A guy I work with is related to Sancho bizarrely. Rejected a 30k contract at City.

Getting into man city as a youngster via the youth system does sound difficult. Dortmund as a youth, sounds good from my perspective. Given the number he has been given, sounds like he could be used in the first team on the regular.

Barkley must have forgot that the medical consists of a drug and alcohol test. Must not of wanted to go through that off the back of a bank holiday weekend.

As some have pointed out, agreeing personal terms and then changing your mind during a medical is an odd thing.

lol at Virgil van Dijk, by the way. Southampton should make him train with the kids for the rest of his contract.

I dont think ive seen a transfer window with so many players expected to leave, but either they were forced to stay or nobody came in for them worth talking about.

All the players involved, especially mahrez, van dijk and bartley need to be playing for their freedom.

I'm fucking glad that clubs are taking control. It's good for the players themselves that they're not jumping ship every time a slightly better club comes sniffing. It's also good for the other clubs.

Also, anyone know what Barkley's racial background is? He's definitely got some black in him but he looks way too white to be half-black. Quarter maybe? Ryan Giggs tier?

Its a gift and a curse.

I prefer players to move around all the time. especially to rival clubs. I dont feel players should be held at a club against their will. Selling and buying players is part of the game.

Clubs are in absolute control. I dont know how transfer work 100% but the club has to accept an offer for a player before he can leave. If a player is at a club, and a bid is accepted. It shows the club really does not give a fuck about the player in the first place. If they did, they offer wouldnt be accepted in the first place. The club need to be loyal, not the players.

Whilst I understand the sentiment... players really shouldn't be signing 5 year contracts if they feel they may want to move on in a couple of years. Coutinho, for example, signed a 5 years contract just 6 odd months ago. It's a bit of a pisstake. That said, I'm not a fan a players being treated like assets by clubs - so I agree, that there needs to be some middle ground.

Most players will have literally zero control over their future, agents will do it all for them and make the decisions. Especially applies to the likes of Brazilians who have been lifted out of poverty.

Whoever is advising van Dijk has had an absolute nightmare.

It'll be hilarious is Everton just let Barkley run down his contract and train with the kids, scuppering any chance of him making the World Cup squad.

I never understand rich people getting done for drink driving. They've got enough money for a taxi or even to pay a driver to drive their car home.

Meanwhile I'm just thinking that Mourinho was not involved in any of all this madness, and his comments about Lukakus fee going to end up being "cheap" or whatever now makes quite a lot of sense.

There's a strange pivot that's happened where Mourinho seems like one of the more normal ones in extreme situations.

Sounds like Arsenal have really played a blinder with their handling of Sanchez. Can't see how he'll really be bothered to play for them again. If you're going to strongarm someone into seeing out their contract you can't say they can go at the last minute and then pull the rug out from under their feet. Now they'll get substandard service for a few months, if he even bothers to come back from Chile, before selling him for a fraction of what they could have in January. Ingenious.

I'd have got rid, accepted a mid-table finish and played Iwobi/whoever's next off the conveyor belt.

They may not even be able to sell him in January. In January, anyone from overseas can approach him to sign a contract and June them in June 2018. Teams can try and sign him for transfer in January but he could negotiate on a bosman also in January. He could agree to leave for free.

I doubt they'd be midtable, but they're also unlikely to get into the top 4 with or without Sanchez so I don't really understand what they're playing at. Particularly with the late shenanigans. You can't really fuck someone over like that, even if it seems the right/understandable thing to do. The likes of Coutinho and Van Dijk are in much weaker positions with regard to their clubs, and their clubs stayed consistent (well, I suppose Coutinho could still go but I doubt that will happen now).

Charlie Adam said him staying was the best transfer deal this Summer. Lol.

He won't give a fuck if he plays, they won't finish top 4 and they'll get nothing for him.

    TOP BUSINESS.

Arsenal made a nice £17 million profit this summer. That should get Arsene a nice new kitchen, or perhaps another vineyard in the Alsace.

I saw a rumour linking Ozil with Barcelona tonight. I have no idea where he will go next, but I'd say it's more likely to be Besiktas than Barca.

It's not 'faith' man, it's reasoning about the motivations of the powers at be. Level 2 thinking, let's say. Level 1 thinking being the typical John "i am well-read and it has happened this way in the past; therefore, it will happen this way again" and then Level 2 as "i understand why things happened the way they did in the past, and i can apply this to my worldview in the present."

Well, obviously. It was clearly designed to either a) not lead to his sale or b) if it led to his sale, it was at a value that nobody could argue the point.

Of course, the far more likely scenario is that Barcelona are spinning their failure to sign the player for a domestic audience.

They could have done with a few extra players, but after their initial three signings everyone they were buying are clearly squad players. Probably why everyone rejected them.

I love when Bruno de Carvalho gets in the news, it's always good.

Sporting and West Ham are in a bit of a spat over the William Carvalho transfer that didn't happen. Here's his quote:

"Where is it? Proof? Now, approaches, for sure. I’ve had them for almost the whole squad: West Ham supporters call Mr. David Sullivan and his brother, the Dildo Brothers…

“These messengers, these offended virgins, the president of West Ham… We must tell the truth!”

It seems ridiculous to me that clubs cut it so fine. Could they really not come to an agreement and get things going 1 day earlier? It's not like it was some mega £200m drawn out SAGA.

Although they are obviously crooked nobends, I kind of agree with Fifa sticking to the deadline. Of course you can lol at it being '17 seconds' but if you start making exceptions then you're definitely on a SLIPPERY SLOPE.
