Good point, it might be a requirement that they stick to independent shops. I wish they'd explain these rules, as it would answer a lot of questions.
When I first started watching I wondered why they didn't all split up in tasks like this, but now I realise they must clearly all have to stay as 2 teams no matter what. Yet that has never once been mentioned by anyone.
Guessing they also can't use the internet on their phones as well as the navigation which is a bit stupid.

I don't think it's ever mentioned that they can't just Google stuff either, which is a weird exclusion. Probably because you'd go "How the fuck does that prepare you for real business?" but obviously the answer is because telly.
Yeah, the no-internet rule has never been more obvious than in this task. I can perhaps understand why it might've been a good idea in 2005 to level the playing field, but in this day and age, surely it's time for a rule change.
Another one that was clear in this task is that they can't ask prices over the phone, which is why they sometimes end up making pointless journeys.
