When I first came over to the UK I, somewhat naively, thought that race wouldn't be much of an issue when it came to friendship groups. While it does happen, its not anywhere near the scale I'd imagined.
So, do you have a black friend? Indian friend? Chinese friend? Why haven't we all started hanging around like one big happy family?
I've a Portuguese friend with a bit of a tan and that's about it.
I only recall seeing one real life black person until at least my mid teens anyway.

No. There aren't really any round here. My year at school had two of them (and about five Asians), and one of them was a fat American who inexplicably moved here in year ten.

There was one black girl in my year at secondary and an Indian girl came in year 10. We also also had an Indian kid for a year or so in Primary School which served as our introduction to multiculturalism. He left as a fan of Limp Bizkit, so it was a roaring success.

Oriental Asian - yes
'Indian' - no
Middle Eastern - yes
It's kind of weird that I don't have an Indian/Pakistan (etc) friend as I lived in both Coventry and Birmingham but in my experience they are by far the most insular community.

I have friends of all the mentioned types. East Asians only one really, from Taiwan. All the Chinese are a bit out there, or their English is too poor to bother.

All my closest friends are white and Finnish, but I do have friends from my time abroad and from work who are from all possible ethnicities. I haven't stayed very close with most of them after moving or changing work place.

After nearly three years of friendship my Indo-Scots mate has finally invited me for dinner at his. His mum's samosas are amazing so hopefully that means I've integrated.

All of my friends are white. But some of them are Protestants, which probably counts for something in this part of the world.

Loads but growing up in a school with over 160 different nationalities will scew things like that.
My best friend when I was about 13 was black. His mother didn't like me because I lived on a council estate, and said I was a bad influence on him.
We drifted apart over the years and he ended up in prison.
My black mate is Trinidad and every summer goes to the Notting Hill Carnival to cruise along with something called the Trini Posse. I've never been able to work out why he never invited me along.
You'd hate every minute of Notting Hill Carnival that wasn't spotting C-Level African Footballers from the late 90s.

i've also been friends with a Chinese girl since big school, but she's fucking insane. the last time I saw her she was crying, talking about weird philosophical concepts and then told me she'd been awake for 3 days because of taking a load of speed. for the last couple of weeks she's been alternating between sending me long angry messages about how i should be out campaigning for the labour party, and tagging me in demented posts about jezza c.

Fairs. I've found black people to be very self-serving, which I think is why I've never formed a proper friendship despite coming close.
