Man City to have an Amazon Prime show

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41934307

Manchester City have signed a deal with Amazon Prime worth more than £10m for a behind-the-scenes TV series following the club through the 2017-18 season.

The Premier League has agreed to the series, likely to appear on Prime's on-demand video service in autumn 2018.

They do it with the NFL and Amazon have produced two seasons of All or Nothing (starring the Arizona Cardinals and LA Rams) which are brilliant.

The format works so it's understandable that they're getting involved with football.

Presumably they won't be able to show any matchday stuff due to rights conflicts, so we'll be stuck with enthralling clips of Fernandinho patronising disabled fans, and Kevin de Bruyne getting a massage.

I still haven’t watched the Rams All or Nothing. Should really get on that.

It’s a great concept though, so it’ll be interesting to see how it translates to football.

Been done before though - ‘That’s Football’, the one with Racist Ron at Pboro. Just a wider appeal at City I suppose.

You mean Big Ron Manager. I watched that. Most of it seemed to be devoted to touting Sean St Ledger as the next John Terry, ramming it home by getting him the same haircut and telling him to act like he was bigger than the club.

Oh god. Pep is one of the most socially awkward men in the world. I really don’t wanna watch him squirming on camera more than I already do for match interviews.

The great football documentaries have a bit of pathos about them. Graham Taylor's descent into despair, Brendan's picture of himself. The Salford one was all Gary Neville puffing-up, and this one will be a corporate nightmare.

This a sign Amazon are after Premier League rights? Facebook seems the more logical step.

Amazon are definitely after some football, they'll use it to drive subs just like Sky did.

But we'll just pirate it anyway. I've still yet to watch Premier Passions.

I'm into this idea, but fuck Man City. Doing it with Liverpool would be great in a tragicomic sort of way.

They want to sell Amazon Prime membership. This would be an interesting way to help push that.

    Not if everyone pirates it.
