I started this last year, so it may as well become tradition. December, lads, and I actually have an advent calendar this year (it's a Thorntons one).
Christmas is shit.

Christmas is shit.
Merry Christmas, Lew.
Biggest moment of 2016? Favorite shindig? Best lol? So much happened this year!!
My favorite shindig is @Shindig.
I decided I am not going to my mom's this year for Christmas. Instead, I am going to Mexico in January. Now my mother and my sister want to go to Mexico when we're going.
I'm at my parents house for Christmas and the plan was to come back up on the 29th or something so I had a couple of days to myself before going back to work and do nothing at New Year.
Now they've decided they'll drive me back up, which saves me money but completely negates the point of me coming back up early in the first place.
Was never that much into it until I met the Mrs, and she was the same herself so I really like seeing her enjoying it. As years go it's been a pretty shit one personally, so hopefully this will put a good end on it.
I've all the shopping done too
My family and I are playing DnD on Christmas Day. We've never played it before so it should be a good laugh, at least.
I'm a twit
Christmas at home this year has turned into 'we'll go round (her) mum and dads just for breakfast, then the day is ours'.
So, what we'll actually end up doing is staying past lunch time because her sister will be late like she always fucking is. Christmas dinner at about 8 then. Great.
Shit Christmas calendar-wise. Gonna be working pretty much
I'm only working 1 day between 21st December and the 3rd of January.
I've to take 3 days holidays and it gives me a 23rd finish and a return on the 3rd.
I'm in Australia for Christmas this year, can't wait.
I've got a Lego calendar, today was a snowman and snowson.
My sister is going to Scotland with her fiancé this time, so it'll just be me, the parents and my little brother Lt. Floyd, fresh from a gruelling twelve-month operational tour of the midlands.
Then on the 27th my aunt, sister and Angus McBagpipes are turning up, just in time for me to go back to work. Perfect really.
I should add, my 1 day at work will consist of replying to post (all the courts will be shut so probably about 2 letters) and bealing with enforcement agents (bailiffs taking peoples christmas presents ) whilst eating a buffet. I doubt I'll actually do anything all day.
Christmas is quality. There's more going on, people are happier, so everything is just slightly better. I'm in such a dire financial situation that I might not be able to buy presents this year, though, which is slightly depressing, but there's not much I can do about it. I'll only know for sure when I'm back in Jersey.
Most annoying thing is that I've got an assignment due on the 28th then two on the 3rd of January
I've got two due on the 5th January, so probably have an early night on NYE.
I still don't get what an advent calendar is.
We are down to 6 on the day itself, out of which will probably just be me and my brother heading to the local to meet mates (between the hours of 12-4) to promptly drink, christmas dinner and repeating the feat afterwards.
Boxing Day should be fun as per usual, large crowd out. Back down to London on the 27th and frankly, clueless as to what to do on NYE, I'd imagine getting in anywhere down here will be a right bitch.
Test.
Works do looks a decent one though, hired a venue near Tower Bridge, not got to be in till 12 the following day and free bar all night.
Test.
I went out last Boxing Day and it was ace so will probably do the same again this year. Just the night time though. Trains don't run though so need to scav a lift from someone.
I've already spent Novembers payslip but get paid early in December. Anyone else have that? Seems good at the time because you've money in your pocket over Christmas and New Year, but then you're praying for payday come the end of January and you've been waiting nearly six weeks.
I'm a twit
I'm skipping my Christmas do as they're having it in the city. Going to get a curry instead
I still haven't told then yet but someone pulled out last minute last year so that's given free ball to do the same.
Our Christmas do tomorrow, looking forward to it. Doing an Escape Room followed by the casino for a few hours, 3 course meal, then out to bars.
Is doing a 'thing' along with the dinner and drink the norm over there for a Christmas party or do you work for an American company?
Yeah, SvN, you fun having yankee cunt.
Ours is next week. A day out at the Olympic Museum followed by a piss-up. Sounds fun.
We're not having a Christmas party because Chinese people.
Our Xmas party is typically an all day affair, so we do "activities" during the day for people that aren't big drinkers. We went to Barcelona for the weekend last year, so this year is a bit tame in comparison.
We've paid for a package at the casino that includes a meal, so that's why we're going relatively early. Plus it means the non-drinkers can slink off home after the food while the rest of us get wheelchaired.
A bit tame since you took over? Tight cunt.
Last year the fuckers were barely grateful, so there's no way we're doing anything that extravagant again. We'll still pay for everything tomorrow (including drinks) so it's not a bad deal.
Just December. It's made of card and has 24 "doors" (25 if you're lucky and get one on Christmas morning) with numbers 1 to 24 on them. Every day you open the next door, in order, corresponding to the date. Behind each door is a chocolate. The chocolate is usually the shape of something festive, like today mine was a robin. Also most advent calendars have something printed on the reverse side of the door depending on the advent calendars theme - mine was Snorlax cos I have a Pokemon one.
I'm a twit
The real advent apparently started on November 27th, so the calendar folk have done us out of 4 sweets.
My mother never got us chocolate ones because 'you don't need all that sugar'. I was quite happy to get my thrills from what the next picture would be behind the door. A dove, you say? Nowadays I can't even get excited when Chelsea win 5-0.
Didn't get myself an advent calendar because I'm not that tragic but my mum arrived with a Darth Vader one for me.
I think the badly-shaped chocolate was a snowman, though. The fuck?
Why wasn't it a wookie in a Christmas tree or something?
My Mum got me a dairy milk one.
December is going to be busy for me this year. First the Meet on Saturday then the department do on Tuesday next week for work. Blossoms gig the following week and then my teams drinks (ffs). Week after back to Manchester for the weekend then Brussels for Christmas and Fife for Hogmanay.
It'll be pretty great I hope.
