What sort of coffee do you drink at home?

Inspired by Igor's post about Americans approaching cheese like old people here used to approach coffee.

    I'm intrigued.

Do you grind your own beans? Do you have an espresso machine? Do you use a cafetiere? An Aeropress? A moka pot? A Nespresso (or other brand) machine with the little capsules? Or just plain old instant?

Some cheap "donut" shop blend we pick in bulk for the Keurig. I take one with me on the way to work on a morning and may have 2 on a morning on a weekend.

I have a nespresso inissia but I've discovered that I actually don't like it that much, so I'm an instant Nescafé kind of man.

I appreciate quality but I'm not a snob either, and it's very context-dependant. My fave way to consume at home is high quality beans that i then grind myself, done in a small cafetiere. Happy to use pre-ground coffee if I can't be arsed, and I'll happily have decent quality instant at work on lunch breaks etc. And when I was really skint at Uni one summer I was drinking happy shopper instant with cold water to hasten how quickly I could neck it, as I couldn't afford milk.

Instant. I do like 'proper' coffee, but I can't be arsed making it every time I want a cup (which is 5+ times a day).

Oh, and I've never enjoyed coffee from those little pod things that go in those expensive machines. Well, they're alright, but they just taste like high-end instant coffee, but for about 20* the price.

Ennit. I tend to start the day with a "proper" coffee, then onto instant.

I don't enjoy coffee and I can't really pinpoint why. I like coffee flavoured things and the taste of a decent coffee is pleasant enough, but after one sip I always just think I'd rather have something else.

I feel the same way about tea. I went through a phase of a year or so where I got quite into strong, over-brewed tea, like lapsang that's been left for 5 minutes, but other than that it just does nowt for me.

I tend to drink that Kenco Millicano instant/whole bean blend stuff now. It's alright. I tried cafetieres before but always thought the coffee from them seemed like a pale imitation of stuff from a coffee shop. Like a really watered down Americano or something.

A place I used to work had a Nespresso machine but I never thought it was up to much either.

The trick with cafetieres is to put absolutely shit loads of coffee in it. I think the main issue with them is that it's probably the most wasteful way to drink it, because I think you need to put about 3 big heaped spoons to get a decent mug that tastes alright, whereas I think most people put about one spoon in and it tastes really tepid.

In "people trying to be middle class and fucking up", I remember going to a young lady's house, and her mother offered me a coffee. She put literally a tea spoon of coffee into the cafetiere, poured the water into it, then immediately served it. If it was someone like MJ who is trying to better themselves I'd say fair play for the effort, but this woman was like a well spoken academic, so fuck knows how she managed that. I think they were just a weird family though, as evidenced by our fling falling apart when the young lady turned to me in bed after a night out and said "i'm not sure I should be coming back with you, my mum doesn't think I should be staying at the house of a boy who isn't my boyfriend". She was 21 ffs.

I more often buy ground beans but I have the machine to grind them if I want. Black coffee at home as well. Sometimes I'm fancy and make a latte/Cappuccino type thing.

That stuff is great. Cheaper stuff is still fine though.
We have Spars own at work and it's awful, so much so I've switched to tea.

I have a cafetiere which I'll use every so often. I've tried with grinding beans but its a massive faff. I actually really like Sainsburys own ground stuff for the cafetiere.

Oh really? I'll give it a go. I find it's normally on offer somewhere, and then buy a few as it's expensive otherwise.

I’ve got my cafetière game down to a tee: 2 scoops into my single portion cafetière and leave for 5 minutes, or more if I want it stronger. I have that at breakfast, and at some point after dinner. Black or with a bit of milk bI don’t like instant - it just tastes watery.

We have one of those Tassimo pod too, which makes alright stuff but it works out at like 40p a cup with minimal time saved in actually making it. Sort of pointless.

I have previously denounced hot drinks on here (the old board), but started to appreciate the taste of coffee last year. I still don’t really like the resulting heating effect, though.

I go for that Azera stuff as well, when it's on half price, mixed about 50/50 with milk and water. It's not bad for a home coffee.

I have a grinder and use my Aeropress and if I want a flat white at the weekend I've got a wee milk frother. We have a few small batch roasters nearby that I buy bag from every few weeks.

I get free coffee from about 5 different shops in town as a perk of my bank account so tend to just grab a latte or two midweek from them.

How on earth can you do that? If I have more than about 2 cups of tea or coffee in a day I get chest pains. That's a shit load of caffeine.

My gf's family own a coffee roasting business so I get free beans (to drink and to flick). I used to drink Keurigs too because they are for the laziest of the lazy, but now I like the better quality stuff.
