I'm just saying it makes perfect sense to me so I'm going to continue using it as such

Thanks everyone as always for their continued commitment to correcting every single, solitary mistake I make

If they correct 'every single mistake you make,' how can the mistake also be solitary?

Different use of the word, the usage in relation to goals in football is more akin to a boat 'shipping' water ie letting water in.

It's footballing parlance, much like wingers aren't actually on planes and strikers aren't actually taking industrial action.

To ship a goal is to concede it.

Normally I wouldn't bother but in this case I wasn't actually certain who had won, I had to look up some American football results and I really don't think anyone else should have to go through that.

Except I said we "shipped a goal past*" someone. Not that we shipped goals.

Apparently I'm not the only person in history to use it like that either.

I googled "shipped x past" with the x being different numbers (3 thru 5) and tons of people have used the phrase like that.

    Winning!

So what you said was 'we conceded a goal past...'

You're welcome to use whichever words you want, just know that you're talking garbled nonsense.

No, what I said was "we shipped (v.) past tense - "transport (goods or people)" 6 past New England", as in we took the ball and transported it into the net by means of head and foot.

'Shipping' also means taking on water.

If you're committed to this thing though you should say 'shipped the ball', not the goal.

You're right, words can sometimes have many definitions.

    Ship
    verb
past tense: shipped; past participle: shipped
    1.
transport (goods or people) on a ship.
"Orlando City shipped 6 goals past New England"
    2.
(of a boat) take in (water) over the side.
"New England shipped 6 goals at Orlando City"

    Words are fun!

It's times like this it starts to make sense how an ostensibly civilised, advanced nation elected Donald Trump.

Everton have been horrific here, at home to a mid-table Cypriot team. Don't think they've had a shot all game apart from Rooney's goal which was a through ball from an opposition defender past his own keeper.

I saw this post while was still out and was waiting to get home before skewering this argument. Then the second goal came up on the highlights, then the third. Yeesh. Didn't this lot beat Pep, mate's Barcelona?

David Ospina seems unable to catch, kick or come out for a ball which considering his average position is behind his own goal line, seems a flaw. At least Sczxcxcxny was likeable while being shit.

Östersunds FK now have 6 points in the first ever european apperance, the season after their first ever top flight appearance, winning their first ever domestic cup, six seasons after they were in the swedish fourth tier.
    It's like an FM-save.
