Been looking for places around Sorrento and Amalfi and none are standing out, so we're going to look at Croatia. I like the looks of the Slovenian lake places too

I don't think you'll like Sorrento Giggles. Very traditional Italian restaurants etc. Food is really fantastic. That's where I got married.

Wullie give Positano a go, it's really nice.

Yeah I was thinking that. Looks like it'll be Croatia then as, even though the hotel and package in Zakynthos looks the best of the lot the agent said there's lots of kids and lots of English. Never thought I'd be heading for eastern Europe for it. I'll be in Hostel 5

Slovenia is great. We went there last year and if you have a car you can do so many different things in quite a short amount of time. I assume by lake places you mean lake Bled which is gorgeous albeit a tad small, but if you gi there you could also do quite a few other places too. Piran was great and I'd recommend going across the border to Trieste too.

Paid for booze on the flight with my Revolut card @Giggles. Payment went through on flight but just checked it there and it says it's been declined because I've got location based security active. You ever had that? Free booze

I stayed in a small town called Sant Agati, just outside Sorrento. Cheaper restaurants, less touristy and amazing views down to the bay. I did my excursions through here:

Dubrovnik and Split are both pretty great, especially the former although it's more touristy and expensive. Lake Bled in Slovenia is possibly the best place I've been.

Had a look at Positano but I think we left it a bit late to get anywhere. Looks stunning though, that's going on the list

It's all in that same area so you should have it as an available option. I heard Ischia's nice too, I'd fancy a look if we end up around there.

Yeah now that I check, I see it's only 80mins from Sorrento. The Ischia one looks a bit long for me to be on a boat.

What's the site for all this stuff nowadays? Still tripadvisor? I've Google Trips installed on my phone and it's pulled up some info based on my reservation emails, but there doesn't look to be a massive pile of stuff.

If you're flying into Naples I'd recommend getting the ferry over to Sorrento instead of driving round. Takes half the time and the views are incredible.

You can get the ferry from Sorrento to Capri as well and another one goes round to Positano.

Vesuvius and Pompeii are about half an hour from Sorrento as well.

Where are you staying? We had our reception in Palazzo Marziale but we stayed round the corner in La Favorita.

Never knew that was an option, though I think she's already booked an airport pickup with the hotel.

That Favorita was one that the agent said, but we thought it looked too fancy and they'd only do half board also. Can't remember the name of ours, Minerva springs to mind but that could be one of the Cavtat ones we near booked.

I'll try a and dig out the name of the steak place we went. There was a cracking little restaurant down at one of the wee coves as well. Delfino I'm sure it was called.

You'll love the 2 way coastal highway that is about 1.5 lanes wide.

Do some research on ferry times for Capri. Sailings aren't as often during the day as I thought and I ran out of time.

Might see can we switch the airport car to the day of departure and ferry down when we arrive.

Nothing above 30 degrees will definitely be nice though and the beer is no more expensive than here. If I can find that steak place, or anywhere that does proper meat, then it should be decent enough. I knew by her that she really wanted to go.

The Italians cook just as much meat as we do. Just more pasta and less fucking bread/spuds than we force down our necks.

Is most of it not just fatty ham?

I don't mind pasta, it's their sauces (or a pint of olive oil) that they put on it. At least with chips you add the stuff on top yourself.

Their main courses if you go to a decent Italian restaurant are usually things like chicken, beef, lamb etc as well as fish. They love their veal actually.

The most classical Italian dinner that I can think of is something like this. Though I doubt you'd see it so much down in Sorrento.

Just booked Sorrento. The hotel is right in the harbour where that Delfino restaurant is, which looks close enough to the town to not feel isolated but at the same time not heaving with traffic. I'm going to Pompeii to see dusty dead people!

That's a decent little bit. That harbour has two really good restaurants. Only thing letting it down is the lack of a beach. The elevator built into the lift up from that marina is pretty cool as well.

Anyone know how I'd go about getting tickets for Porto - Pacos de Ferreira next weekend? Nothing on the website and viagogo is a total farce. Anyone know if we'll stand a chance if we just rock up before kick-off? I daresay it'll be a popular game?

    (@Kikó ?)

How do you tag people on this?

At the ground surely, in the morning or day before. Not been to Portugal but everywhere in Spain (not the big two) seems to work like that and presumably Porto don't fill it with their 'members' or whatever for that sort of game.

Yeah, I suppose so, average attendance figures don't seem to indicate weekly sell-outs now that I've checked.

I was just surprised at there being none on the website and viagogo charging about 12 times what I'm paying for a night's rent for a single ticket. They really are despicable.

When are you going Giggles? If we're there at the same time

Left Istanbul after 3 weeks. Strange city. A week would probably be perfect if you're only doing tourist things. My last day I took a ferry out to this island with no cars, filled with old horse carriages and you can rent a bike and bike around the entire island. It was incredible (and the exact opposite of the rest of Istanbul).

@dino I want to go to Greece so badly now...
