it was a bit of a faff. Food was nice though and I made a bunch of dishes I'd never have attempted otherwise.

I do 5 meals for £50 so it's actually £5 a meal. I've never found the portion sizes too small (only once actually).

It lets you cook things you normally wouldn't as well like duck. It's great value imo.

Pizza Hut seemed to have stepped their game up lately. Plus they regularly offer 50% off over £15 which is much better than the BOGOF that Dominos offer.

The 'pizza kitchen' in the back of my local corner shop does 2 for 1 large pizza deals at weekends and the pizza is both half the price, and better quality than Domino's and friends. Yes I'm fuelling the global drug trade and probably people trafficking/honour killing by ordering from there, but sometimes you've got to look after number one.

The bqq sauce is fire from aldi. Easily the best bbq sauce ive ever tasted. Ive going back to see if they have anymore. Looking to scrape up all the remainders, not sure if they have a long date on them until they are out-dated.

I suspect the beer sauce isnt pad either.

    I made this curry yesterday.

I had to add more Chilli as it wasn't hot enough, but it was decent for a low calorie affair.

I went to the Fish People Cafe in Glasgow yesterday and it was absolutely superb. Had a fish stew that had mussels and clams and stuff through it. Also tried oysters for the first time because they sold them individually. They look fucking vile as I'm sure everybody knows but other than an odd texture I quite liked them.

I tried them raw once and thought they were disgusting. Then had them grilled somewhere and they were delicious.

They were raw. As accompaniments they gave us a bottle of tabasco, some chopped and pickled shallots, lemon and a little bottle that sprayed out a malt whisky blend.

I think it was Borough Market I had them at. The guy levered them open and handed you them with a drop of lemon on. I spat mine into a nearby bin.
